If I win an oscar for writing I'll thank this page first and foremost. These are so great.

Thank you so much Professor Horowitz. Even though the movies are quite different, I didn't realize how ingrained the structure is in these stories.

Hence why “The Hero’s Journey” is arguably the most commonly known and practiced story template.

I didn't really feel like this explained HOW to raise the stakes. The point about the Mentor took up most of the video.

hi and happy new year. so in the end of act 2 part 1, a character might face himself and realize what he needs to do or that he needs to change? in the hobbit I think the end of act 2 part 1 is when the dwarves get captured by spiders and they all get wrapped up except for bilbo, so he realizes he must be brave and act to save his friends if they're going to survive and continue on to the goal. so while the over arching goal is still the same, he's no longer as timid, he gets a sense of what he could become, a courageous person and therefore a more complete person. from then on out, even though he's experienced bravery and has more confidence now, the obstacles hit harder to test that newfound growth?
I didn't see the witness, so from what you said, we haven't faced the level of conflict such as character transformation/inner demons, etc. And this is when we'll start to see change in the character? Harrison Ford's character dislikes and fears community, but in order to become a better cop/commit to being a good cop, he has to experience a healthy community and then reject the previous bad stuff such as pain, fear, etc? when you said at the very end he has to 'reject it consciously', I don't know what needs to be rejected, his fears and previous false beliefs about community? - I tried to decipher but the transcript is erroneous - maybe because of the music.

the music is distracting, needs a more simple arrangement, i keep getting distracted. nice content though

thanks to Prof Horowitz.. but yet I need to tell that it should be compulsory to take articulation and diction courses for the teachers/lecturers at any level..
