Is that all they’re worried about? Economic growth? No wonder no one wants kids.

You forgot to add that new moms get their salaries slashed in half if they rejoin the work force after giving birth

Maybe make being a wife and mother a more respected and honorable thing. Maybe if men showed appreciation, we'd be honored but who wants to have a baby only for husbands and fathers to abuse or abandon both. They don't deserve children. They never really did.

Raising a child in South Korea is more expensive than in other developed countries because, the average South Korean desires a standard of living that is far more expensive than what people in other countries desire. Most children in the USA do not require private academies and tutors in order to do well in school. However in South Korea education is so much more competitive. Parents have to provide their children with private education in addition to what is provided by the public school system. Children who's parents can't afford to provide them with these social norms are often bullied at school for being poor. I think if there were less societal pressure toward materialism, more people would be willing to have children.

In south korea ,there was woman after her maternity leave came to work in office .But she faced discrimination and was bullied for being a WORKING mother .So u can understand how the south korean society expect a woman to be like after having a child. And in the end that woman comitted suicide.

    1) Insanely expensive

  • @fdinmaine

It has nothing to do with not having enough money, everything to do with what's valued.

Until Korean women are treated with respect and equality why should they.

I went to South Korea this summer, went to a mall by the border of seoul. So that area was a lot of suburban families. There were a lot of couples or singles wheeling a stroller, I saw around 10-15 that day. And it was dogs, poodle was a popular breed that I saw in those strollers. Not one did I see a human baby 🙈

What for?? Smart women if u can't afford then don't have them. Other countries should take a note from Korean women.
