    Accidentally discovered, but Congratulations on your videos, and effectively demistifying the R5 for us. I can see you steadily improving on your candid content creation and soon getting a good following from us lesser mortal clubmen. However, i would also be interested in hearing what you learnt over the ownership of your EVO. Pros and cons, and perhaps what you would say to someone looking to get a Grp-N one. Or any other relevant advise for that matter. As in an earlier video it was scary you likening the running costs of your EVO-6 to the R5! 😢

    Great content as ever Richard! Start procedure a bit like a 6R4- but that was a winding handle on to the pump directly if my memory serves me correctly!
    Progress, progress!
    Do you intend to use the car on gravel or are you purely of the tarmac disposition?
    A set up video re geometry / ride height etc would be fab as / when that’s required?
    Great video, thanks again for taking the time to post 👍👍

      Thanks Ashley. In my escort I did the same really, but had the fuel pumps off to get pressure. I don't have a gravel kit and I am not intending to use the car on gravel, so it will be a tarmac only car; which is my preferred discipline. I will be having corner weighting and set up carried out soon, so will cover this accordingly. Thank you for your comment and for following the channel.

Puch, Kreidler, Peugeot, Motobecane, etc.) I only very recently got a very good deal on a 2017 Fiesta (Just stock non-turbo SE, with the dual clutch automatic trans) I'm quickly becoming obsessed with her... ..And she's not turbo, or manual...or tuned... 😄

My favorite bike, is the Puch X30 with the speed-holed and dimple-died fuel tank. @@Richard_Weaver About my SE, btw, I still have to treat it just like every manual, instead of how we typically drive any non DCT automatics, even when I'm not in sport mode, and selecting gears manually. Give her some decent throttle off the line, let off briefly, and continue accelerating, just like is required with all manuals. People complain that they shudder at slow speeds, and think their transmission is messed up....except they don't at all, and it's not..once you understand how they work, and operate them correctly. They behave in most ways, like a manual, even in automatic.

    In the series/rallies which you compete, are you allowed to use the Mk7.5 Fiesta WRC (what would now be considered/classed as Rally 1) rear wing?
    Since they grant you paddle shifters, I am guessing that you could get away with that as well.
    Of course the strict homologation stickler, Euro rallies will not allow either of the above.

    • @Richard_Weaver

    • @Richard_Weaver
      @Richard_Weaver  Год назад +2

      The paddle shift is the WRC M-sport kit. It’s not homologated, so if you go abroad or do international championships then it doesn’t fit into their class system. That’s said, they let you run the car in the rally. I’m not interested in championships and just do rallies ad-hoc, so provided they let you run (which they all do) then it’s not an issue. Everything in the UK is fine anyway. Going abroad means changing to the 32mm restrictor from the 34mm. But that’s easy enough.
      Glad you’re liking the content. 🙌🏻

      It was always to keep costs down. The cars were supposed to be around €190,000 inc VAT. The work around for the factories to get the prices up, being of course, the evo kits and upgrades. So if you want to be competitive, you need all that. The real figure is nearer €250,000 or more with the VAT

    • @Richard_Weaver
      @Richard_Weaver  Год назад +1

      You need to have dedicated competition insurance for these vehicles. I use David Auden Associates. However there are other like Ryan Motorsport Insurance and REIS. My insurance is nearly a grand, but that’s due to the value in part. I also have international road section cover for using the car on rallies with liaison mileage on open public highway. That also bumps it up.

    Who looks after the Mechanical side of things? Because I guess it’s not as if you can pop down the road for an Oil filter etc!
    What fuel do you run and how do you re fill? as don’t they have to weird connections in the boot?!
    Do you have many spares?
    Who do you take with the knowledge on Service crew?
    Grown up with Rallying and would absolutely love an R5 Car amongst many other things 😂

    • @Richard_Weaver
      @Richard_Weaver  Год назад

      Hi mate. We do some of the mechanical ourselves. Oil is 10/60w fully synthetic. The oil filter is a Mercedes road car item; available from the factors. I have a few spares like shafts and brake discs/pads.
      Fuel is covered in the video at about 7:50. Service crew, I use a few people and it often depends on who is already going to the event. I’ve used SW Motorsport, Rallyworld, Major Motorsport, Neil Weaver (no relation) and in Belgium Andes Motorsport and ASD. Some of the preparation I get done by the UK guys too👍🏻

      Yes. They go through the same test. I’m never 100% sure what the exact regulations are, but I think you just have to take it to the right MOT stations so you don’t get hassle. I’ve always had good contact with the motor trade. The cars are perfectly road legal, but some MOT stations do not understand them in the same way as others. My suggestion would be to ask rally people local to you where they take their cars. It would be worth going out of your way to find a sympathetic tester.

      Airbags are a construction and use requirement, for mass produced vehicles, and an MOT basically only checks the airbag warning light on those.
      I think low production vehicles either have less strict regulations that don’t require airbags, or go through an IVA test for their registration, which has no requirement for an airbag to be fitted.
