Hollister Hills destroyed by storm, last ride before closure

  • We went to Hollister Hills 3 days before the closure, with no reopening date set. We saw more water dirt biking there than we ever had, and my dad has ridden there since the early 80s. The "ponds" were already at max capacity, but the drainage for them is usually a small pipe or culvert. The amount of water that came with the storm simply overwhelmed the creeks. This comes after months of other intense storms. Damage included flooding, complete trail erosion in some sections, small landslides throughout, and taken out bridges. Glad we got to have fun on this day, because I will have to go riding other places for the foreseeable future.

Been about 9 years since we had the quads out there. That place can get dusty in the summer. I use to ride Clear creek a lot, lived in Coalinga so not a far drive.

Thank you for sharing! Your skills are great. May i kindly suggest something? You need to work on clutch control. Going up Granite. You hit a rock, lost momentum. Rather than stalling, with clutch control you be able get balance and line back, slip clutch get moving again. The fast, top skilled riders ride with a finger on the clutch all the time.
