What you carry is interesting, but why you carry it is facinating. Deep dives into your equipment choices, and the story's behind the decisions to carry, or not provide context and insight. Please continue with the campaign bag, and current Sawyer's bag. I may never go to a wildland fire, but knowing what you take, and why may help me be prepared for other emergencys, or at least a better reaction to something.

The nice thing about the chest rig for the radio is where your anntena ends up. I've noticed our structure guys are using an old style leather shoulder harness that keeps the radio low at the waist, same as on your belt. The problem being shielded radio waves. As long as you remember to turn around when your radio doesn't work you're fine. Lol.
I used a chest harness in search and resq for many years and it does get in the way sometimes but for me it's worth the life safety aspect of my radio working. That said I have dropped the radio into a side pocket and used a remote antenna on my pack. Not an option if you have to deploy and want your radio under with you, but man does it work.
Thank you sir, I love all your content. This makes me want to wildland again though.

Yes I would like to see the new campaign bag to see what you kept or lost. I have built my own bug out bag and fight for home bag so I find this highly useful since you have had to insure durability of gear. PS. 100% agree on the Leatherman Wave. The best tool to have camping, hiking, and deep sea fishing.

Just a tip not to be a stickler but I’m watch guy and I think you might enjoy this tip. If you wear your watch behind your wrist bone it won’t move around on you, you won’t need it as tight, and it won’t hit the back of your hand. It’s also the proper way to wear a wrist watch.

I enjoyed the heck out of this dual video as I too was a volunteer firefighter. I did not do wildland per se but did do rural pasture land/farm land type and of course in town structure. I did carry quite a bit of the equipment that you have here. I served 25 years on my small town fire department.

The jerky is good. But a little tip from former military. Under stress 1 m.r.e. can last a full day. Entree when you can, brown rice later and so forth. Also have a chocolate bar. The m.r.e. will give you the calories all day and the chocolate bar will give you a burst of energy when needed most! Keep the chocolate inside the blanket

Heck sometimes 6 liters of water doesn't even cut it, really gotta suck down the water when it gets above 100. Worked for a state fire kitchen, loved it, but unlike those fancy caterers, no AC, swamp cooler, adequate shade or any proper ventilation, just a refer truck to duck into to cool down. Cooking massive amounts of food it's 110+ is pretty intense.

Im loving this. You should hold classes about this stuff. Im sure the recruits are instructed on everything fire and tools. Im in California fire country (which is now almost the whole state). California drought and fire.

Couldn't agree more about the wool! I'm a total believer. I've had issues with hot, swollen feet and realized my skin reacts to anything synthetic. I wear darn tough socks year round now as well as merino base layers when it's cold. Pricey stuff, but you will never regret investing in it and my feet never get hot now. Plus if your socks ever wear out Darn Tough will replace them for free so it's actually cheaper in the long run!

    Cody,
Saw your set of spare batteries at the top of the screen. You may want to consider or take a look at the Storacell instead of taping them together. It comes in a couple different sizes and provides a bit more protection for preventing accidental shorting. I use a couple different units depending on battery for holding my rechargables when out hiking.

Thank you for your updated firefighting bag content video. My nephew is just starting his second season in wildland firefighting. He watches your videos, as do I, so we have another topic of shared interest. I especially enjoy specificity, so please go into detail on each item--not just the what but the why you choose what you choose. I'm sorry to hear that you are shortening the length of your commitment to fires from 14 to 7 days because it's people like you, the seasoned fire fighter, that is so very needed not just for your expertise in many aspects of fire fighting and training and assisting the next generation of fire fighters--perhaps even my nephew. On the other hand, I understand setting boundaries based on your priorities and values in order to balance all your obligations in life.

I have been bingeing your videos today at the station and really enjoy seeing what other guys have in their Wildland gear! As a firefighter/paramedic I would like to see a video on your IFAK. One thing that I think you should add especially as a sawyer is a tourniquet to the outside of your pack, so it’s easily accessible. One of the semi recent lessons learned talked about a fire fighter that was killed due to a injury to his leg, I believe, that led to him bleeding out. Now I’m back seat driving here but a properly placed tourniquet may have saved his life...
