    We had to do the door window cover because in the winter the sun keep the thermostat warm enough to not run the heat. Great video again thanks.

    The vent stuffers is a great idea. For some of our windows, we have used some cut pieces of regular Styrofoam house vapor barrier, with one sided foil. My wife found some stick-on drawer liner material which even make them look pretty. Our three largest windows are the same size and have a 1/2-in recessed frame around the screen, so the foam just pops in flush.

    Great tips! Another thing I do is place a lightweight small blanket over the window on the sunny side of the RV during the day. I mainly only do this in the bedroom. I just lay part of the blanket on top of the window valence and then let the rest hang down over the window and widow shade. Thanks for the tips and another great video!

    Agree 100 percent. The other thing we use is an awning screen. It does add a little work before bringing in the awning.

    Hi Big Ben ,your 🇨🇦 fans ,Randy and Judy. Went to Lowe's bought 4' x 9' 1in think insulation ,$22 C put in slide behind hidabed and put on wall in bench seating ,much better, also removed drawers and put reflectlux and aluminum tape on outside wall 100% better. Sealed all holes in floor under cabinets ,better. Keep cool in summer and warm in fall ,great topic ,think insulating is way to go..👍🇨🇦🐴🙂🤟

    Great info! We're in the south (currently) and these are some good tips to beat the heat down here.

    I like having block out curtains hanging over my door. Helps to keep out heat and cold and minimizes temperature changes when entering/exiting camper. I can always slide them to the side when it's a beautiful day and I want the door open.

    Thanks! The window shades will be A LOT cheaper than the black-out curtains I was considering. And I had no idea the vent cushions were so... inexpensive. 😉

    You can just get a roll of Reflectix and just cut to fit windows and doors. I used good quality aluminum tape to hold it tight to the glass. It insulates, blocks light, and eliminates condensation in cold weather. I also put them in my slide out closet on the back wall and top. I used some 1 inch styrofoam board on the outside wall under my hide a bed, and even cupboards and drawers that are on an outside wall.

      I've seen reflectix cause mold. Maybe there is a certain way to use it.

    I've added the vent pillows in our 2600RB and they definitely work. I'm going to have to look into the window covers.

      gakrazykajun ya can’t see out of that frosted glass anyway 😊😊. They’re removable (Velcro) so gaining natural light when the weather is nice is still an option!

    You can add something else to your list that the panel you used on your door is good for. I put one of the panels over the skylight in the bathroom. The bathroom seems to be a hole lot cooler. Just a FYI.

    The vent pillows are the best. Our windows are tented but I'm thinking about getting a roll of reflective stuff for the windows.

    Did you get any bad condensation or moisture with the window covers/reflextix?

    • @WanderingWeekends
      @WanderingWeekends  2 года назад +1

      Very rarely. Nothing to be concerned about for sure.

    Already had the vent pillows. I will check out that window cover.
    This summer I’m going to tint the windows, even though our windows are factory tinted they don’t have the same level (if any) of heat rejection as dedicated film.
    You might want to consider this mod as well... unless your air handler already has foam insulation. I did this on our Rockwood before our keys trip last year. Works very well. Did this on our current rig this year but haven’t camped in any real heat yet.

    I saw a guy remove the paneling in his RV Living room (walls)....and I was shocked that the RV has no insulation at all!!! I dont know if thats all RV's but probably so!! He filled the walls with insulation and replaced the paneling. After seeing that ,small attempts to insulate dont impress me. I'm still too shocked that they have no insulation, at all!!

      I’ve watched our model being built. Ours has plenty of insulation all over the place. We’re encased in a cooler basically. Who manufactures your friends unit??

    You said eight dollars and some change for the vent pillows. Your link takes you to the pillows that are $15.69 and the cheapest I see them there is $11 and change. Were you mistaken about the price or is there someplace I can actually find them for less than nine dollars because I’d like to order a few of them? Thx much!

    • @WanderingWeekends
      @WanderingWeekends  5 лет назад +1

      The link I provided now has them at $9.28. Unfortunately that is the nature of Amazon :-( Walmart has the non-reflective versions for $8 but I would certainly prefer the reflective upgrade.

    Be wary of putting the reflective side of the vent pillows facing up. The reflective heat can melt the vent covers. Better off putting the wooly side up still works.

    • @WanderingWeekends
      @WanderingWeekends  5 лет назад +1

      Have you seen this happen? I would love more info on this possible situation...

    • @MrCjmorrell
      @MrCjmorrell 5 лет назад +1

      @@WanderingWeekends I have seen pictures of melted covers. I use the woolly side up. The reflected heat essentially doubles the heat the cover is exposed to.

    I bought a 2007 rv and it must have been made w/out ANY insulation. Why would a decent company build a POS like that, just beats me. I'm probably gonna freeze my balls off
