I admire her, after everything she went through Margaret finally got what was deserved. Elizabeth had a good life, love.. Margaret had never experienced that and pushed away. And let's not forget she was the one that made the war of roses stop forever.
I am absolutely fascinated by Margaret Beaufort. I don't know what it is about her, I think I'm torn between being intimidated by her and also heartbroken by what a horrible childhood she had.
+Jan Maree Carmody I always thought the Yorks were usurpers and had no real claim to the throne. They mounted a revolt and won. They stole the crown and held it for years. Margarette Beaufort was part of the old regime and felt her son was the rightful heir, assuming Edward III's reign was illegal of course.
Jan Maree Carmody The Beauforts were legitimised by Richard 11 but barred from the throne. The cousins war started when Henry Bolingbroke ( Henry 1V of Lancaster) usurped Richard 11.The Yorkists have the stronger claim to the throne for they trace their ancestry from Lionel of Antwerp-3rd son of Edward 111-and Edmund of Langly the 5th son. The Lancasters are descended from John of Gaunt the 4th son. The Beauforts are the illegitimate offspring of John of Gaunt. The Tudors are descended from a welsh courtier and a french princess. Henry Tudor said he claimed the throne "by right of conquest", his claim was tenuous at best.
These were the days when the crown was still being won by battles, Henry the VII really put succession into the Tudor Monarchy and in the end it was all for not because in the end it went to the Stuart's which led to more fighting and so forth and so on, if only Edward the 4th had lived long enough into his adulthood do we wonder how things would have played out differently, history wins out in the end against us all...
The camera shot (which I know was recorded off someone recording from home) was so shitty. The camera cut off most of Philippa Gregory's face and into the trees while she was talking. Great info just poor video.
The Book certainly gives us food for thought and is a source of rich exchange of ideas and opinions . Margaret was undoubtedly a manipulator of events and had a powerful pesonality. Ms. Gregory is an aclaimed historical novelist .

Margaret Beaufort was a fascinating character.
beauforts weren't supposed to inherit the throne even though legitimized... i don't understand how Margaret supposed her claim better than the yorks.

Henry VII claim came from his Tudor side.
And right of conquest.
He was the last king to claim the throne by right of conquest.

Henry was basically the only choice Wales had for their own king
i thought she was married four times??
+Kaylee Cromling She was, but the first was never counted because she was so young. The second was the only one that bore fruit.
