Normally just lurk, but higher rent is also a function of more demand for one place. California's population is still about 1/3 higher than Texas. If more people want to move to texas than prices will go up accordingly (just like about every real estate market during the pandemic did). It's partly why "just move out of the city" isn't a solution to high cost of living situations.
My city's prices have skyrocketed as we've gotten more and more Californian liscense plates and short lived businesses with California in the name. Move out doesn't seem to fix it. The prices come with.
This gotta be the least educated economic take I've seen. A 1/3 population difference wouldn't raise the cost of a house by 600k dollars. Obviously supply and demand exist, but it would not triple the housing market.
Also California’s Central Valley which is a valley with the coastal mountain range to the west and Sierra Nevada mountain range to the east inclosing it. Is the worlds 3rd or 5th largest producer of fruits and vegetables in the world and alone supplies America with more then half of the US’s fruit and vegetables.
I live there! Besides the constant 110 degree weather and droughts, like when its rainy for a good while, it is an amazing place. Not to mention very fresh produce, a great and large farmers market in my city, and the mountains that for half the year when the air quality is good are visible and beautiful from most the town. The Yosemite national park is also a favorite. Also, tons of cool little towns. In Columbia, a town in California mountains, they have a whole wild west theme with cars banned for half the town and horses common.

but i think texas is better to live in. it’s cheaper and affordabler, and 300 grand gets you what’s basically 1 million in cali. i’d say cali is better in economy but texas is better in life quality.

It depends on the person. If you are left politically and want better weather, go to CA. If you are right politically and want to save more money, go to TX.
