    Finally, it's time to review my new Flex HR theater chairs from Octane Seating. These are the "top grain" leather version, not bonded. There are a million things to discuss, but I've tried to cover the high level details. Hopefully it gives you a little more insight before buying a set.
    ▶ Here are a couple additional details not mentioned in the video:
    _________________________
    - USB ports are extremely tight. Hopefully they loosen over time
    -The AC cables are plenty long, which is very smart and helpful when routing your power
    - If not seated, the controls are hard to access. Seat cushion gets in the way.
    - Likewise, attached USB cables poke out / into the seat
    - Unboxing these recliners is work, and much easier to do with 2 people
    - This matte finish Leather requires regular cleaning, and shows mark/smudges easily.
    - The chairs CAN NOT be put down if you lose power. A backup battery is available as an accessory, haven't tried it.
    - The tray tables are for snacks and small stuff only. If you lean on them, they definitely will break under the pressure.
    - I have a few crooked seams and loose threads. Not the worst I've seen, but not ideal. Something to watch out for. This is a QC thing.

    Spot on and finally a review on Octane Seating… I ordered the Octane Azure LHR and have had them for 9 months. I have a 4 back row on the included risers (a huge reason I purchases octane) and a three chair front row. I had the same scuffing in the back of one chair. I agree that the LED strips are too bright and they render themselves useless so I covered them with electrical tape… I would like the ability to dim and change colors… RGB is everywhere in 2021. I had bad experience with the accessories, I ordered a couple of tables, the ‘walnut’ version and so bad I returned them. They were very low quality and did not sit flush… anything round would roll right off. I think the chairs look great and are very comfortable but I wish the back of the chair and the foot rest could be independently controlled. Sometimes, I like to sit but recline a bit… you can do this but you have to apply some pressure to the foot rest which you eventually let go. Finally, one of the storage arms on my front row broke. The base that is basically just stapled to the arm rest that you pull up, just came off. I do recommend these chairs but inspect them closely upon arrival… as Kev noted, the warranty is fleeting.

    Those new chairs will make a fine addition to your collection... of chairs? Haha, I was trying to quote Grievous, but I don't know where I was going with that. These look like some great and comfy chairs. Finding the right balance between being not too firm or soft is challenging. I generally like a firmer chair, but in this case, that leather cushioning seems really nice.

    Thanks for the great video! I've been looking at these for a while but have been afraid to pull the trigger without sitting in them first. Can you comment on comfort? Are they firm? Soft? Comfortable for long movies or to fall asleep in? Also, are they big enough for taller people to support their head and not have feet overhanging too far?

      @kevdeovideo  3 года назад +1

      I'm 5'10" and the size isare great for me. Over 6', I'm not sure how they'd be. I would definitely call them soft. After some use, I wish the pads we more firm. Very comfortable overall, at least so far.

    • @reviewgodusa9613
      @reviewgodusa9613 3 года назад +2

      Pretty comfortable for me. I wouldn't sleep in them but watching a movie for 3 hours I had no issues. I'm 5' 9" and they were perfect for me height wise. My legs just perfectly lined up with the end while full reclined. However if you are a few inches or more taller you will hang off a little.

    Im actually getting my geek/game room together with my partner and I've been looking for comfortable/modern ish arm chairs and unfortunately. The nice ones are incredibly expensive and the cheap ones have crappy materials. It's harder then expected to find that perfect fit. So I'll be starting cheap use the heck out of it then hopefully upgrade to something similar to your chairs. Thank you for the review

      I would try to spend very little money on the initial chair, so you can save up towards the good ones right out of the gate. @@kevdeovideo any update on how you feel about the Flex HR's? I'm currently trying to decide between all the different models - powered headrest is a must - I also prefer a softer type of seat so trying to work out which one to get - any features on other models you wished you had now? Any info would be greatly appreciated. And I Subbed :-)

    • @kevdeovideo
      @kevdeovideo  2 года назад +4

      @@AussieInSeattle Hey Matt, there are a few things I'll save for that next video. But the big takeaway... As the foam padding deflates, the lumbar support sucks. Bad. I was surprised has fast the lower area of the chair's back deflated. DEFINITELY go for the power lumbar. That would allow you to compensate bit as the foam loses its initial puff. As someone with back issues, I find the issue particularly annoying. Probably less of a problem for others. Live gently on the leather, its not as tough as the (more expensive) full grain options out there

    • @AussieInSeattle
      @AussieInSeattle 2 года назад

      @@kevdeovideo Thanks - appreciate the response - comfort, squishiness, etc is so subjective which makes it hard when you cant sit in them - have you dismantled the back of it to see if you can add some strapping to the lumber area? You can buy those wide elastic straps that are used to make furniture on amazon I think and if its a wooden frame back there (likely with a metal mechanism) then it might be a pretty simple fix? Would also like to see the part numbers for your custom iphone mount - I think I found the iphone part but not sure where to get the stand that goes into the insert.

    I recently sold the Octane HR Cloud. I consider the HR Cloud on the entry level side and I didn’t want to break the bank on my first home theater chairs. They were decent but my biggest complaint was I did not ever feel comfortable enough to fall asleep in them or be in the reclined position for an entire movie. It was too uncomfortable on my back. There was always a gap between the seat and back when reclined beyond 40% which caused lack of lower back support.
    Did you find similar issue with this one? I recently purchased Palliser Roosevelt/Ovation and was able to sit on it before purchasing and it was night and day better.

    • @kevdeovideo
      @kevdeovideo  3 года назад

      Agreed. After some use, I found the lower back support lacking as well. Doesn't bother me unless I'm camped out for a long time (gaming for example. Ending up grabbing a lumbar pillow for now. Not ideal, but it's livable.

    I bought six of the flex hr chairs last week. It was a toss up between the diamante made by seatcraft and the flex hr. I chose the flex because seatcraft had a lot of bad reviews for customer service. The diamante is a better looking chair to me however, I don't know how durable they are. I will switch the backs of the flex every 6 months to avoid the sagging and premature wear.
