- Brouwerij De Halve Maan in Bruges is better known for its homegrown brands Brugse Zot and Straffe Hendrik. And for their beer pipeline under Bruges! There has been brewing activity on this location in the historic center for at least five centuries and this Belgian brewery has been in the hands of the Maes family for six generations already. A must see when you visit Bruges!

Excellent! Really interesting and informative.
Highly professional video!
I love their Straffe Hendrik tripel it's a real treat. I'm having it now such a lovely balance of flavors gives you a nice warm glow from the alcohol.
A real classic indeed!
Awesome video guys, top notch quality as always!
Thanks Thomas, it sure was fun to be able to shoot a short film here!
This is excellent. I just learned about it. Now I need some for my #Quarantine2020. LOL
Thanks! Wouldn't it be great if we could be connected to that beer pipeline?
Thank you for this video. I love these history information videos. Cheers, -J.O.
We love making them, so that's a good match :) Thanks for the comment, we hope to shoot some more of these old family breweries in Belgium this year!
Awesome video 👍
Great beer and great brewery! It was a privilege to drink Bruges Zot unfiltered straight from the tank 😋 delicious. They have such a great heritage and history of the beer.
For us it was a privilege to shoot a short film there, what a great place and such a great heritage indeed.
Straffe hendrik is the only Halve mane beer I can buy in my country and I really love to travel to this brewery
Bruges is beautiful and so is the brewery and the different beer cafe's. Well worth a visit! (check our website for more info if you like)
I work in a place that carries Straffe Henrik and was interested in learning more about its history so I could be more informative to our customers. This was very helpful and would love to see more about the brewing process that goes into it, as well as the Belgium's history involving beer brewing. Side note, Belgians seem so polite and soft spoken, it's rare I meet one that isn't a class act.
Vaga Bond Thanks for your comment! We don’t focus so much on the brewing proces in these series but rather on the stories behind all these breweries. But you’re right, there is so much to tell... who knows, we might do a series focussen on the brewing proces in the future. Thanks for watching!
Awesome, I have been to the brewery a couple of times and it is a special place
Leffebelly It sure is! We can’t wait for all the tasting rooms and pubs to open again! 🤞
@@tastytales , a big cheers to that!
Probably the best brewery tour I've been to is at Halve Maan. They give you a tour of the no longer used 100 year old plus operation, thus you see how beer used to be made, with all the labor intensive steps that have since been automated and hidden behind shiny steel equipment. Finally, once they take you to the roof of their 5 story building you get a great view of Bruges without having to climb the Belfry Tower.
It's awesome isn't it? Unfortunately it was quite a cloudy, rainy day when we visited, so not much of a view.
Love it. Thanks for the video!
Thanks, good to hear! Definitely a brewery that's worth a visit (in our humble opinion).
@@tastytales I was in Brugges last year and missed out. I'll be there this year and this brewery is on the list!
@@bandsbikesandboozereviews So much history and innovative at the same time. Plus a great view over the city when you take the tour. You will enjoy it!
Beautiful video, I will have to read further about the beer pipeline, very interesting
Thanks, appreciate it! The pipeline is a great story, there's some more info on our website but also easy to find on the web.
Absolutely superb! I’m learning so much here ...I’m new to Belgian beers and trying to learn as much as I can because I’m developing a palate for them now and they’re very tasty!...all forms of the Belgian style...just love them! I see your passion so clearly! your short films inspire me! I really mean this! Beer is my ultimate passion and it’s all I think about, shhh don’t tell my wife! Lol 😆 but I’m trying to work on my cicerone stuff and it’s opened me up to even more beer education than i ever dreamed of! I’m grateful to have Subscribed to you and I look forward to watching religiously! Lol cheers my friend!
Making these films is our passion, and it takes up a lot of our spare time. So when we get a reaction like this, that's priceless! Thanks so much, really appreciate your comments!
Excellent video. May have to take the wife back to Brugge.
Thanks! We would like to return with slightly better weather conditions ;)
