I think the reason why boxer was so successful was because of his ability to not only micro harass and do serious damagewith very few units(as evidenced by this vid) but also to seriously outproduce his enemy at the same time. a true legend.
Wow... boxer is amazing in the clinch. I kept saying to myself the whole game "great, you've found a weakness July, now rock his economy!" but he never did. Still july is the best zerg player I've ever seen. The control he has over the swarm is astounding and I've never seen anyone throw boxer for so many loops with such varied attacks. wonderful, thanks for posting (well all your vids heh)
Wow. That was one of the most amazing SC games I've ever seen. I can't belive how fast July's micro is. It was so fast it made me dizzy. But it was a good video. Gave you July's perspective which is what I liked.
I remember this game from Boxer's point of view, AND the VOD... These two were just Monsters. Pure, unadulterated beasts. Boxer's TvZ is just too brilliant.
One thing I'll always admire boxer for is his ability to harass his enemies mineral line, keep most of the units he uses for it, not interrupt his own builds and be planning another attack simultaneously. Imho july has the better recon of the two, boxer just has a sense of when he is keeping his opponent busy enough that he doesn't have to scout around too much. Really fascinating to watch. Thanks for these and your MANY other uploads violet.
He did group those scourges by pressing shift key, de-selecting 2 scourges from original group of 6 scourges. Then did the same thing again, making 3 groups of 6,4,2 scourges each. Of course later 4,2 scourge groups are part of original 6. The purpose of the control is to make it easier to target units that move in groups - target one with 6scourge group, then target another with 4scourge group, then another with 2scourge group. Then you are targeting 3 different units 2 scourges each.
what you're saying can confuse people. in order to get to a certain part of the map quick there are 3 ways i use: 1. shift+F2(or F3 etc.) which noobs don't use at all, 2. hot keying and then pressing the number twice to bring the screen to the group, 3. just clicking on the mini-map. spacebar brings you to the most recent transmission so it's not a set location.
@BladePenguin Playing under alias ManofOneWay in SC2, or everyone assumes so because he has insane win rate at ELL top matches (over 60%) and the only other account with about the same rate of win is slayer_boxer
Could anyone tell what July's upgrades were this game? I may have missed it because his APM is insane, but I think that may have been a deciding factor.
@STarCRAFT4BRITS You can't really have maphacking in a proleague game, they both sit in the same room and have live spectators and people watching the actual screens they use. Plus, I doubt they install SC on the computers they play on themselves :P
@Roobiin111 Defilers have been known to cannibalize other zerg to fuel the metasynaptic processes that generate the biochemicals, often accompanied by zergling escorts for this very reason. (source: starcraft.wikia.com) So yes, it does give the defiler energy.
alright i looked at it again, the OL continued moving as units dropped.. my new theory is that he spammed through the hotkeys and clicked the first unit slot for each until they were all empty. 1click2click3click4click repeat.. it could be done pretty quickly since you don't need to move the mouse from that spot unless u want to burrow lurks right as they come
You're correct, but just FYI, late game Z can be played more macro style. The whole game could be played macro style if you can contain T, but he has siege tanks, so that's really never an option. You can contain him with muta micro, but that requires micro, which you don't want :P
wow, now that I think about it, I should do top right to bottom left. If I end on the left, it'll be easier for me to reach the minimap and the unit selection. Hmmm something to think about
he had the ol hotkeyed separately and told them all to unload all units in 4 different locations, something like 1-u-click, 2-u-click, 3-u-click, 4-u-click.. thats just a guess..
wuts the "one missing" something they talk about which lead july to lose? they talk bout it when july is attackin for the second time boxers base. anyway, the way i see it, he just got too cocky. i thought he was gonna win though.. XD
amazing comeback by boxer, i was amazed at july's macro and micro. im just wondering how does boxer get the money to come back like that? first harassment by boxer. then a come back by july but not good enough to crush boxer then i guess the tables and favors turned to boxer. GG indeed.
The spore is still the one of the 3 with the more HP, and that sure helps. Also, he did try to make one at 5:15 but it failed because there was always a drone in the way. Still, even if you think that the spore is the worst anti-air building, is it a reason not to make some? He sure wasn't gonna build a turret or a cannon instead..
@jorumpl I think that the Protoss are the easiest to play. Micro wise, they have little to do, the peak coming around Storm or possibly Reaver drops. Macro, they also don't have too much on their hands to deal with, as they don't expand as much as Zerg or Terran. Terran are medium (Zerg being hardest) as they require little macro ( Stims is not that hard to remember) and they require a lot of Micro. Zerg require a very large amount of macro and a bit of micro. Macro is hard due to larvae
I understand the mechanics of it I was just questioning if its what he actually did considering how fast it happened plus you dont see him clickin the pics to deselect. And again even if he did it doesnt even seem like he created new ctrl groups considering how fast it was. Unless ofcourse he had made the groups earlier on and i didnt notice it
Basically, only melee attacks and splash damages will hurt the units inside the orange gas. So if you were to say... attack zerglings inside the orange gas with dragoons or goliaths or wraiths or hydralisks, they won't do any damage. However, with siege mode tanks, firebats, zerglings, zealots and other melee attackers / splash attackers, u can do damage.
I wonder why this was marked as spam.. It's called splitting, you can find a few videos on RUclips to help you, but you select all 4 workers, and move them to a mineral patch. Then hold shift, and unselect one of the workers so you have 3 left in your control. Move them to another patch, and so forth, repeat until all are split. Hope that helps, considering I am answering you 6 months later..lol
nono. it all depends on timing and how you macro/micro. these guys would obviously beat you with any type of unit so idk why you are criticizing their strategies??
im really surprised that julyzerg lost that one. from the mid to end game he simply devastated boxer, wiped out practically every expansion boxer had, and decimated his army repeatedly. And he lost.
There has been many pros in Starcraft that come and go buy BoxeR is still my favorite. Probably because he's so good and a Terran player for the most part.
@benkenser he didn't, that was only a computer error. You can double check by trying to spam all the buttons and using an APM counting program. BTW, i mean comparing to most SC progamers nowadays he's just not fast :D Peace
i used to think the same way; zerg is more like just-build-and-send and terran is more unit control than anything. but i'm starting to realize how wrong i've been. first of all there's a huge difference between micro and being busy. terran is the most work-requiring race in my opinion but when it comes to micro, in order to reach zerg's full potential, zerg needs more micro than the other races. the base-building and unit-creating is the small part and micro is the big part when it comes to zerg
And more advanced artillery and ordinance is also tech, as is infantry technologies. Sorry, but you're wrong. The prolific use of caster-units is definitely not "Terran-like", at least in terms of how Blizzard probably intended the race to be played in the majority of cases. Seriously, just take a look at it. There's clusters of Science Vessels. It's almost Zerg-like in number.
I'm really suprissed that July Didn't win. I mean, he had all those units while Boxer didn't have anything at one point. And the all of a sudden Boxer comes out of nowhere and kills july's economy and spams science vessels. Well here is what i don't get. How come he didn't spam Sci Vessels in the first place?
Kick butt asian, ur comment about sauron zerg is pretty funny. with more resources and unit producttion, i could acheive sauron zerg too! lol. basically what ur saying is "If he had gone sauron zerg, he could have went sauron zerg." gg
she/he is hotkeeying there are 2 ways... Ctrl+1 (or any number) that will let you get to the unit thats hotkeyed and the other way is Shift+F2 (or another F) that will get you to a specal part of the map

wonderful, thanks for posting (well all your vids heh)
This is unbelievable play by both sides. Boxer is not normal.
Wow. That was one of the most amazing SC games I've ever seen. I can't belive how fast July's micro is. It was so fast it made me dizzy. But it was a good video. Gave you July's perspective which is what I liked.
golden era of progaming.
Hey, I need a bit of help.
It it seriously inefficient to get an evo chamber just for spore colonies?
If july had ONE of those, no wraith harass.
Boxer... a true legend on Starcraft...
nostalgia
I remember this game from Boxer's point of view, AND the VOD... These two were just Monsters. Pure, unadulterated beasts. Boxer's TvZ is just too brilliant.
Wonder if there is a JulyZerg vs sAviOr match ...
oh. my. god. This dude is so good at SC, love watching these pro vids.
One thing I'll always admire boxer for is his ability to harass his enemies mineral line, keep most of the units he uses for it, not interrupt his own builds and be planning another attack simultaneously.

@Roobiin111 Yes, the Defiler (after Research) may consume a fellow Zerg unit for 50 EN.
He did group those scourges by pressing shift key, de-selecting 2 scourges from original group of 6 scourges. Then did the same thing again, making 3 groups of 6,4,2 scourges each. smooth fpvod. what kind of software did you use for this? mine drops fps and sometimes lag
what you're saying can confuse people.

@ lezii (second page if you're going from newest first)
you obviously havent seen any of julyzergs other games
the last attack was awesome!
irritiating his own vessels.... man that was really nice
Could anyone tell what July's upgrades were this game? I may have missed it because his APM is insane, but I think that may have been a deciding factor.
Over a decade old and still going strong.
@STarCRAFT4BRITS You can't really have maphacking in a proleague game, they both sit in the same room and have live spectators and people watching the actual screens they use. Plus, I doubt they install SC on the computers they play on themselves :P
Julyzerg is f***ing fast man. love the part where he use dark swarm to push the terrans back.
@angelos7
yeah this video seems smoother than the original game

watch scourge ctrl micro at 15 min mark
Im kinda confused exactly what he did; seperate them into diff ctrl groups? nehow he did it very quick
oh wow good point. I just stuck with what i felt comfortable with. I never really thought about that.
he had the ol hotkeyed separately and told them all to unload all units in 4 different locations, something like 1-u-click, 2-u-click, 3-u-click, 4-u-click.. thats just a guess..
whats the name of the map? this looks gr8 :D
wuts the "one missing" something they talk about which lead july to lose? they talk bout it when july is attackin for the second time boxers base. anyway, the way i see it, he just got too cocky. i thought he was gonna win though.. XD

Man I can't believe boxer pulled that out, that was awesome
whats july zerg's apm in this video it doesnt seem as high as pros these days
epic battle here.
julyzerg at his prime, versus the emperor. what more can i say?
I like to watch to FPVOD videos :D
is there a BOXER version on this??
@RMJ1984 I miss the old Hydra 75mineral, they looked like frigging sharks and tore crap apart very mineral efficient and small
@Roobiin111 yes,an ability called consume
You DO know that toss is the "weak" race right now in the metagame?
I find it amusing that boxer apparently knew exactly where the first Zerg drop would be.
*cue Admiral Ackbar*
boxer isnt retired, he's playing in pro league right now for the air force ACE gaming team..

@FoXMaSteR001 Starcraft2 OST surely is bad, we missed all the voices D:
he is labeling 6, 4, 2 scourges so he can spread em when he attacks
its weird, in sc2 the zerg base seems so cluttered and every base does but in sc1 it just feels so empty
holy shit
gg
july had the game in the bag, but couldn't hang on to it.
nicee boxer!
but wouldn't you just use hotkeys for the abilities anyway? O.O
Who won?
so who wins?
I wonder why this was marked as spam..

who wins ?
wow a dream match. this is like seeing shaq take on wilt chamberlin
there both really fast and good at mm, i was surprised that july lost.
Its making me dizzy watching this.. how can he go so fast?! >.O
awh man... I wanted July to win lol
Good vid!
what are you talking about? watch the 15 min mark and watch the units he has under control...then reply
spore colonies hard to make?
what this map`?
nono. it all depends on timing and how you macro/micro.
these guys would obviously beat you with any type of unit so idk why you are criticizing their strategies??
yes, bluejay is correct, so while usually ineffective, sieged tanks can, on occasion, deal damage to unit bunches under dark swarm.
haha! july's drop got totally annihiliated. all hail the emperor =]
Insane micro with the defiler.
how they dont get dizzy or epilepsy playing like this :/
lol. That's because the Emperor's strategy is about comebacks :P
im really surprised that julyzerg lost that one. from the mid to end game he simply devastated boxer, wiped out practically every expansion boxer had, and decimated his army repeatedly. And he lost.
There has been many pros in Starcraft that come and go buy BoxeR is still my favorite. Probably because he's so good and a Terran player for the most part.
if ur talking about scourges, it's so he can easily target more than 1 wraith
lol. o, there they are at 6:30.
And then I was like, NO tanks?
and then, there they are!
July is the master of low economy fighting.
@benkenser he didn't, that was only a computer error. You can double check by trying to spam all the buttons and using an APM counting program. BTW, i mean comparing to most SC progamers nowadays he's just not fast :D Peace

fun fact about July he has the longest winning streak of all time, smashing Nadas previous record.
And more advanced artillery and ordinance is also tech, as is infantry technologies.

aye, i saw him try a low econ build on monty hall that was crazy but unforunately he lost
ever play a TvZ on battle royal? good luck.
HOly shit...that was FAST!... I hear 10 unit sound effect in 3 seconds time!
because toss has the simplest concept off the 3 races
wow........amazing
boxer fighting , great game
I'm really suprissed that July Didn't win. I mean, he had all those units while Boxer didn't have anything at one point. July doesn't scout enough, he ovie drops into a deathtrap
uber good game, thought boxer was gonna lose=)
that was freakin insane
I noticed that most progamers select from top left to bottom right. I select top right top bottom left. how about you people?
lol, you're Lecaf, and I'm Bisu.
anyone kno what happened to boxer?
woe ive never seen him do cloaked wraith raids
I wish I understood what was happening. This looks really cool. Maybe I should learn Korean.
The Zerg is so aggressive.
she/he is hotkeeying there are 2 ways...
Ctrl+1 (or any number)
that will let you get to the unit thats hotkeyed
and the other way is Shift+F2 (or another F)
that will get you to a specal part of the map
great game.
