    1. Start before you're ready
    2. Take yourself out of the equation
    3. Expect volatility and use it to your advantage
    4. Always be learning, thinking and reading about the world around you
    5. Know what kind of investor you want to be
    6. Exploit your biggest edge as an investor- a long time horizon

That bit about index fund returns vs the average stock fund investor is such a powerful piece of information, yet it's oddly always such a surprise when people learn about it. Glad you made it one of your six rules!

Hey Rose, I started investing over a year ago and it was your videos that made learning and investing easier to digest, and as a result I've made good returns as a baby investor. Love your content and how relatable you are so I'm super keen to see where you go next!!

I'm so glad you no longer use foul language in your videos! I remember you got mad at me for telling you to stop using foul language in your videos. You have very good advice and I like your channel a lot, but I told you foul language can be offensive to some and you would never speak to someone like Warren Buffet with foul language and you got mad at me for telling you that and now you no longer speak with foul language. Thank you for deleting the foul language from your videos!!! Your content is very good! There's no reason for you to lose viewership because of foul language.

Rose, I also started investing since watching your videos 6 mths ago. I bought some mutual funds as well as lots of individual stocks that I did with emotion. Regrettably I have sold the majority of those stocks and since moved he bulk into more mutual funds secondary to the current market crash. Thanks for being such an awesome you. Much love.

I just started investing in January and everything you say is true. Advice to people just starting- if you start reading on internet forums about how you should buy a stock, you probably should not buy that stock lol. If I could go back I would just invest and hold on index fund stocks, and pick maybe 3-5 individual stocks to really research and invest in after doing my homework on those companies. Back when I started I just pretty much bought 1(ish) stock of like 20-25 companies/industries that were hot and popular, which I wouldn't do again. I definitely waited too long to just dive into stock investing also because I was apprehensive to start- so just start, and invest small if you're in the same boat I was in. You'll wish you started sooner... Great video Rose!

I have a Roth investing question. I started building my portfolio using David Swensen’s asset allocation. Before I started doing so, I bought into a 2060 target date fund. Is it worth it to keep these shares in the TD fund? Or should I sell them to invest more into FXAIX?
Also, what is the difference between FSKAX and FZROX? I’ve only noticed that Fidelity ZERO has an 0.0 expense ratio vs the former’s 0.015% expense ratio

  • @jayhay1237
    @jayhay1237 3 года назад

Many good points to ponder. Having recently finished the book on behavior investing, I find the psychological aspects interesting.
The more you learn, the better you can become. Investing should be a deeply personal experience. Your portfolio will reflect your personal performances (considering appropriate time factors). There's as many investing styles as is people. Be careful trying to apply binary principles to an analog world?
I especially appreciate your ideas on managing adversity. That is key. Everyone is a genius during a bull market. What you do when the ground is shaking is what matters most?

  • @WealthyPanda

I live and die by Warren Buffet saying "as manner of fact my ROI in the stock markets is over 200% last year. As the market start collapsing in 2020, I doubled down on the companies I believed in to have a come back. Every penny I could put my fingers on and I don't believe I will need it in the short term, I doubled it. I even convinced one of my sister's to finally to invest in stocks, and I was able to get her 150% return specially as she wasn't invested prior to the collapse. I told everyone who would listen that as the market collapsing and people getting sick looking at their portfolio, that this is once in generation opportunity and no matter how bad the numbers looks just buy in companies that are well positioned and have the financial to make it through the pandemic without ending up bankrupted.
I agree news are crucial, I don't read every piece of news, but I keep an eye for Google business headlines news, and for most part I can expect if the market is going up or down the day before unless something massively unexpected breaks down. .

No 1:Don't only hope on government for income,
No 2: As an individual look for different self income not only waiting on monthly wages
No 3: Always save the little you can and think of what to do with it when it becomes good for capital
It's 100% Good to have different way to gain income government has failed us so let's try to survive

I quite like and identify with how you see investing less as a technical exercise, and more like a philosophy of life. The advice to take that leap of faith, rather than wait until you're ready; to be curious and learn about the world, using investing as an incentive to read and be open-minded; and to be patient and methodical, rather than short-term and speculative, are lessons useful in all parts of our life. Your points certainly venture into the behavioural dimension of investing, which is great, but go further than that and offer something closer to a world view. I try to take a similar perspective on investing as a "school for life," but you articulate that especially well here and offer some points I'd not considered in my own years as an investor and builder of portfolios for friends and family. You and your channel have a fan in Canada. For two younger Canadian investing RUclipsrs you and your subscribers might like, see the "Plain Bagel" and Ben Felix. Both exemplify the best kind of YT-based investing advice, as does "Investing with Rose."

Im new to this channel. I started becoming more involved in investing/stocks early this year, and this has been one of the most helpful channels so far. Thanks for all of your content and info.
Switching up your videos to a blog style content would be awesome. Better way to connect with the viewers on a more personal level. We wanna see the day-day you. I say go for it. I’ll be watching.

What are your thoughts on ETFs? For example the 3x leveraged tech ETFs: TQQQ & FNGU. They're doing great in my portfolio but would like your thoughts.

On taking yourself out of the equation and having your funds automatically purchase a fund or stock, would you please cover that in more detail? Thanks!

Not sure about what Rose said on this, but the Wall Street Journal for news and Seeking Alpha for stock ideas are some of my favorites!

I feel investing is better than saving. Either investing in your mind, education, stocks,
bonds, or anything that build assets.

Working AND getting your passive income set up is important. A corporate job with a good mentor to shadow even for a couple of hours is the best way to progress in life - that plus the social aspect. Many lessons learned, build your sense, understanding, investments, experiences, network, fun memories and passive income streams.

It was like talking to a toddler."🤣 I've been trying to get my mom to understand Bitcoin for years, and it's been like taking to an infant. A pre toddler. She won't even let me give her any Bitcoin. She won't let me put a wallet on her phone or computer. She won't even take a Nano thumb drive and put it in a drawer. It literally terrifies her. And she's a P.H.D.. We are soo early.

@@biyuwang9952 Just because you have a PhD doesn’t mean your smart. Just means that you understand the curriculum. Most people that understand money will understand bitcoin.

@@biyuwang9952 there are hundreds of coins that have become more valuable with each passing mnth. Hodling tends to work well for most people or get a registered professional like Kathleen Diane Hayden & co . But I really don’t give a damn anymore, because you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink. I am sure I will get tons of interest and questions if I retire or do something silly and buy a Ferrari. LOL
