I have this bike, and really like it. I upgraded the shifter and derailleur to NX and stuck a dropper post with internal cable on it, and it just made a big difference. The clutch on the SX derailleur is very soft compared to the NX and GX.
Man a pawn shop has one for 700£ It looks untouched...I hope its still there on payday..two days time lol.. Its in a medium ..am 5ft 7. Just getting back into riding ..when i rode back in the 90s..the top tube was straight and high so sizing REALLY mattered as you could smash your crown jewels on the top tube. So many bikes that are a Large have very sloped top tubes. Question is do a lot of shorter riders pick Large frames? Of course there is the reach factor and of course now bikes have 27.5 and 29in wheels. As a child in the early 90s I knew bikes would loose the two biggest chainrings, you get better leverage with the small ring, and i never seen the point with all those endless gears and i hated the thought of "whats the best gear to be in right now" Really looking forward to just having the cassette on the back to choose from. I love your channel...subbed.!!
Thoughts on the 2021 Scott Scale 970 vs the 2022 Trek Marlin 8? I was told they are comparable bikes. Mostly for leisure riding around the neighborhood with kids in tow and gravel trails and maybe some actual mountain trails later on. Might be more than what I currently need, but I'm open to getting a nicer bike that's going to last me at least 10 years. Marlin 8 would be purchased at retail in the red color that I want for $1330 plus tax. Scott Scale would be $1500 - 15% discount = $1275 + tax. Discount is applied to the in stock color which is the grey one you have. I would have preferred the Red, but the grey is nice too.
100% agree on the shifter being cheap... Took my first fall, not even serious hit or whatever. I just tripped and went infront of my bike, bike never fell out of my hands and I caught it but I clipped shifter either to myself or to the branch laying on the ground and the shifter holder snapped. Shifter still works but it is hanging on the wire so will need to be replaced (will glue or zip tie until then...) Overall amazing bike the only other gripe with it would be paint quality in my opinion. I've never seen paint to chip away instead of scratching, bought it in sexy red but it seems in the future I will need to repaint it if im not carefull with the paint :D
Im actually thinking of buying this Tommorow , Quick question - Im 6'1 240 Pounds and the store where im buying the bike reccomends Just a "Large" scots scale 970 2022 ... But its actually the only size tyhey have .. Will this Size be good for me ?? Thanks in advanced , Loved this VID!!!
shit i mean u could go to an xl, but i mean dpeends on how you are proportioned, you could get away with a large, I am 6 foot and ride a large butt he seatpost is almost maxed
Bought this bike yesterday, XL size, going to pick it up next week and am superhyped for it :D watched your video several times, it helped me a lot, thank you!
@@GCPerformance18 Thanks GC. I like to be able to hit close to 40mph on pavement then have versatility of gearing on trails. I use my bikes to commute to work also. Top speed is important. Good to know there is a mount for a front deralier on this frame. I love the Scale series from Scott, especially non-carbon versions. What works of art the frames are. I'm going to ride my Scott this morning out on the trails! Keep it Rubber side(dirty side) down! Cheers
Great video, thanks. I'm looking at picking up a Scale 970 this weekend, but it comes with 11 to 50 12 speed Sram SX. Can I change this to a Shimano 10 to 51 cassette thanks to the "regular shimano freehub" mentioned at 5:43?
What’s the target rider for a hard tail? Is it someone that wants to kinda get into some off-road or more hardcore terrain riding but not serious enough for a full suspension bike - plus no worries about servicing those suspension items down the road?
Its also faster and noticeably lighter than full suspension, and needs less maintaining/fixing. Its basially do it all bike (well except for rough downhill) and is for people that want a single bike for everything
Have you ever had a customer who has had problems with a Scott bike? I was thinking about a Foil but i’ve seen some complaints about the headsets and BBS.
I mean I have had a bunch of people with problems with every brand, but they are not bad at all.. the scott bikes have always been nice and oyu get a lot for the money for sure
It went together easily in less than an hour. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Make sure the front fork is forward or the pedals will hit the front tire. Tires are both a little soft so it needs air before I ride it. The rear wheel didn't come with a clamp regular bolts hold it on. The front had the clamp. No scratches out of box. Rims are a little off with a slight wobble. They could have spent more time with the spoke tool fixing the run out. So far out of the box I'm happy with it. I did replace the pedals with a nice aftermarket set. After riding it a bit my A$$ is a bit sore so I ordered another seat. Overall I'm nearly 60 and didn't ride a bike in 30 years. I like my new 29" Schwinn. It will be used for casual rides with my friend.
@@johnsonvaca3722 just go to your local bike shop / buscar tienda especializadas de ciclismo , y pregunta por este modelo, es bastante bueno para el precio

It’s a great value hardtail for the price and doesn’t limit you in the long run to do upgrades.
can i change the tire to maxxis dhr 29x2.4

Scott scale 970 vs Specialized chisel? Also chisel (base) vs comp version ? Which one will be better bang for your buck?
chisel

I'm early this time. Been watching your vids lately and I like listening your voice and how you review the bikes it's so informative. Thank you Sir
Thanks so much!!! That means a lot to me, I really do appreciate it😁
Thanks for the review. Does the Scott Scale 970 have internal cable routing for a dropper seat?
yes I belioeve so

Cuál es el mejor , la orbea alma h30 o scott scale 970 ?
If you upgraded the fork would this be ok on a serious trail?
what do u mean by serious? anything like acutal mountians you would need som serious skill to navigate with that smal suspension
I have had it for a week. Love this bike. It flies
that is awesome, glad u like it
Would you get this or Marlin 8 Gen 2

Can you review a specialized chisel
Hi! Shifters can change multiple gears or there's only One click to change the Gear?
you can throw three gears at one with one push but not on a downshift
Is this a good entry bike? I’m also looking at the Scott Spark 970 but thinking that will be too much.
yes it is a great bike that will last a long time
Nice review. Thanks for pointing out all the deficiencies
Thank you for watching!!!
This bike is good, great feeling to ride on and off road
Yes, true
I'd have to at least have a 2 by front deraler. Does Scott offer that?
you can buy one and it can fit the frame and then you need a new shifter and also chainring

Hey, what's your thoughts on the Aspect 910 vs Scale 970? Basically top-spec of the model below or base spec model above.
go for the scale all the way it has a ncier frame and also some nicer components

yes it will work just apaion in the ass
hi sir.. whats is the maximum chainring you can install to it?

i dont get it.... previews scale uses Thru Axle.. now they went back to Quick Release? why?
yea this is a cheaper model so the cheaped out and the next model 960 is thru axel

there other brands like
Giant, Merida and specialized who already use a Thru axle in thia price segment

it's more for an entry xc bike. So some trail riding that's not to harsh and will be fine doing road

very nice upgrade that is a nice way to make th ebike your own
Can this handle and jumps and can I use this as a guide for the Scott 965
yea it can handle jumps for sure, just make sure its a smooth transition landing
Thanks
