It doesn't matter who owned the club when it happened, the fact is Chelsea have profit from fraud. They have won things, built revenue & gained sponsors off the back of this and to suggest they get away with that is massively unfair. If 1 club gets away with a fine, then how can other clubs get deductions? How can City be given anything other than a fine?

Dear Simon, I do not know if you have been drinking bleach, been struck on the head by a heavy object, or are simply in denial. Or possibly have amnesia. I don't understand how you can categorically say that Chelsea has come forward with this information out of pure integrity.Could you please tell me when Manchester City's first charges were highlighted, and at what year the charges start from? Taking that into consideration, and knowing that the Premier League are probably going to be looking into more and more clubs' past history with regards to fair play, business dealings, etc., etc., wouldn't it be more prudent as a business owner to do exactly as you said, and expose the situation so as to come across as being honest to get a lesser penalty? Knowing the situation that City are currently in and the possibility of the charges being laid against them, being upheld, and the following proceedings that ensue?

Im talking about everyone and their grannies are penny pinching left and right to stay with the rules and Chelsea running around without even a sponsor on their shirts spending nigh on a billion and weirdly selling their own assets to themselves and the like and no one bats an eye, like wasnt there something about flogging their own womens team to themselves for 200m ? Lmao, sounds to me like this has had to come out. If they could have buried it and it never come out they absolutely would have chosen that option imo. It just how these money people do things.

I can understand the argument of not punishing a new owner for decisions made by previous ownership. But that doesn't mean a fine is sufficient. That is just a starting point. There should be a points reduction applied to all impacted seasons and if that means titles move hands so be it. Same with cup competitions, if a club is stripped of them so be it.
Points deductions and fines in a current season are annoying but mostly meaningless. Take away previous successes and then there is a real threat to get things right.

I think there are 2 scenarios here:
If Chelsea used off book payments to fund transfer fees & that resulted in other clubs not getting players, then I think a points deduction + fine is fair. It’s impacted other clubs negatively and potentially made them loose out on revenue.
If they used off book payments to pay higher wages, then I think it’s a fine. Plenty of ways you can justify that sort of thing, lots of business use other companies to make payments. Would be an absolute nightmare for the PL to argue. It isn’t a million miles away from the accounting tricks with the hotel & womens team under current owners.
