Hi Daniel, thanks for this great content and you always time it so well. I just wanted to let you know that the iron sulpahte from your store worked amazingly turning all the moss in my lawn black and killing it within hours. I left it a week and then used the Steller Bio Boost and Galactic Green and the superb results speak for themselves. I am now waiting for your wetting agent to arrive. New to and loving your videos Daniel. Just a quick question about scalping a lawn at this time of year. Does the frost have a detrimental effect on a scalped lawn? I read somewhere that you shouldn’t go too short when there is frost and not very much daylight.
Have just used your code Dan for the field compost and have received my DHLE bottles of liquid gold. However, I need to apply some dressing this year and I know you mentioned it in the video. Can you recommend a good 70/30 top dressing as I have tried several over the years such as Rowlawn and Westland but haven’t had good results as quality hasn’t been very good. Keep up the great work 👍

@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert Hi Dan, i overseeded as the ground temperature looked good, but since i did this the ground temperatures have not increased. the lowest is 5 degrees up to 8 degrees. Its rained every day since. Do you think the seed will be ok until the ground temperature rises?
@DanielHibbertLawnExpert Hi Dan, following your videos, and over the past couple off weeks, I have scarified, overseeded, fertalised and top dressed but I haven't had any germination yet. The ground temperatures only reached 8 degrees today. I have been keeping the seed watered. I used Boston shade seed containg 27% amenity perennial ryegrass, 55% strong creeping red fescue, 10% slender creeping red fescue, 5% smooth-stalked meadow grass and 3% highland bent. Thanks in advance

Top video mate ! Just wondering do your customers pay for all the materials you use ? And do they ever question why certain things need doing because to them it probably looks perfect
Hey Dan, I use compost from the garden to top dress. Is that a good thing or not. My compost is a collection of fallen leaves and grass cuttings piled up during the year, turned over to another pile for a second year, and then turned once more to a third pile for use the next year - so over 3 years old by the time I end up using it. But how do I know if it's good for the grass or bad?
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert Oh no twigs, very fine and soft. And I sieve it too. I just wondered if it was too acid or alkaline - not that I know what either would do to the grass. :)
@@Linleys get a soil test so you have a baseline, 6.5 is optimal for most cool season grasses but a point or so is fine and more often the case, you can use strips for this also, if you are nearer neutral (7) and your compost is more on the acid side it would actually be pretty beneficial but the other way and it could cause issues.

@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert legend mate thanks for your advice. 👍🏼🧑🏻🌾
How long should you leave the fleece on for..
Dan i have scarified and aerated, the ground temperature is 8 degrees in the day but 6 degrees at night, should i holf off until the ground temperature is 9 degrees constantly to sow grass seed?
Same here and i have great germination its upto you
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert Hi Dan, i overseeded as the ground temperature looked good, but since i did this the ground temperatures have not increased. the lowest is 5 degrees up to 8 degrees. Its rained every day since. Do you think the seed will be ok until the ground temperature rises?
@DanielHibbertLawnExpert
Hi Dan, following your videos, and over the past couple off weeks, I have scarified, overseeded, fertalised and top dressed but I haven't had any germination yet.
Question 1, the old grass need a cut, will the new seed be ruined if I mow over the non germinated seed?
Question 2. Will the seed I have put down just work once the ground temperature gets better? Thanks in advance
@@SimonSharp-ml6uc cant give advice on other companies seed sorry you will have to ring or email them
@DanielHibbertLawnExpert ok could you answer question one?
😄 looking a mess... Still looks better than mine after you've scarified mate.
you ought to be a teacher mate ,, because your instruction is really that good , and the trolls mate ignore em they'll always be there, theres always a "I know better " brigade , nothing better to do
Cheerz mate they do get me down
What’s the problem with Jacks Magic?
Hi Dan what seed mix would you recommend for a North facing garden with a part shaded lawn?
Like this one lol barenbrug extreme i used
Made an error and went 80% fescue for shade tolerance. Can I mix in your rye grasses with the creeping fescue?
@@paulwebb4192 yep fescue no good in shade either, you can
Top video mate ! Just wondering do your customers pay for all the materials you use ? And do they ever question why certain things need doing because to them it probably looks perfect
Yeah course i aint paying for them
They want the best lawn if they get me so they dont ask questions if they knew the answer they be doing it theirselves
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert wasn’t being funny mate just a genuine question thought maybe you supply materials sometimes to make the vids
@@damon9153 i knew you wasnt bring funny nor was i, i fund labour sometimes but never materials
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert no worries mate look forward to your next vid 👍🏻
I'm looking to renovate my lawn but don't have a cylinder mower just a rotary, how necessary is scalping the lawn ? Can you get away with not doing it
Just use rotary on lowest setting
This compost has PH 8-8,5. Isn’t it too high?
What is the purpose of the cloth?
See you have got the gardners rake lean down to a T, once had a colleague who leaned on his rake so much the handle was curved 😂
Lol yeah thats why i bought a fibre glass one lol
Hi Dan, are you taking on any new clients (just off the east lancs) 🤞
No mate sorry
Hell yeah Daniel give 'em hell!! Buzz off trolls 🤣👍🏻 oh man you're so right this lawn will be amazing in a month!
Prob not great to be honest but who am i to say actually why not? Aslong as its not twiggy who knows?
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert Oh no twigs, very fine and soft. And I sieve it too. I just wondered if it was too acid or alkaline - not that I know what either would do to the grass. :)
@@Linleys get a soil test so you have a baseline, 6.5 is optimal for most cool season grasses but a point or so is fine and more often the case, you can use strips for this also, if you are nearer neutral (7) and your compost is more on the acid side it would actually be pretty beneficial but the other way and it could cause issues.
What height were you at on the final scalping with the Kensington?
Not sure but it was prob around 8mm
👏👏👏👏👏
Whats wrong with Jack’s Magic?
It was peat base and the new stuff has too much crap in it nowadays
What fleece are you using for the lawn mate?
Its from the garden superstore on ebay just garden fleece
Was going to ask the same question
How often do you water this over the next 4 weeks?
Well hopefully the rain will do it but if not prob 3-4 times a week if hot
The compost Field No 4 looks fantastic but it costs £169 to have 10 bags delivered to south west Scotland, too dear for the average gardener!
My lawns arnt of the ilk of the average gardener
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert unfortunately mine is
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert ok Daniel, bit the bullet, its on order!
What's the issue with jack's magic? Is the magic bad for the planet?
Gone downhill since they changed the peat content, still ok for beds n borders etc but not lawns
