Seems a wonderful idea. Just wanted to ask if you rely only on these bottles when you use them in a bed, or you have to sometimes supplement with more irrigation conventionally.
i would think you need to puncture the bottle to be sure that vacum is not stopping the watter from pouring as there's no air in the soil to fill the vacum space
U need the vacuum. Otherwise u will get positive pressure which will dump all the water our and drain the plants. With this method the water only gets fed when the soil dries out and starts aucking water in. The body of the bottle flexes to compensate

Great idea we have a lot of rain in the uk but in summer months can get very dry so I’m giving it a go when I go away.

If you poked a hole the soil would get too wet.

does it work in hot whether of 35c and fill bottles and let them water by themselves so i will save some water?
