@@rosalieleilani7466 I said chores. Not cleaning up after yourself. Theres a difference. One is for the better of the entire house that you might not of even had any part of while the other is simply personal responsibility and self cleanliness. Mowing the yard would be a chore. A kid isnt cutting grass he threw out in the yard. Picking up after yourself would be like cleaning your room, picking up your trash when you're done, etc. See the difference? They said chores so I'm going to assume it's a little more than keeping their own room clean and picking up after themselves... And yes...I absolutley believe in allowance for family chores. It teaches them responsibility and how to do a good job when done right. You dont pay them when they dont do it or do a bad job to get done quickly. So yes...I believe in allowance for chores. I believe in teaching kids responsibility. Therefore, in this situation, the money shes losing from chores should make up for the cost of the phone as the parents are essentially saving money that they would otherwise be giving her for her chores. If she gets a job and saves up enough money to buy her own phone, so be it.
Power_struggle55 I don’t think she would have to pay back the first but buying a new one for yourself is fair, but losing allowance is too much and should only lose allowance for a bit if losing at all
2ndstory: Nuh uh man. Breaking your phone by MISTAKE is accidentally dropping it down the stairs. Breaking your phone intentionally for social media IS NOT A MISTAKE! If that girl can't appreciate her privileges she doesn't deserve them.
Breaking your phone intentionally for social media IS NOT A MISTAKE! it is a mistake. Her mistake. she has to take responsibility in her desicions bad english
@@andreaskavak2364 Mistakes are accidents. She broke her phone, full of confidence that her parents would just get her a new one for the internet. She made a choice. A bad choice.
@@andreaskavak2364 my son wanted me to take his 'points' which meant he would lose his licence if i didn't. in victoria australia, you can pretend it was not you in the car & not lose points & so on. i refused. my son lost his licence for a few months, it inconvienced his father, as my son is a baker so had to start work at 3 or4 am his father wasn't happy, being that he drove him to work i kept sleeping, my son learnt a lesson. i have NEVER taken responability for anyone's (children included) actions
I agree with OP for not buying her teen daughter a new phone when she purposely destroyed her old phone. Then deciding that her teen daughter needs to get job to learn the value of earning money from hard work.
NOOO you should give her anything she needs whenever she wants it! Never punnish her for her behaviour! Pay Pay Pay that is what a 'good' parent should do ! lol
If she was my Daughter, she'd lose ALL of the Electronics that she didn't pay for and wouldn't get them back until she's paid for the IPhone she deliberately destroyed. In addition, ALL of her Allowance would now be directly applied to paying off her debt and she would be expected to get a part-time Job and give me at least 50% of each Paycheck until the debt is fully paid off. After that, all she'd get from me would be low cost, bottom of the line electronics (such as a flip-phone that can only Text and make/receive calls but not run Apps or go on the Internet) until she's demonstrated she knows how to take care of her property. If she wants something that's Higher-End (like another IPhone), she can use her own money to buy it.
If businesses stopped giving in to the demands of entitled people they would realise that tantrums aren't rewarded. Unfortunately, that's not the case and these tantrums will continue. At least it keeps the entitlement subreddits full!
Idiot Manager should thank his Lucky Star that I'm not his Store Manager since the instant I heard he gave into a Tantrum and rewarded Bad Behaviour, I'd Write him Up for it. If it was his 3rd Write-Up, he'd be immediately Fired WITH Cause!!!
problem with giving into a Karen's demands? she'll come back and expect the same result. Next time she might come in and grab a $50 toy (maybe more) and say she found it in the $10 or even less area (I think thats what she did this time. she started off small).
At my old job our managers would let customers get away with ripping off price tags to use the generic prices in the computers (they often did this to $30+ designer items to get them for $13 or less) the first time. As loss prevention, we had to remember heir faces or the head cashier would and refuse to do it a second time. Then they would scream and argue and we got to kick them out. Sometimes they would claim they saw the same item with the cheaper price but didn’t bring it to the registers to prove it and didn’t know where they saw it, they thought we would believe that crap
I knew a girl named Tuesday and her sister was named Monday (nicknamed Monkey). They were named after a poem. In the poem, "Monday's child is fair of face" and "Tuesday's child is full of grace." They were actually pretty popular, very sweet and funny. Monkey was older, but they were in the same year. Bullies didn't bother them, and if anyone ever brought up their names, they laughed and said their parents wanted to be different.
@@NixyRose72 The key word there is 'girl'. Tuesday as a girl's name is fairly common...but for a boy, lol NO. Others guy's would shed him with that name. Might as well name him Louise.
Tuesday is a common name for girls at least. Google Tuesday Weld. There are also lots of literary references to naming girls after days of the week. What’s weird is that Tuesday is a girls name. 🤨
I told my son if he wanted a phone, he had to pay for it,(just like I did at 12.) The kid bought his own phone at 9yrs old. If he can do it. Anyone can!
"I found the perfect baby name in a book I was reading. Tuesday!" What book was she reading? Her planner? A calendar? The dates & times vocab section of a language textbook? When I hear people naming their kids after days of the week, I immediately think of Wednesday Adams. I also think months, seasons, and geographic features are weird choices. (April, Summer, River) And before anyone attacks me too hard for that last opinion, my middle name is May.
In the first story, I am not a fan of the manager giving the discount to the EM. You know that she is just going to continue doing the same kind of thing.
$20 would say that EM moved the toy there herself or is simply claiming to have found it there to get it for her price and that she didn't actually find it there.
Yes, management needs to support their employees! I hated when the rules said one thing, and we tell the customers that, and then the manager overrides what I said. One job I had, we were even supposed to tell the customer that the manager would tell them the same thing, when they asked to speak to a manager, but then the manager would tell them something different, making us employees look like idiots.
@@2Blessed ,Well the manager will always make sure that they get customer satisfaction 100% because they’re getting the bonus and you are not. That bonus is one Bonus to them,It’s more important than having a friendly work environment! Because what corporate doesn’t see corporate doesn’t know. Because if those cameras don’t have voice activation but have video it doesn’t matter to corporate because the manager will spin a deal to make you look bad and get you fired in the long run. But they’ll still get their bonus for 100% customer satisfaction!
There are many famous women named Tuesday, and Wednesday is used on the Adam's family. It is a girl's name. Come to think of it, many days many women have been named after days of the week, but I have never heard of a man.
I actually watched a movie called "What Happened to Monday," and ALL of the main characters were named after the days of the week. They were WOMEN, and even then, I thought it was strange (especially Saturday and Sunday, but that's just me). Movie's good though. Watch it! (Lol)
Phone smasher needs to get a job and pay for her own phone. It wasn't broken by accident. It was done "for likes". She needs to learn real responsibility. Paying for her own phones is a darn good lesson.
No way " Tuesday " is a good name for a child, like op said, a unique name is good, but it sounds silly to name a child Tuesday... even a regular name like Charles, William, or William sound better than Tuesday.
To the daughter without a phone: What if you worked hard to buy your mom a Mother's Day gift then, your mom records herself on social media throwing it in the trash or fireplace. You can't tell me that wouldn't hurt. When a child practically throws away something that, was bought out of love because, they thought their daughter needed a phone. Only to find on social media that, the daughter didn't appreciate it. Don't you think that this and the lack of respect might be hurtful to your parents. A parent sometimes puts the childs needs before, their own. You can always replace a phone but, you can't replace the person that, gave it to you.
Mr. & Mrs. Smith that’s true I mean come on if they split up in the first place they should not have started dating again because something was clearly wrong in the first place
What's wrong with Tuesday as a name the girl from Adams family is named Wednesday and wasn't Thursday named after Thor and isn't Tuesday named after Tyr (spelling may very)
@@brockash6754 Naming a BOY Tuesday will be nothing but problems for that kid, you can name your child whatever you want, but don't be surprised when he comes home from school crying everyday...
She isn't the jerk in the story of the daughter and her not allowed to get a new one after smashing the phone. I would never smash mine intentionally. Even accidentally I have those consequences. Its something if she really cared for she wouldn't have been some clumsy with. Also could someone link the story so I can comment their.
Hi Mr Reddit! Thanks for helping me with my anxiety at night. 💖 Listening to these stories with your voice helps me immensely. Thought you deserved to hear a thank you for helping me! 💖🙏🏻
I sometimes wonder just WHO or WHAT a Karen/Darren has to hear the rules and regulations from for them to accept that "the price is right" or "the Law is the Law". Obviously, for Karen, it HAS to be someone of SENIOR MANAGEMENT but WHAT is "Senior Management" to a Karen?! Is the Manager? The Owner? The Ruler of the Country? GOD!?!
@@HappilyHomicidalHooligan I take your point but I'm talking about when a Karen finally figures out, if the CEO says she's not getting it free, she's not and she'd best go home
Karen: can you hear me now?! Mr.Reddit: hears mess up voice and static. Karen: Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Hey r/mr reddit, Only found you recently but thanks for making this content- It's really entertaining and just listening to them makes me excited, Thanks man!
Oi glad she kicked out that free-rider, and the name argument... "She hated the name but agreed if she could name the next..." Next kid: guy-"I hate it, no you can't!"
The name argument it’s true she has the right to name the kid but i think that the guy is being to nice he is also providing for a kid that’s not his own Honestly everyone sucks in the situation so if this is a little harsh
I agree they should have come up with a name they could agree on for their daughter. However he does bring up point about giving the kid the name Tuesday, will give a good chance that kids will pick on him for the name. He is not a free rider they broke up she conceived the baby with another man, who wants nothing to do with her or baby, and now they are back together. However I doubt this marriage is going to last if they can't agree on how to name the kids without resenting each other
@@karencarter18042 the guy had a point, but lost the point when he acted like Charlotte isnt a set up for being made fun in the future. Kids will pick on kids regardless of their names, and considering Charlotte's Web...yea...shes not going to be free from being picked on just because her name is common and Tuesday isnt. It's a mute point and he completely disregards that fact. At least with Tuesday, he can associate with a god of war. But Charlotte? Shes just got a spider looking out for a pig going for her.
@@RhaenarysTuesday is a not the god's name it is a day of the week derive from a god's name. Kids are more likely to know about Charlotte's web over that the days of the weeks come from mythology. If you named the baby Ares, kids would know that is a god of war name but likely think Mars is just a planet. Also there is a Charlotte North Carolina
Lol! I've had the same thing happen to me when I worked at a store a few years ago(first story). The mother eventually got so mad at me when I said she couldn't have the toy for a quarter of the price because somebody misplaced it(I checked where she said she found it, and it was obviously misplaced). Our store was in a closing sale, and because of that it was extremely busy. People threw stuff they didn't want everywhere in the story. Literally everywhere. Because it was so busy, and it was a small store, it was super hard to put the things back in the same place in time. Her son threw a major tantrum and the mom started yelling at me and blaming me for his tantrum. She then said the famous "I want to speak to the manager!"(in Dutch tho). When that took too long she decided to throw the rest of her shopping at me and my register. She said she was never coming back, and walked out with her son screaming super loud. The funny thing is that I saw her a few weeks after that because our sale went from 50% to 70%. I looked at her, but she made sure to avoid all eye contact with me 😂
The irony of the girl who smashes her expensive iPhone on social media to rub it in everyone's faces about how rich her family is, and then calling her parent narcissistic for not going along with that is mind-blowing
I actually knew a girl named Tuesday and even her last name was unique. No one ever made fun of her but that was also in the 90's and in Canada so maybe it's different.
If the EM in that first story had actually formerly worked there, then she knows just how much of a problem it is for businesses to deal with customers like her. It makes her behaviour even more reprehensible, IMHO. I despise these people who make such a scene to make an unreasonable point.
If you found a £1,000 + telly on the same shelf as £15 Bluetooth devices, does that mean I can get an ultra-HD TV for £15? Let’s go the other way - put the £15 speaker on the same shelf as the £1,000 + telly - will the shop charge me more than a grand for the speaker?
@@arthurvasey LOL. Funny how people like this man can never see how ludicrous their demand is, even if you turn it around as you did in your example. I gotta keep that argument in mind for next time I see someone trying to pull that stunt.. The three or four times I have witnessed this kind of hissy fit I didn't have a good come back, so thank you for providing me with some ammo if I see it again!
Second posting. I agree w mother. I worked w a overindulged teen, and she got a 300$ phone in her 'signature' color, and day after Christmas, she has a fight w boyfriend over phone, and threw phone across room. Someone picked it up, luckily not broken, and asked what she would do if she had broken it, and her reply? 'I don't care, It's not money that bought it.' Don't let your daughter be this girl! Make her get a job, she needs a year to save money for phone and use money she earns for other things she wants.
@@Darkrose517 True. But why should you kid have a 'special' name at all? Or one of those names that nobody knows how to spell (not even the child itslef before it turns 12 :p ). A chilkd should be special with a 'normal ' name! there are names enough to choose from!
Karen be like:Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
The phone story reminds me of my ACTUAL Narcissist step mom ;-; she would call me un apperciative for the littlest things and blow it wayyyy out of proportion
I once dated a man whose last name was Beach. He told me over dinner he'd always wanted to name a daughter Sandy. I can never keep my mouth stifled when I need to and suggested that since he intended to make her the butt of countless jokes over her name, he should just go the full distance and name her Pebbles, Waikiki, or Muscle. The relationship went downhill shortly after that.
First story sounds like something that happened to me. I watched a customer put an item on the shelf in a place that has discounted items and came back 15 minutes later and picked up the item and came to the register to buy it and said it was $29 instead of the $79 original price. He didn't realize that I watched him put it there. I could have gotten into trouble for saying that I watched him put it there and came back and picked it up again lol
That is messed up that that woman dumped her fiance over his medical illness 😡😡😡☹. She complained about his illness being lifelong but hers was too, and he didn't leave her for it!!! Sir, don't feel bad for you response to her when she asked if she could ever get back with you. She was a very inconsiderate person who uses others and imo she deserved it
Not excusing her but that is kinda the point. If they both have lifelong illnesses it would be a lot harder on them as a couple. Though it seems the main reason is she thought she had someone healthy and able bodied to look after in her bit on the side.
@@cocoidiea8643 I agree that it would be hard on both of them but if they truly cared about and loved each other (which the man did but unfortunately the woman did not), then they would have found a way to make it work
OK the woman who has a boyfriend leave and cry you’re putting him on the street. Damn you missed a bullet. I think you need to work on your self-esteem and self worth, because whether you realize it or not you’ve been living with a leech!
Story #2 NO. Mom was right on with not wanting to raise a narcissistic brat. The girl's appreciation factor for what she already has (had) needs to go way up!
That kid breaking her phone really does need to learn some responsibility, having her work and learn the consequences of her actions is about the best thing that could be done here. Though I do agree the flip phone is also necessary if just to make sure the kids safe
On naming the girl Tuesday; He made a deal. She didn't like the name he chose but she accepted it. It's her turn now, and her choice regardless of whether or not he likes it. Besides what's wrong with Tuesday? I remember a song called Ruby Tuesday and girls are named after months and seasons all the time. April, June, Autumn, etc.
So my 5 year old isn't very good at taking care of his things. He got his kids tablet smashed (it was stepped on) because he didn't put it away which he had been asked to do 3 times before it got stepped on. So we made him do extra chores for us and other family members to pay for a new one. (Picked up sticks in the yard for 10 bucks etc) Which we might not have done if he wasn't so flippant about being able to just "get a new one." He had to pay us the cost of the original (which we actually got him a much nicer one and covered the difference) the money he "paid" is going into his account we set up for him when he was a baby. The deal is we will buy the first but then he will have to replace any that he damages/ doesn't take care of. (Which we will then put the equal amount into his account without him knowing) i hope he won't be that teenager in later years.... i wouldn't be covering the cost for that nonsense at all.
Girl should get her own phone. A 'mistake' would have been for her to accidentaly break iy. Also, woman naming her kid Tuesday? She really needs to consider her choice for the sake of her child
2ndstory: it's a bit of both. One thing I've always hated is when my parents always kept one really stupid choice over my head for decades, but I see also your point. The identity then, I think, is to find a middle ground. The phone thing I think is a good idea, so maybe start to give her a MUCH smaller allowance so she knows what it's like to have to wait and save for things until she gets a job to help increase that. Something like that.
I HATE when managers give into the Karens and let them do or have anything they want. That is WHY they act that way everywhere they go, because they are used to getting their way and learned how to work the system to make it happen. The Karens is NOT always right, and should never get their way, EVER, for anything.
Growing up, I got my first phone at 12, and within a few months left it in my pants and mom washed them. My grandparents owned the plan and surprised me 6 months later with a new one (completely unexpected). I broke that one within a few months too, so I have to wait another year to get a new one. I’ve gone through a lot of phones until my senior year of high school and was much more careful about it (helps they’re more resistant also). It really sucked those times I didn’t have a phone, but I never EXPECTED my family to buy me phones, they were given as gifts, very expensive gifts. NTA, but should maybe be a little less harsh, maybe she can earn back privileges. Idk though, I ain’t got kids yet, just was a kid.
To the guy who's wife wants to name the kid Tuesday. This would be funny. The book she read was probably "The Addams Family" as the son was named Tuesday and the daughter is named Wednesday. Naming the kid Tuesday will get him teased and he will be called a freak and a ghoul.
6:14 yes and no. no you are not the jerk because she tried to take advantage of you and you are justified in not buying her a new one after she PURPOSELY destroyed the phone you gave her. and partially yes as she still deserves to get payed for any work she does. just deny her a monthly allowance until the amount of allowance she would have earned equals the cost of the phone she broke.
To the AITA, Nope. She destroyed property just because “Mommy and Daddy will buy her another one”. Actions have consequences. If she wants something after destroying one that was given to her, she should work to pay for it.
Interesting names are...one thing...naming your kid Tuesday is just begging for confusion later on. Also just begging for them the butt of Popeye saying jokes. Bonus points if you get the reference.
Not the jerk, make her get a job and pay for it herself, the best way to learn the real value of money. This happened to me about 70 years ago, when on turning 16 the one thing i was desperate for was a motorbike. My father offered to go to the motorcycle shop with me, which i thought was odd at the time. He really didn't want me to get one. So in the shop, i'm drooling as to which bike i would like. I knew a top of the range was out of the question so opted for something, mid range and second hand but good condition. At that point my dad triumphantly said, yes i could get that one, but did i have any money to buy it with? If not i'd better get a job so i could pay for it. I obviously didn't get what i wanted that day but a couple of years later got a rat bike, that i had to pay for and maintain, it sure taught me the true value of money.
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday are all common English girl names. They go back to an old tradition of naming girls after the day they were born. Wednesday Adams and Tuesday Weld are famous examples.
That child does not deserve a new phone, it sounds like she had it too easy if she thinks that her parents can simply " buy another phone" stuff costs money, and she needs to learn to respect the value of money.
To the woman naming her son Tuesday. Your kid is going to ask you why when, he gets older? Your child as, he gets older, will have a mind of his own. Dad you'll need to be there to back up your son when, he wants to change his name because, he can no longer handle the bullying. If your on your son's side about this because, it wasn't you that named him, you will be the kids favorite parent. Make sure you both are able to afford to take your child to self defense classes because, kids can be mean so, he may need to defend himself. Be prepared for the school to call you when, your child fights back. The up side to this is that, the man named Tuesday will never forget what his mom named him so, he will never give any of his kids any weird names because, he wouldn't want his kids to go through what, he went through as a child. Dad, you can tell your son that, you tried very hard to get the mom to choose a different name but, she was determined.
My kid (if they smashed a phone) wouldn't have a phone or any electronic that they don't buy for themselves. You can wear them out by using them normally, but purposefully break a phone and you'll be without one.
Mom that won't get kid a phone after she smashed it. I had a similar situation with my 2nd oldest teen daughter. We don't give the kids allowance and anything they want is set at a budget( like shoes or anything extra) the kids are expected to clean up and do chores because it's a life skill. When my teen broke her phone i won't replace the phone because she smashed it thinking i would get her a newer upgrade from what she had which was a smart phone but without tons of memory and extras but she could get on social media. It has been about 2yrs and she still has no phone. She should appreciate what she has and take care of what she gets. Kids are privileged to have phones it's not required to get your kid a phone.
Do not worry too much about sister. Choosing beggars are better at taking care of themselves than people think, and after babe is born, and she wants babysitter or some such, you will hear from her.
Phone story, it's not that the kid was careless with something expensive, it was about her whole entitled attitude about her parents' finances essentially spitting in the proverbial faces of her parents. Their money is not for her to waist, it's to feed home and clothe her, daughter rose a massive middle finger to that, in my opinion, I'd only give her the very basic essentials after that, and for added measure, I'd reset and re password the wifi
It's not his kid, she hooked up with a "life long friend" when they broke up, then they got back together when she was 6 mons pregnant, that's why she threw in his face that it wasn't his kid, even though naming a boy Tuesday is ridiculous lol
As someone who had the struggle of naming a child... I think the man could have handled it better if he didn't like the name. Even after he flat out laughed, he could have apologized for laughing then asked to at least talk about the name and why it may be a bad idea for the child.
I bought my kids their 1st phone which were simple flip phones. If my kids wanted a more fancy cell they needed a job and save for it. I also bought both my kids their 1st game system however refused to buy games. If they wanted games they could buy them theirselves. If they wanted more than what I got they had to save up and pay for their selves. I did however purchase a game for birthday and such but after spending $60 on a game my son traded it to game stop for so much less so I felt I just wasted $$. Never again. I felt they took better care of their stuff if they had actually saved their money for it instead of just getting it for free. If they broke it they would have to save up the selves to get a new one so they took better care of it. Now my kids are both adults and work for what they want instead of becoming a entitled kid.
I heard that a good rule for naming a baby. If you won't vote for a president with the name you are going to give your baby, don't give your baby that name. I told this to a friend's sister , she said that she would have never voted for a man name Grover Cleveland,. To which I told her that is good we know one name she is not giving to her baby .She named her baby Calliope Marie,
No, I wouldn't buy her a new phone. She did break the phone on purpose and posted about it before she broke the phone. She just doesn't understand about money.
Maybe the mom doesn't want to buy her a new phone because, of her daughter's attitude. Did she ever appreciate getting the phone that, she broke? Daughter calling her mom names and throwing a temper tantrum doesn't show that, she is sorry. This daughter's actions shows entitlement. Maybe the mom doesn't want her daughter to grow up to be like a Karen. If the daughter would display less entitled behavior, maybe mom would buy the phone for her.
Stores should never give in on items that most likely another customer put in a wrong spot. You give in to people like that and you are sending a wrong message that the squeaky wheel gets the grease, so they will continue their bad behavior....it is just like giving in to a spoiled child because they threw a fit. SMH
For the phone one, phones are too important now to not have one. There's far too many reasons to need them between needing them for jobs, some accounts like email need phone numbers to recover them which themselves are needed for basically everything. I'd get the cheapest thing that do email and authentication and phone calls, but that's it. If they broke that too purposely, then they get no phone until they pay for their own. Maybe have them do a ton of chores to pay off the old ones and then let them work up to getting a new one. But as much as I know it hurts people, especially kids to be on their phone all the time, it really is a necessity these days once they're to a certain age. Early childhood I'd still recommend having a very simple one that let's you track them in case they got lost and let's them call if they need help. They really are useful and I can't imagine not having one, even if it's like a limited data plan for $14 a month.
I don't agree. You can verify email with another email (I've opened a few of my own, so I know). Do you REALLY think this young lady should be given a phone (even a CHEAP one) after she PURPOSEFULLY broke an expensive phone? I think not. And if she works, she can ask to use the work phone for necessary calls. If she's NOT working, she can borrow a friends (I've done this too!). Phones AREN'T a necessity- they're a commodity and a luxury. Kids in other countries go without phones, work at young ages, AND help at home/go to school. I believe we're just so dependent on tech that we THINK we need it, when we don't. I didn't have a phone until I was in my late teens, and my kids wont have one unless they pay at least SOME for a phone/have a job. I believe it's important to teach our kiddos that money doesn't come easily, and that working is important! Giving in because a "phone's necessary" isn't reason enough. Even doing housework doesn't pay for an expensive phone....
The daughter smashed the phone deliberately because she was angry, knowing mom would buy her a new one. Then posted about it. I would make her buy a new one. I would have made her buy the original and the service plan.
The cell phone girl she did it on purpose in a video saying my parents will just get me a new one. They should get her a super cheap one that only calls and texts
Seems an acceptable compromise for the teen daughter is to look into getting the iPhone refurbished. We are getting to a point in our society where having some sort of phone is a necessity.
The boyfriend was living rent free but, not working. I think it was rude to take her dad's charger. If the boyfriend wasn't buying the food then, why should he care if someone eats the food. I'm sure the girlfriend would of bought more. She probably wouldn't of let him starve. How ridiculous. The boyfriend needs to grow up.
for the parent of the child who smashed her phone. i wouldn't buy her a new phone if she is old enough to work i agree she should get a job and her first paycheck should go to you to pay you back for the damaged phone. yet if she is doing chores around the house then give her an allowance but take out some money to pay back for the damaged phone. i was raised by my grandparents and that is what they did to me if i damaged anything of my sisters or theirs. and vice versa for my sister. it taught me to value other people's property and to be more careful since i learned things were expensive and sometimes could not be replaced.

Karen has yellow hair, I can’t see any thing else as the screen cuts off there
Hi Mr reddit
The 28 was my bday too
Phone buster needs to get a part-time job to buy herself a new phone.
op said if she got a job she'd have to pay him back for the phone she broke first
I think her chores without allowance should count as paying it back.
Ahlamkin why do you think cleaning up after yourself should be rewarded?

I agree with OP for not buying her teen daughter a new phone when she purposely destroyed her old phone. Then deciding that her teen daughter needs to get job to learn the value of earning money from hard work.
The daughter should look up what a Narcissist is, (she is acting more like one than the parents) and she should have to earn getting a new phone.
You're so right. Businesses need to stop this. Karens and their kids will never stop when they keep getting away with it.
Props to the mom who won't buy her daughter another phone. She's right- this is the kind of stuff that makes kids feel so entitled. I respect it.
problem with giving into a Karen's demands? she'll come back and expect the same result. Next time she might come in and grab a $50 toy (maybe more) and say she found it in the $10 or even less area (I think thats what she did this time. she started off small).
Yeah, pretty much.
She will pay corporate first and those spineless losers alway take the side of the customer!
Give an inch and EM will take a mile
At my old job our managers would let customers get away with ripping off price tags to use the generic prices in the computers (they often did this to $30+ designer items to get them for $13 or less) the first time. As loss prevention, we had to remember heir faces or the head cashier would and refuse to do it a second time. Then they would scream and argue and we got to kick them out. Sometimes they would claim they saw the same item with the cheaper price but didn’t bring it to the registers to prove it and didn’t know where they saw it, they thought we would believe that crap
@Sergio Bicerra unfortunatelly, corporate will almost always see it like that
Why would you name your child Tuesday? That could honestly get him bullied.
Gyre cree
Andrew Laino honestly it’s as if she is so trapped inside her bubble she doesn’t realize kids have the capacity to be cruel
I knew a girl named Tuesday and her sister was named Monday (nicknamed Monkey). They were named after a poem.
In the poem, "Monday's child is fair of face" and "Tuesday's child is full of grace."
They were actually pretty popular, very sweet and funny.
Tuesday!"
What book was she reading?
@@codytheisen5655 ,Well most stores these days have cameras everywhere hopefully this was before cameras were allowed in stores
Tuesday is named for the Nordic god of war, Tyr. That, alone, would deter me! LOL
DO NOT NAME A BOY TUESDAY. DO NOT NAME A BOY BY ANY DAY OF THE WEEK. He will hate you for it.
There are many famous women named Tuesday, and Wednesday is used on the Adam's family. It is a girl's name. Come to think of it, many days many women have been named after days of the week, but I have never heard of a man.
Better than such overly common names
The third story really was harsh, my mom has cancer as well so that must have been really hard on that guy I feel sorry for that dude.
To the daughter without a phone:
What if you worked hard to buy your mom a Mother's Day gift then, your mom records herself on social media throwing it in the trash or fireplace.
The story with the mom trying to name the kid Tuesday op should just leave her
He should've never gotten back with her in the first place lol
Mr.

She isn't the jerk in the story of the daughter and her not allowed to get a new one after smashing the phone. I would never smash mine intentionally. Even accidentally I have those consequences.
Hearing Karen scream HAIR IS THE MAT FUEL?! made my night...
I looked at her, but she made sure to avoid all eye contact with me 😂
Good morning/night yall!

You never never give in to entitled people.

Story #2 NO. Mom was right on with not wanting to raise a narcissistic brat. The girl's appreciation factor for what she already has (had) needs to go way up!
Tuesday for boy? Poor kid he will be tormented for at least 18 years!
OP is NTA for not buying her daughter a phone "Play stupid games win stupid prizes"
Me being sleepy and hearing Karen after first post: Wait... you said break or brick? Thinking about it... maybe he should give this kid a brick.
They absolutely should not have changed the price of the toy.
Hi mr reddit I’m sorry that I was not early today I hade tutoring this morning when I got the notification and hi karen

I actually know someone called Tuesday, however is it a woman, so I guess I don't find it weird as a name
Dude you’re videos are really dope!!!
Never get in between a daddy's girl and her overly generous father. Kick the bf out. He's no good.
I think the guy on that story with baby naming needs a DNA test now. That’s the real climax on the story. We need an update.
It's not his kid, she hooked up with a "life long friend" when they broke up, then they got back together when she was 6 mons pregnant, that's why she threw in his face that it wasn't his kid, even though naming a boy Tuesday is ridiculous lol
Mr. & Mrs. Smith oh man this guy is playing with life. Idk what I’d do then.
@@chbbmnky Yeah, he should've never gotten back with her, she's obviously not a good choice 😏
Teach the daughter she has to work in order to get a new phone. She needs to learn responsibility. Parents are trying to be good parents.
Hey Tuesday, don't you wish it was Friday?
Make the girl pay for the phone or have her wait til, she is due for an upgrade. The boyfriend needs to get a job and pay his fair share.
Find the Karen awenser is...There everywhere
I heard that a good rule for naming a baby. If you won't vote for a president with the name you are going to give your baby, don't give your baby that name. I told this to a friend's sister , she said that she would have never voted for a man name Grover Cleveland,. To which I told her that is good we know one name she is not giving to her baby .She named her baby Calliope Marie,
Keep it at full price!
Tuesday is actually after the God of War's day, TIU, so she wants to name her son after a God of War from Roman Theology.
Do not reward bad behaviour! Mom you are right!
Full price, allowing this behavior just perpetuates the problem.
No phone, same reason as above.
Tuesday is a girls name.
First one, the store should NOT have lowered the price.
Hello Mr. Reddit, I hope you are having a great day ❤
Thank you Pinkfan, same to you!!! 😎
I would be willing to get the flip phone, but mainly so she can call for emergencies and have a working number for job searching.
The daughter shouldn't get a new phone at all. She is a spoiled brat it's not a jerk move that is parenting.
