“I stole her heart away and put ice in its place” I really love Helena’s delivery when she said that line. I can feel the emotions in that line. It’s as if she’s sad
I agree.. I love the book but haven't seen the movie yet (downloading now). Half way through the trailer i had to turn it off as it's giving the whole plot away... What a spoiler!
I know people seem to automatically assume that everyone has read every classic in existence for some reason, but it still seems really dumb to spoil the entire plot in the trailer.
Anytime I see Helena Bonham Carter, Ralph Fiennes and Robbie Coltrane I cannot unsee Bellatrix Lestrange, Voldemort and Rubeus Hagrid!!! EEEPPPPPPPP!!!!
There's no way in hell this movie can truly embody the true pain and struggle Pip feels in the book. The inner turmoils he has to face is truly painstaking in the novel and in the time of a movie this could not be achieved guaranteed.
Thumbs up if you also noticed that practically all the characters in this film play a role in the harry potter movie series: Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix/Miss Havisham, Ralph Fiennes (Voldemort/Magwitch), Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid/Mr.Jaggers), Helena Barlow (Rose Weasley/Young Estella), and Jessie Cave (Lavender Brown/Biddy)! I half expected Magwitch to try to use "Avada Kedavra" on PIP XD LOL
Azizi Cuddles we watched this in class and as one of them annoying Harry Potter fans I got really annoyed when someone said oh it’s Bellatrix (or any of the others) and I always muttered the name of the actress/actor 😂also I thought Biddy was Jessie Cave but I couldn’t quite see as the room was really bright 😂
Magwich is the most compelling character in this novel. He shows up out of the fog, disappears for decades, arrives out of nowhere and is like the darkness and smoke, impossible to hold. In literature, only Long John Silver comes off more mysterious and agile in this regard. Eddie Izzard plays him superbly and with graceful subtlety. You won't be disappointed in Robert De niro's interpretation of Magwich however, and the modern take on this classic is stunning. 🙃
I saw both versions. Overall, the BBC version is better than the movie, mostly because as a series it captures more of the book than a movie possibly can. One thing I will say for the movie is that the performances by the three principal actors (Jeremy Irvine as Pip, Helena Bonham Carter as Miss Havisham and Holiday Grainger as Estella) are amazing.
I'm surprised this didn't get very much attention... it seems to follow the book rather well! Although I pictured Havisham a withered old hag, Magwitch a corpulent man with a crew-cut, and Jaggers a tall black man. But that's just me.
14torre1 I agree, I liked it too. At the same time, why do not they write new subjects and leave masterpieces alone? They reply a million time the same script. But they will never touch Dickens' genius. It's impossible to make a movie that does not disappoint readers. Especially those readers.
helena herself could make a great estella. since i read the book as a kid, i've always dreamed her with long brown curly hair and heartbreakingly beautiful eyes. another issue, i think this is a story which can be told only in its own era. it cant be updated like the one with gwyneth paltrow. in today's time of knowledge, finances, communication and dating pool its impossible to feel the need to grieve that long or be that obsessed about someone.
Curiously enough, the director of the other Great Expectations movie (1998) is Alfonso Cuarón, the director of Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban.
I saw the Masterpiece Classic adaptation that actually was made a year before this movie, and let me tell you that Helena Bonham Carter was born for the role of Ms. Havasiham! I understand the story now, more than before, and didn't even need to read Dickens original. I am so excited for this you don't even know! Classic Lit is my life! British movies are my life! Put them together, and poof! Magic in a gold box!
ROSE WEASLEY! HOW DARE YOU BREAK THE INNOCENT BOY'S HEART AND BE WITH BELLATRIX LESTRANGE! YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER ARE NOW FACING AN INQUIRY AT WORK AND IT IS ENTIRELY YOUR FAULT! IF YOU PUT ANOTHER TOE OUT OF LINE, WE'LL BRING YOU STRAIGHT BACK HOME!
I've juz finished this novel and watched the trailer.. It is beyond my expectations. Really liked the actors and cinematography...😍😍😍 it is MARVELLOUS! Excited to watch the movie..
I read the novel's first few pages, and i loved it...I wanted to read more but it was of my friend, and he needed it for his english class tommorow. Then I found it in the library, and I found it at the end of the period.and the period was over and then I couldn't find it.I was really sad.
Wow, Voldemort, Bellatrix Lestrange, Hagrid & Rose Weasley together. I definitely wanna see this movie! Seriously, Jeremy Irvine is just so talented. Can't wait to see this.
I know this story. It was on PBS but it was a master piece classic one. (I'm obsessed with Master Piece Classics by the way) and I cried at the end cause the story really is so heart touching and the whole story is just beautiful I think. all I know is you have to watch the Master Piece Classic one too. I definitely watching this one
I studied great expectations in english. After the summer, i forgot what it was called. We watched a ton of Charles Dickens movies and they were app so good!
Why the frick is this not talked about more, or on any streaming platforms?? It has Helena Bonham Carter in it for heavens sake. It deserves at least some attention. The movie itself was great too and Helena didn't outperform the other actors in my opinion.
Has this thing been released? It looks good and Id be glad ta give er a go and watch it,,,,,Love Bonham,,,shes quite a trooper,,,lots of spunk,,,,quite fearless actually,,,,DD in L.A
“I stole her heart away and put ice in its place”
I really love Helena’s delivery when she said that line. I can feel the emotions in that line. It’s as if she’s sad
If you haven't read the book, this trailer is one long spolier.
I agree.. I love the book but haven't seen the movie yet (downloading now). Half way through the trailer i had to turn it off as it's giving the whole plot away... What a spoiler!
True 😂
I have it as a home reader novel in 5th grade
19 damn chapters
Factual😂
Holy hell I am a third way through the book thanks dude! I thought since it was a trailer it would not reveal much but guess not XD
At first I was like "OOH! Bellatrix!"
But then I was all like "HARGRID!!!"
And finally "OH MY GOSH VOLDEMORT!!!"
is it me, or is this the girl who played Rose Weasley?
Huh... She definitely looks like it when she's younger..
Candidpop The little girl definitely was the one who played Rose Weasley! I just researched it because you pointed it out! XD
I did too...It just jumped out at me though....:)
Me too😂
1:43
"But you deceive him?"
"yes, all men but you"
Wow. Was I the only one who got goosebumps at that?
nop
I watched it over and over like 10 times
Tra gic Even in the book, that line has to be one of my favourite lines
yes
She’s the ho of the 18th century. Even in 1860 you cant turn a ho into a house maid. ALOAH, Pip!
I know people seem to automatically assume that everyone has read every classic in existence for some reason, but it still seems really dumb to spoil the entire plot in the trailer.
It's not like this is a famous movie that's been made several times...
Anytime I see Helena Bonham Carter, Ralph Fiennes and Robbie Coltrane I cannot unsee Bellatrix Lestrange, Voldemort and Rubeus Hagrid!!!
EEEPPPPPPPP!!!!
+nickelback 101 and there's also Lavendar Brown.
Aditi M and Rose Weasley too.
"You kiss my hand as if I was a queen..."
"WHO AM I TO BE KIND?!"
Love HBC!
It's like a Harry Potter reunion!
.....How?
Because of Finnes and Carter?
+Katherine Daniel Jessie cave/Lavander brown/Robbie coltrane/Hagrid /helena barlow/Rose/Helena Carter/Bellatrix/Fienes/Voldemort
Seriously?
Sweet christ, did the director just watch harry potter and concede that he didn't know any other actors?
Actually, he didn't watch it, he was the director of Goblet of Fire
I agree with you
I read this is my Honors English class and fell in love with the story. I can't wait to watch the movie! It looks amazing.
I am extremely excited about this. This is the type of adaptation I've wanted to see for so long.
It's really good in my opinion, it's a shame it's not on any streaming plaforms
There's no way in hell this movie can truly embody the true pain and struggle Pip feels in the book. The inner turmoils he has to face is truly painstaking in the novel and in the time of a movie this could not be achieved guaranteed.
Right exactly
Exactly. He went to hell and back. His sister is such a horrible lady man
Well said
"Its not natural","It is natural in me"-favorite line
The trailer is so balanced like the novel itself.....a perfect combination of tragedy, drama, action and thrill....cant wait to see the movie :D
I love that they kept some of the most important and recognizable lines from book.
2:24 is a great shot. When they kiss, and the tear falls....OMG THE FEELS!!
Azizi Cuddles Lol hahahah
Omg lol. And in Sweeney Todd: the demon barber of fleet Street had Helena bonham carter (Bellatrix) Alan Rickman (Snape) and Timothy Spall (wormtail)
No one with taste cares about that stupid Harry Potter.
One of the best novels ever written!
No, just no
@@antigamer1013 based on the books by the author that gave you a Christmas Carol

I’ve read the book and now I will watch the movie...... never watch the movie before the book ..... always the other way around, my dear boy!
OMG Helena is the perfect Miss Havisham! :)
This trailer literally gives away the whole entire book!
I watched the BBC Version of Great Expectations...with Douglas Booth and I loved it.
I hope this movie is as good as the series!
I'm currently reading the novel and this trailer helped me to picture everything in my mind.
I'm surprised this didn't get very much attention... it seems to follow the book rather well! Although I pictured Havisham a withered old hag, Magwitch a corpulent man with a crew-cut, and Jaggers a tall black man. But that's just me.
The BBC version had all the right actors in my opinion.
I agree; I started watching it, and I can already tell that I'll love it.
14torre1
I agree, I liked it too. At the same time, why do not they write new subjects and leave masterpieces alone? They reply a million time the same script. But they will never touch Dickens' genius. It's impossible to make a movie that does not disappoint readers. Especially those readers.
In the masterpiece version, the daughter looks the same age as the mother grown up
jaggers was suppose to be a tall black man as given in the book
Read the book when i was eight and i still remember ever detail
Anime Forever mate if you read that book when you were eight and write like that then I'm Osama bin larden.
HazzerTheHawk i knew you were still alive

Anime Forever it's and not ans, how can you have read such a complex book and not be able to spell simple words.

Anime Forever Apologies, I didn't realise how hard it was to write on a phone keyboard (I haven't been writing this whole conversation on an iPhone).

Oh mee tooo! Read in sixth
@@ladyriddle1984 same bro 🔥🔥😁
I love Ethan version. The way he looked at gwyneth always takes my breath away whenever i saw it. Madly deeply in love eyes.
Helena Bonham carter is the one actor i would picture playing Miss Havisham
Just watch the masterpiece version and you feel like this role was meant for her.
"Love her, love her, love her!!" So was PIp's curse. And Estellas.
I still remember the word "he's a common laboring boy" and "you may break his heart"
Bellatrix, Voldemort, and Hagrid
Malxndra13 Don't forget Lavender Brown!! haha
+Azizi Cuddles and Rose Weasley.
They call me hagrid
@@ohacinderella4655 and they call me artist, they call me idol!!!! One songs lyric lol🤣🤣BTS!!!! 😘😘😘

Oh cool, they just gave away one of the biggest literary plot twists in the trailer
so cute how much he loves her, omg
Nearly finished the book. It is a fantastic read.
I'm so glad they finally made a live, feature length film from the South Park episode
Basically Harry Potter without the wands.
helena herself could make a great estella. since i read the book as a kid, i've always dreamed her with long brown curly hair and heartbreakingly beautiful eyes. another issue, i think this is a story which can be told only in its own era. it cant be updated like the one with gwyneth paltrow. in today's time of knowledge, finances, communication and dating pool its impossible to feel the need to grieve that long or be that obsessed about someone.
HELENA YOU GODDESS
This was one of my favorite books as a child, i'm hoping the movie does it justice.
Believe it or not yes, lol. I was like thirteen. But of course the writing is always different from the visuals
i just finished watching the movie . it was unexpectedly great i loved it very much
It's ok. It's a bit Americanised actually. You had better watch some of the previous ones.
If you have read the book, you know that the trailer basically told the whole story. well done studio!
I read this novel when I was a kid .. Estella was my biggest love of my child heart ..
Curiously enough, the director of the other Great Expectations movie (1998) is Alfonso Cuarón, the director of Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban.

This is like half the cast of Harry Potter in this!!!!(exaggeration, but SERIOUSLY) This is awesome!! And the director too!!
Helena Bonham Carter makes the best witch in the world!
Great book of all the time. One of my best book I did at my literature subject.
This is consistent with the novel and the 80s cartoons. Nostalgia...
What is the music to this trailer? It's beautiful. Haunting.
I get alot of us have read the book, BUT THIS TRAILER GIVES EVERYTHING AWAY....
Seriously, there is a 2013 remake of this movie? The one that has Gwyneth Paltrow in it is soooo good. It's even better than the book.

The trailer is literally the summary of the movie
Watched the old version and it was amazing, can't wait to see new one

The movie is interesting
Nothing compares to the BBC version (actors, locations, story) pure PERFECTION!!
A beautiful memory's of my school days nondetailed
I adore Helena
I saw an older version, not that old. From only a year or two ago. It was wonderful.
Know when to bow out gracefully.
So many versions of this movie but the book is fantastic
Im in grade 11 and I’m watching this movie because in my English book there’s a episode about this story well I’m lucky that I found this movie
I've been reading great expectations and Magwitch is my favourite
I really hated this book in high school, but thinking back it was actually pretty good. Maybe I'll pick it up again.
I absolutely hated this in high school too, just couldnt finish the last Act, and this does feel pretty good
2021, I'm here because of Helena ♥️😁

Nothing will top Deniro/Paltrow/Hawke version. That was epic.
1 of Mt favorite movies!
I remember reading the book it was sad but humble at the end.
i have cried reading this as a kid!
I studied great expectations in english. After the summer, i forgot what it was called. We watched a ton of Charles Dickens movies and they were app so good!
I kept thinking of a series of unfortunate events instead of great expectations.
saw this in the cinema like a year ago....keep up!
just finished reading this book in school today :)
what happened in the ending please ?
Pip goes back to visit Joe and Biddy, and also meets up with Estella. They sorta get together I think, but the book kinda leaves it open ended
+barrelraces456 500 pages :'(
I did at home for school today as well
I'm reading it at the moment by choice, I'm really enjoying it
To the ones asking, I only know the first song and it is: The Eyes of the World by Dúné. If someone knows the name of the other two, tell me please!
It's not a matter of if. It's a matter of when.
holliday is gorgeous 💗
Well, what do you know... Helena Bonham Carter looking crazy again :)
No version of great expectations will ever beat the bbc to series it's as so well done
I love this story! I saw it in English class before. Lovely adaptation!
Why the frick is this not talked about more, or on any streaming platforms?? It has Helena Bonham Carter in it for heavens sake. It deserves at least some attention. The movie itself was great too and Helena didn't outperform the other actors in my opinion.
I'm here because of Mike Newell. He directed Donnie Brasco Harry Potter Traffic and this movie. He's one of the best directors in my opinion.
Woooow what a great Movie !!! Of course it is !!! Helena is in it ! ❤️❤️❤️ and i really love when she Said " who am i to be kind ! " lol 😂💕✨
I spot Bellatrix, Hagrid, and Voldemort! :D
This looks like a great version of the story.
I'm glad this follows the setting of the book better than the one with gwyneth paltrow
I've seen the South Park version of this Book(watch the episode "Pip") now I wanna watch this movie
It was a great movie. Oh my.
Thats what brought me here. One of my fav SP episodes
