    I was given a old VX950 Brother Sewing Machine 2 months back. Going to learn how to sew on that one first , U made this so easy to learn. Gone to thread mine today and do some simple sewing projects I need to get done by end of week. Thank you for this! I want to get one like yours for Christmas! This is perfect.

    Thank you so very much for the informative video. I have been wanting to buy a sewing machine for some time now and was on the fence between a Singer and this Brother's model. Both were the same price but the Brothers had a few more bells and whistles and the way I look at it, as long as I'm not paying for them, why not get them. My wife thinks I'm crazy for wanting to get a machine but I can think back to all the times I've tried to hand sew something so I can't wait to get this one. I ordered it last night, so by the end of the week I hope to be sewing something. Thanks again.

      Cary Cornwell I hope you enjoy your machine. It is easy to use, and sews through even thick, denim fabrics. I hope your wife wants to try it once you get it. Sewing can be fun! Let me know how you like your machine.

      AlaskaGranny This is an awesome machine. It's not hard for beginners like me to learn how to use. Very easy to thread this machine. I just have to remember little things, like where not to put your thumb or finger so you won't get it pinched, and, drop the pressure foot before you start sewing. Done that a few times. Once everything is set up and adjusted, it works very well. I am very pleased with it and I thank you again for helping me make my selection.

    Hi Alaska granny
    How do I set this machine to sew a stretchy fabric light weight yoga pants with a straight stitch

    • @AlaskaGranny
      @AlaskaGranny  3 года назад +1

      I have never had luck with a straight stitch on stretchy fabrics. set it on a zigzag or combination stitch so when the fabric stretches the thread won't break, the zig gives it room to move with the stretch.

    Hi.
    I write to you from Chile, my mom has one of those same machines more than 10 years ago however this machine has not been used yet, as we have not known how to use it. The manual is very complex and yet I have tried to make it work. To start threading the thread comes out of the needle. And in the second place I do not succeed in placing the lower thread spool well, let alone threading it. Could you please help me how to do it? It would be very much appreciated. Greetings.

    • @AlaskaGranny
      @AlaskaGranny  6 лет назад +1

      Here is a link to a video I made about how to thread your sewing machine. ruclips.net/video/i4wL18OG8NA/видео.html
      Perhaps your needle is not facing the right direction, or you aren't leaving a long enough thread after you thread it. Pull the thread about 6-8 inches past the needle. The machine will pull the thread back up as it works. Take out your bobbin, the lower thread spool, and look for the arrow. Follow the direction of the arrow when you thread the bobbin into the spot. Hold the thread from the needle, and use your hand to drop the needle once while you hold the thread. The needle thread should catch the bobbin thread, and you pull them up together. Pull a long tail to keep them in place.
      Make sure you are using the right size bobbin. Did your bobbin come with the machine?
      Another trick, if I have trouble with my bobbin, I rewind it just in case there is a problem with how it wound onto the bobbin. Place your bobbin on the top of the sewing machine where the thread spool goes, and wind it onto a different or new bobbin.
      Let me know if these tips help you. Good luck with your Brother Sewing machine. Once you get the hang of it, it is a great machine, and easy to use.

    Hello , i had just got this same machine .., I have a problem with the thread tangling up underneath the fabric (birdnesting)
    .. is their a certain type of thread I have to use ?

    • @AlaskaGranny
      @AlaskaGranny  9 лет назад +1

      emaya rose I use plain thread, and have not had any problem with tangles. Try rewinding the bobbin onto another bobbin, and rethreading the machine. Make certain to place the bobbin in with the thread coming from the side indicated on the machine. Let me know if that helps.

    • @angelprincess818
      @angelprincess818 9 лет назад +1

      Try adjusting the tension. I had the same problem when i started sewing 2 months ago, play with the tension dial till the birdnesting disappears. i noticed my stitches were perfect when i set the dial at "3".

      Last night was my second time sewing with my machine. I had the exact same problem last night!! The thread was bunching and tangling up underneath the fabric. Even with adjusting the top tension dial. The solution? It was the bobbin. Once my friend adjusted it...perfect! It stopped. I also was using basic plain thread.
