Lamentation, 4. Bargaining

Lamentations is a six movement piece for piano quintet. It follows the five stages of grief. Starting with the first movement, "Loss". It uses one "Leitmotif" throughout the six movements. This melodic idea represents loss and is developed as it progresses through the stages of grief. Each movement also has its own melodic material.
This movement is bargaining. It uses a new melodic idea that is sort of trying to bargain with the loss motive. It goes back and forth between the two ideas, sort of trying to cope.
