For decades, ex-government agent Raymond "Red" Reddington (James Spader) has been one of the FBI's Most Wanted fugitives. Now, he's mysteriously surrendered to the FBI with an explosive offer: He will help catch a long-thought-dead terrorist under the condition that he speaks only to Elizabeth "Liz" Keen (Megan Boone), an FBI profiler fresh out of Quantico. Liz soon discovers that Red has compiled a secret list of criminals over the years: a "blacklist" of politicians, mobsters, spies, and international terrorists. He will help catch them all ... with the caveat that Liz continues to work as his partner.

James Spader is definitely what makes the show. I'll just be repeating what everyone else is already saying, but he IS Raymond Reddington. In person he's seems to be just as fun and authentic as in the show. I love how its his first panel and he's so relaxed. Casually walking up and down to replace that chair while the panel is already going, and then when asked a question just pausing and staring. What more is there to say? He's one of those people where its rude to only ask for an autograph, because he deserves to be sat down with and listened to.
Have you seen his earlier work? Seriously, this man is a genius.

I have never watched James Spader until The Black List. What an incredible actor he is. Charming, ironic, emotional, evil in each episode and that's what makes him one of the best actors in the world in my opinion.

Who would have thought way back when the pilot aired, that I would become so addicted to a T.V. show? It was purely by accident that I ran into it...because it aired after The Voice. I am so addicted and find myself wishing my life away each week, waiting for Mondays! Excellent show, excellent acting!

Same for me. It's fascinating how this show can catch someone. Each episode is so unique. You never know what will happen next. I mean you REALLY DONT KNOW. And thats something very rare. Usually you can anticipate what happens next after 5 episodes of an average TV-Show. But Blacklist is quite different. I love it. Not to mention that James Spader is a hell of an actor (I'm a huge fan of him since Boston Legal).

Reddington has become one of my favorite characters on television. Here it is 2020 and watching Red evolve through The Blacklist seasons has delivered sweet notes of recognition, of commonalities that resonate with us all. It's a foray into the human condition. The shrewd and cunning criminal, highly dangerous is himself discovering within himself, various types of love, depths of compassion, and a sense of fair play, and even of justice, with the right amount of twisted. The episode that aired April 17th was poignantly satisfying. Red does exactly what needs to be done, and perhaps what many of us would like to do, as he delivers his brand of justice to the greedy and negligent gun manufacturer. It was Red's finger that squeezed the trigger, but it was my finger too. Satisfaction a-la-carte.
I agree, love this show but Spader is ridiculously awesome. Sometimes Keen (aka Megan) pisses me off.
Please watch his earlier work. I can provide examples if necessary (he will always be Steff or Alan Shore to me)......lol

Started it in December 2024 and I'm already into Season Two. Love it. James Spader puts me in mind of Patrick McGoohan in The Prisoner. I wonder if McG was an early influence.

Love James Spader showing his OCD-ness with chair switching. Even after that, you could tell he totally hated those chairs. The creators just watched him like "Yeah....he does that....a lot." I adore you James! Thank you for sharing your talent with us through the years! I kind of fell out watching James for years, then one day, with nothing to watch after a binge on Hannibal I decided to try Blacklist. Not my usual show to watch so I went in a skeptic. Welcome to my new obsession.

Please watch the following movies: Pretty in Pink, Sex Lies and Videotape, Wall Street, Wolf, Crash, Bad Influence, White Palace, Dream Lover, True Colors and Secretary (aka the original Mr Grey). Afterwards watch TV series: Start with The Practice (only season 8...last season) and then Boston Legal (the next chapter of the practice but all Alan Shore), this is the GREAT James Spader.
If you still only claim this man to be Raymond Reddington or Ultron, your ability to see great acting will be REVOKED! Lol just kidding. He's not the prominent role in every movie but still awesome.
I can't think of anyone who likes those chairs. James got up, all cool and changed it. No drama... He's that other great character actor and has done so much. After The Blacklist finishes, the next project will undoubtedly be another wonder.

After years of putting off this show I have finally given it a chance this week and after finishing these first ten episodes I cannot think of another show that’s gripped and enthralled me more. James Spader, Megan Boone, and the rest of the cast have been phenomenal with these characters. Watching James and Diego during James’ monologue about what he wanted was some of the best acting I’ve seen in a long time. I can’t imagine what’s in store from here on out.

Only started watching the show on Netflix a couple weeks ago , binge watching now in season three, James Spader as Red is what keeps me entertained, he is just great.
how can every scene with reddington be so fantastic? and for 10 years straight. the writing for him and his delivery makes you hang on his every word. it's rare that a character can make me feel like he's real. i'm quite sad i cant watch it against for the first time. there's nothing like not knowing what red will do next. Or when you think you know. 😅😨😄😱😭🥰

Me and my wife are from the UK and have just finished binge watching this. We actually cheered out loud when Denbe came back in the last episode of season six and we are in our late fifties lol and are seriously hooked.

The complexity and mystery in theses characters are compelling.

I never expected I would look forward to every episode every Tuesday here in the Philippines. I would not accept any invitation or I would I see to it that I am at home already before air time. I love every episode because the stories are done so intelligently mind boggling and would make you really think critically. I love the cast; they are perfect for their characters; the creators are young people but brilliant. James Spader and Megan Boone are brilliant and the rest of the stars always give justice to their roles. You are all amazing and Blacklist is great show!!!

This show keeps me up all through the night even when I know I must go to work in a few hours... Red killed this show, I fell in love with James spaders act in Boston Legal, but this one, blowsssss me away.... I love Lizzy but she is soooo indecisive and head strong sometimes.
Didn't love his character in Pretty in Pink, but loved how well he played the role. Fell in love with him while watching Stargate. He is the perfect fit to play Red.
