I know people seem to automatically assume that everyone has read every classic in existence for some reason, but it still seems really dumb to spoil the entire plot in the trailer.

I half expected Magwitch to try to use "Avada Kedavra" on PIP XD LOL

I agree, I liked it too. At the same time, why do not they write new subjects and leave masterpieces alone? They reply a million time the same script. But they will never touch Dickens' genius. It's impossible to make a movie that does not disappoint readers. Especially those readers.

Magwich is the most compelling character in this novel. He shows up out of the fog, disappears for decades, arrives out of nowhere and is like the darkness and smoke, impossible to hold.
In literature, only Long John Silver comes off more mysterious and agile in this regard. Eddie Izzard plays him superbly and with graceful subtlety.
You won't be disappointed in Robert De niro's interpretation of Magwich however, and the modern take on this classic is stunning. 🙃

I saw both versions. Overall, the BBC version is better than the movie, mostly because as a series it captures more of the book than a movie possibly can. One thing I will say for the movie is that the performances by the three principal actors (Jeremy Irvine as Pip, Helena Bonham Carter as Miss Havisham and Holiday Grainger as Estella) are amazing.

I know this story. It was on PBS but it was a master piece classic one. (I'm obsessed with Master Piece Classics by the way) and I cried at the end cause the story really is so heart touching and the whole story is just beautiful I think. all I know is you have to watch the Master Piece Classic one too. I definitely watching this one

i guess it's a great movie in itself, but it is totally different from Dickens' book. Personally, based on the trailers, I think this is the best version of all.
