Tom one of the primary reasons I love your fantasy channel more than the rest is that you talk through your thought process rather than declaring what we should do as though they can see the future.
My team from Japan was PER - STR - HUL - ALB - BOT - RED - FER and I have 3 transfers coming into China. I can afford the VER - RED - FER lineup but I'm not a big fan. I am planning on choosing the best out of PER/LEC/SAI (probably SAI) and filling out my team with MAG - HUL and whatever other good C-tier assets I can afford. Then I will use limitless in Miami and still catch the underlying budget growth. By running without VER, I am sacrificing an average of 20 points for 1M extra in budget gains. I think that is a fair trade at this point in the season, but because I am using limitless in Miami I think the no-VER meta is the better option. Another thing to note is the FER upgrades for Imola - if I jump on VER now I might have to Wildcard to get back to a budget builder, which seems a waste.
Thanks for the video Tom. Option 1 (current one):PER-TSU-ZHO or BOT-HUL-MAG Option 2 (the one I want to do): SAI-HUL-MAG-BOT-STR Option 3: PER -BOT-ZHO-SAR-STR In all cases I will play No negative in China and Limitless in next one so team I select now will be budget building for 2 sprints. Thanks
Sorry guys, dumb question. Can someone briefly explain the concept of building your budget? I didn’t realize that our budget changes 😬 my cost cap is at $105.4M currently now that I add it up. I used the wildcard last week to overhaul the team.
My plan is to budget build here with Perez, then limitless Miami meaning I’d get the best budget building for two weeks, setting up a GOOD verstappen build for future races. It misses verstappen in 1 sprint but avoiding the bottom drivers in the teams will pay that back if one of them DNFs at any point….
I think you wanna use limitless at an earlier sprint race, the differential between the meta team and optimal team is too close at the end of the season you get the most value using it now. Will be using in Miami for now
Thanks Tom. I cannot afford Alonso yet but I am planning to go with SAI-STR in China instead of PER-TSU. beside that I would have HaaS drivers and BOT. I would use No Negative in China and Limitless in the next race. Opinion? I will decide after Sprint q of course. I cannot have PER-STR so I have to choose.
Personally, im hoping the benefit of seeing the sprint quali will highlight if the limitless chip is worth it. Go all in on redbull Ferrari plus one other, then pray my actual team grows budget again. Then hit a max meta fir Miami. Dnfs can happen to anyone, avoiding Sargent, alpine and sauber are the only logical avoids because if the actual likelihood of minimal points. Danny ric could easily wipe out half the field so id just hope you get lucky with whoever else you have
Sprint quali will literally tell us the story if how to build our teams so don't stress too much this week should be more straight forward than previous to be honest. If deadline was before sprint quali we'd have a real problem on our hands but we don't have to deal with that!
Looking at how the pricing works, the price increases are much bigger than the price decreases, so many fantasy managers will eventually be able to to afford the Verstappen meta build. Further, it is almost impossible to be priced out of the Verstappen build once you are able to afford it. The only build you may be priced out of is the triple Ferrari and Red Bull as the Ferrari assets have the highest potential price increases. I am still going for a budget build, even though I am just 0.8m short of the triple Ferrari build, after that I will focus on points for the rest of the season. The bigger your budget, the more flexibility you have with team selection. Choosing the Verstappen build now, means you are pretty much locked in to that team for the rest of the season...
Thanks for the video Tom, perfectly sums up the dilemma many of us have. The VER or not, points v budget building basically depends on will VER keep dominating - after 4 rounds seems like that's a yes, so VER is surely best choice for points now. But, longer term, what team does budget building allow you to get to, is it worth it? With RED, FER, VER in team, ideally that's upgrading 2nd driver (partly to help with 3xDRS, Autopilot use later in season). I have budget of 107.1 now. To get to RED, FER, VER, SAI, ZHO, BOT, SAR now I'm 11.9m short. That's surely never going to be possible this season. I could aim for ALO instead of SAI, but that's a gap of 8.2m. Not sure how likely either. Lower gap of around 4m to get to a RED, FER, LEC, SAI base. So I think budget building only works with VER team to get to slightly better budget drivers or get a better team without VER in team. Big decision to make soon!
Yeah, I'm more looking at improving my immediate budget guys (avoiding SAR mainly) rather than building towards a 2x premium driver build. If I budget build and it goes according to plan, I'd stay on the Verstappen build within the next race or two. Main question is whether I should just commit to that now and suffer having ALB SAR ZHO BOT as my budget guys. Maybe the difference in budget is small enough that continuing to wait for a little more money to avoid SAR just isn't worth the risk of losing the ability to run VER RED FER. I think I'm down to limitless China and move to VER build in Miami without the need for SAR (ideal scenario) but risk not affording VER if it goes wrong Vs switching to VER build now, sucking up the terrible budget guys and lack of budget gain to secure the VER RED FER and then go limitless in Miami
@@potpanmanF1 It's a tough decision to make. I'm also factoring into my thinking that once STR gets to tier B, if/when PER/LEC/SAI get to tier A, unless they fall back a tier due to DNF, "sensible" budget building ( still getting good points by running RED, FER) will be pretty much over. The time is now for building any budget (unless competitive order changes during the season) . Only chance to get away from the cheapest budget options within a RED, FER, VER team. But, as you say, there's a risk of getting priced out of RED, FER, VER. I think the decision then has to be how much leeway you have budget wise to get to VER team if things go badly. I have a 1.2m buffer at moment, which is not actually much
I’ve got to go budget builder thanks to catching 4 DNF’s now. My budget is 104.1 Going Per/hulk/mag/tsu/bot with red+fer Then limitless in Miami Hoping for back to back 1.5/2m rises
hey mate great video! I had Ver Tsu Hul Bot Sar FER RBL in Japan. Now I can switch Sargent to Zhou, what do u think ? drop sargent and double down on Sauber? or keep him?
Isn't the other risk of trying to budget build to get a better budget driver that as they're better they will see more price increases over the lower down budget drivers? Might pay off in the long run but the risk is the slightly better budget drivers will continue to increase unless they have an unlucky weekend with a dnf or something
Very much depends on who you are putting the 3x and 2x on. I assume that you probably cant afford RED FER and 2 premium drivers. So maybe hold on to 3x for later in the season when we might be able to afford another premium driver.
By the time youve built enough budget your going to be left with like 10 races of the season, losing far to many points. Max is gunna dominate majority of the races this season and likely next and he will just keep going up in value. Pop your limitless, and wildcard in Immola if you wanna bring mclaren in
I can afford the meta with all bduegt drivers but going full budget building for China then limitless in Miami and Wildcard to bring in Max With the way price changes work you would need the Saubers and Williams o out score the better C tier drivers otherwise they will never catch up to their price rises so you would be stuck with them forever. Happy to risk it without Max for 1 race if sets up my team
Exactly, if you switch to the Verstappen meta too soon, you are locked into that team for the rest of the season... Building up more budget just gives you wider team selection options for a very long season..
I have $107.6 and ranking of 7 134 no Chips used. I would like to build my budget until I can afford 2 proper drivers otherwise x3 chip and auto chip is a bit useless
Sorry to be so impatient! ( take it as a compliment) I don’t want to be in the albeit unlikely position of having Stroll and or TSU etc DNF and then not being able to afford Max even though my plan is limitless in Miami anyway. But to roll the dice with the budget meta 2 races in a row scares me.
It scares me too. It also scares me to sit in my ALB SAR ZHO BOT bed. So maybe trying to squeeze 1 more week out of budget building is worth it. Kinda depends on do I want to avoid worst case scenario or go for best case scenario. I can't do both, so need to pick one!
Does uncertainty impact the bottom drivers more than the top? That could be a strong reason to go for limitless. I’m hoping sprint qualifying is going to give us the certainty we need to use this chip.
Since the price algorithm has been decoded, we now know that a decent normalised points weekend for a budget driver (tier C) nets you 0.5m, and tier B nets you 0.3m, but a really good weekend for a tier B jumps to 1.0m (Perez was 1 point away from this the last race). That's why I am trying for triple Ferrari, a few more races with 1.0m increases, will price most other managers out and you may ultimately be able to to switch to a VER triple FER and RBR...
Yeah, that's a fair point. I guess my concern is if there's uncertainty/dodgy conditions then a DNF while on limitless will be terrible as you'll be stacked on the same assets so DNF will be like a -40. FP1/sprint quali better help us out!
I think the uncertainty issues of the Chinese track are overblown. It's a traditional circuit, not a closed-in street circuit and the weather conditions have improved from early reporting. High tyre degredation suits Red Bull and Ferrari, who are the two best teams at the moment. With upgrades coming, the meta may change, particularly if the other teams catch Ferrari, then limitless more of a gamble...

on F1 fantasy tools, you can change the drop down from fantasy points to prices changes. no need for the calculator :)
Beat me to it
I’ve got Perez Sainz leclerc bottas and k mag. Ferrari haas constructors any recommendations on what to change or is this a farly good build

To get from a Sargeant to a.... non-Sargeant 😅😂
Anyone know what is happening with the team lock deadline, it's still open, should I use my limitless chip?
Thanks Tom.
