The Tasmania Devils AFL/AFLW club launched its name, logo and colours at simultaneous events around the state on Monday, with insiders saying they were happily surprised at the level of public interest.
The team's boss said the problem of the name Tasmanian Devil being owned by US entertainment giant Warner Bros had been resolved after negotiations, with no money changing hands.
The public is being offered "foundation memberships", which at this stage involves stickers and other items, with the club saying the number of sign-ups shows the Devils team has captured the public's imagination.
