    6:04 they sing the same chants as in hockey for the simple reason that it’s literally the same club. The club is just active in many different sports, always under the same name “Djurgårdens IF”. Therefore there is no such thing as “Djurgården FC”.
    I’m not a Djurgården supporter, but be careful to call clubs outside of America for “brands”, because for many supporters the club is a big part of their lives and a lot are paying members to their club.
    (In Sweden clubs are owned by the members and supporters, not by one business man)
    Clubs are much more than just the logo and the players on the pitch. It’s identity, history, tradition and politics as well within the clubs.

    Regarding all different sports being under one 'brand', the connection is stronger than that. Djurgården are 100% owned by their members. All teams has to be at least 51% owned by their fans / members. This makes it basically impossible for a team to relocate their "franchise" due to an owner wanting to rake in more money elsewhere.

  • @51TGM71
    @51TGM71 Месяц назад +74

    Also clubs in Sweden are not brands or franchises but associations, owned by their members and have been since its foundation in 1891 (in the case of Djurgården).

    20:35 football is a very strategic game. Sometimes you'll see a team, just like this, who will just stand around, passing the ball to each other. It's not that they don't want to attack. It's that they're actively looking for that opening that will allow them to go on the attack. That's why sometimes you can have a game where the two teams have well over 300 passes between them, but the game still ends 1-0.

    • @howler19

    The Tele2-arena is now eleven years old, actually. It has artificial turf, but is approved for international games.
    The arena is a bit bare-bones as to amenities, but personally I never want more than a beer and a hot-dog anyway. The architect did a good job with balancing the slope of the stands, steep enough to provide good sight-lines, but not too steep to slow down the pace of people leaving the stadium after the game.
    Djurgården fans are a bit ambivalent about the arena, mostly because it isn't really theirs and is situated firmly in Hammarby territory. There was plans to build one arena each for Djurgården and Hammarby, but the money just wasn't there, and real estate in the East borough is REALLY expensive.

    So nice to see you guys from across the pond experiencing what true devotion to a club is. Allsvenskan may be ranked 24th in Europe but the Swedish ultras and tifos are, if not perhaps the best, definitely at the very top.
    I've been to games in various leagues in North America and it's decisively more entertainment than passion. The exception was Red Sox on Fenway Park. Those fans are there for their team regardless of standings and I hear the Leafs fans are similar. Not anywhere near the dedication we have on football stadiums across Europe but still.

    Tips for the big match .... well: 1) It's AIK vs Djurgården (aka Monkeys) ... as it's at the National Stadium in Solna 2) Expect the game to finish much later than "normal" as there most likely will be distruptions (hopefully only due to smoke, but the roof should be open for this game). 3) depending on what section you're at, you must know from beforehand what way to enter the stadium. If you're at the Dif section, it's a bit more "complicated" than just going to your designated entrance. 4) AIK is a much older club than Dif, around a month older ;-). 5) I hope you already have your tickets. More than 40 000 tickets are sold right now, but the stadium will not be able to take the full capacity (aprox 52k) due to sections cut off between the away and the home crowd. So I guess around 48k would be maximum. AIK had 36 602 in their first game for the season (vs Västerås ....there's a challenge for you to pronounce that team ;-) ) ...
    Good luck!
    PS. The last Dif goal vs Häcken should not have been a penalty, the refs got it all wrong, and has also admitted this.

    It´s the oldest trick in football that towards the end that the team that is winning does everything they can in slow motion because they want to kill time. The referee is supposed to take that and other delays in to consideration (give bonus time to bonus time) before blowing the whistle three times meaning the match is over. The bonus time to bonus time is not officially announced anywhere it´s just to the referees discretion but let´s say the bonus time is +3 often the referee lets the clock run past 90+3 to to account for the delays before blowing that whistle.

At the start of every hockey season, the hockey team gets introduced in front of the home football crowd and vice versa. The Djurgården Fan Shop in Globen shopping split their sales 50/50 between the football and hockey clubs. And the official supporter fan club Järnkaminerna works together with both sports as well. Hard to spell out how you'd pronounce it but the i guess the closest thing would be "Jew-Gore-Den", and the grass isnt real, lets face it we basically share conditions with antarctica 6 months out of the year, the grass is just too expensive to take care of and needs to be changed every other week due to other events in the arena (when they put floors on top of it etc etc). And a hockey jersey is absolutely okey but a lot of people would probably look at you a bit funny since we're the same club (Djurgårdens IF Fotboll & Djurgårdens IF Hockey) but the hockey is more of the old school yellow/red/blue meanwhile the football is dark blue + light blue stripes. And by the way the guy who scored twice in 2 min (Tokmac Nguen) was playing his first minutes for the club just recently transfered. But thanks for coming and make sure to catch a derby against aik, our deranged neighbour from solna north of stockholm. Thats when the atmosphere is the best we've got in this country. We can't remember.) Anyway, we will be in neutral clothing. Is there a set location for where the march to the stadium begins? We want to take part of the Djurgarden march... although we don't know anything about it.

      And btw if your seats are in the stands (Norra stå) I’d recommend being careful with like cheering for Djurgården etc. The rivalry between the clubs is quite toxic and is taken very seriously, so be cautious! Other than that I hope you both have a wonderful experience on game day!

    A question for Swedes.
    what are the consequenses for pyroshows in Sweden? I feel like i see big pyroshows all the time form the allsvenskan, so i was wondering about how big the sanctions clubs face when doing it. Here in Denmark the police and danish FA has lately given out extremely high fines and closed down entire ultra stands because of some pyro and banners that criticized police

    • @SZJZ0
      @SZJZ0 Месяц назад +8

      Swedish supporters does not care about the laws when it comes to football. Pyro and hooligans has been a big culture in Swedish football for a very long time! And nobody will change that. Even the police are scared of Swedish supporters. Plus the Police dont care about pyro since they know they cant stop it.

    • @rojavabashur6455
      @rojavabashur6455 Месяц назад +2

      In Sweden the members of the clubs control the FA so the fines has been removed. Police have been reducing the capacity of the Ultras stands instead and tried with repression. Which only was creating more violence and flares.
      Now its a standoff pretty much and they can ban you from football for basically nothing, its lawless.

    • @Guldberger
      @Guldberger Месяц назад

      @@SZJZ0 very nice that it's also a part of your culture, But that wasn't really the question haha.
      I was wondering more about what kind of sanctions your FA impose on the clubs because of pyro. Since the danish police and FA are currently doing everything to take it away from our fanculture...

    • @michaelkjellander9370
      @michaelkjellander9370 Месяц назад +1

      If I remember this correctly (correct me if I'm wrong), previously the club was fined like 5000 SEK for every single pyro piece, but I think they changed it in 2015 to only fine the club if they aren't following security protocol. Pyros aren't allowed and the people who use them can be fined, but that basically never happens.
      Pyros really bothers me when it fills the stadium with smoke and interrupts the game. In many open arenas (e.g. Norrköping's home arena) it usually isn't a problem, but it happened a lot last year at Djurgården's home arena.

    • @MonkeyBusinessMan
      @MonkeyBusinessMan Месяц назад

      It’s strictly forbidden and authorities are trying to get rid of them. Ultras cover their faces with balaclavas when using them.
      I guess if caught they would be banned for a pretty long time.
      Not sure about the fines these days. The FA have tried many different strategies. Police will be trying to review video to catch the offenders but it’s difficult for them and of course they have more important crimes to deal with than minor supporter offences that most people even find adds to the atmosphere.
