    Reminds me of tuning my old truck by ear with distrubuter way back when. Thanks.

    At one time many diesels had a special bolt to lock them in the flywheel housing. You just had to unscrew them turn it around and when you found TDC the bolt would then screw in and the pin on the end would go into the flywheel. I suppose the few pennies of cost is too great now or it's another ploy to get you back to the dealer.

    We had one of those in the shop the one year. Injection pump was on backwards like that one. On this model we had to lift up the cab to get the bolts out....

    Well done Guy. You are going to have a real nice tractor to work with now.

    I like your process. Sounds good. On 6.2 and 6.5 gm engines , we had a tool that you torqued the timing gears so you took all the slack out making the timing more accurate.

    Great set of videos! Unfortunately, I seem to be chasing another issue on my TS115A. It died while I was driving it under no load. I have changed the fuel filter, replaced the mechanical fuel lift pump, and now replaced all fuel supply lines from the tank to the filter. It turns over, but will not fire, I cracked an injector line and I have fuel there. Any ideas?

    will a defective injection pump allow the tractor to run good, but no power and hard to start? lb75b backhoe. 2004 about 2700 hours. replaced the pickup pump and checked the solenoids for fuel cut off. turns over lots of times before it starts

    Nice video. Okay, got a question or two for you. I could hear a little difference in the sound but not much. For my untrained ear, can you describe what you are listening for to know what is correctly tuned? Second question, how did you know which way to turn the pump to head toward the correct angle setting?

    Sounds better buddy. I think you got it. DOes either tractor have a block heater or coolant heater for winter starting?

    • @GuyinWY
      @GuyinWY  7 лет назад

      +nashguy207 negative. I have a mag heater to throw on but it’s going to be an interesting winter.

    You are a great guy with good intentions. You are honest, hard working with unending energy to tackle all this mechanical breakdown stuff. Time is Money and you are throwing mucho good dollars after bad money. This is chasing a Tractor instead of having one. Buying an 8500 hour tractor is like marrying a woman with 5 kids, You are not going to get out of this alive. My suggestion is to cash in your Jewish Insurance policy and apply some Instant Boy Scout to this Tractor and roast some marsh mellows. All of these tractors in this class are 10 Thousand hour tractors,. the closer you get to that number, the closer you get to driving a Buick up your ass with the lights on.

    Cant you adjust that while its running ? Like we used to do back in the day with distributer cars ? ( stall Timing) that always was best anyway cause it accounted for gear lash and worn parts,,, just star tractor warm up then turn one way tell smother then the other way tell ruff then back to smooth then lock it down,, just curious buddy ,, just a idea.

      It's a little harder than "swinging the dizzy" on a petrol engine, with the steel diesel lines giving resistance to it turning. But nice to hear it improving!

    • @halberto9o8
      @halberto9o8 7 лет назад

      Also, I imagine the torque required to operate the injector pump is quite a bit more than what is needed to rotate a spark ignition distributor shaft that is only spinning a rotor and the cam shaft for the points. It may be hard to hold onto with your hand and adjust once the locking bolt is loosened.

    shouldn't the pump be turned in the slots against the direction of rotation when installing the pump?..Yeah, easy to say now...For those who might think of "saving time" never loosen the pump mounting bolts and turn the pump by hand with the engine running...Just never, good way to lose a hand..
