I'm glad it has now been recognised in the cycling world of RUclips that Dorset may not have the highest or longest of peaks, but we really can't build a flat road to save our lives. Hope you enjoyed your visit 👍
Loved the video and showed some of my local roads in their best light. Where was your coffee stop? I'm always on the lookout for new places and couldn't recognise that one. Thanks
Ahh thank you so much for watching, you’ve a beautiful local area. Love it! I’ll have to dig the name out of it from the route - bear with me! Will be back to share…!
Ha ha came across your video and suddenly saw myself at 5.39 passing you going down the descent, Dorset is a fabulous place to ride and yes it’s very very hilly 😺
@@Pelohun Yes, I was going the more fun way down the road. You didn’t fancy the 30% gradient climb out of Batcombe, maybe on your next holiday down here 😆
Those narrow country lanes, with sometimes grass in the middle, are what we have a couple of miles from ours. And we love them. And yes, the locals drive them half expecting something coming in the opposite direction. So all is good.👍
I agree! Everyone - well, almost - expects to turn a corner and find another car "speeding" towards you at 20 mph - it can be tough enough to stop in time even at those speeds! Plus horses, sheep in the road, herds of deer nibbling roadside grass...
@@Pelohun 👍 would be great to have you both back, and perhaps together take in a few of the fav Dorset ‘local’ roadie routes; you chose well in the Bridport, Beaminster, Chard, Cerne valley area, but there are so many more, you'll have to comeback again. Hit me up next time, we have a little airbnb a few miles from Lulworth Cove, well located for some epic rides. 🤜🤛
The Cerne Abbas Giant (associated with a fertility god) is Britain’s largest, and possibly most recognisable, chalk hill figure. Standing at 180ft (55 metres) the Giant is an imposing figure in the surrounding landscape. Has been in the National Trust’s care since 1920. The ultimate age of the Giant has eluded archaeologists but thought to be constructed from the late Saxon period (mid-9th Century).
Glorious countryside and houses! Showing my age here ... but a famous British actress, very beautiful of course, was interviewed by Michael Parkinson on BBC 1 and she confirmed the rumour that her parents (gentry of some sort - Duke & Duchess, or Lord & Lady... ) had had trouble conceiving so, in a last ditch effort, they visited the Cerne Abbot Giant on midsummer's night and ... ummm ... lay along his todger which resulted in her appearance. I am SO frustrated I can't remember the names of any of the people involved (Michael Parkinson doesn't count!) You can see the carving from the main road (I suspect you found out for yourselves) quite some distance away. (It's very amusing that, at the start when you weren't sure which county you were in, there was a big clock showing "Dorset time")
Hahah the word todger just cracked me up. Such a beautiful part of the UK and so interesting about the actress - the giant was brilliant. Think I was shocked to see the giant Rodger drawn on national trust info like that - bold as brass 😂

@@mountaincat123 I’ve done that!! Ooft did not love it 😂 avoided it this time.
@@Pelohun Chapeau, that’s a tough one, I’m mainly off-road which are just as steep but at least you get some amazing views and quiet trails.
Lovely episode, very picturesque!

It’s brilliant! Needs a rechalk I think as he wasn’t that visible bless him. But so good to see!
My local roads😊
Legend has it that local maidens would slide down the giant ….for fertility
Gorgeous roads! Haha loved the giant!
Absolutely love Dorset, did you get to Portland on your trip?
It’s so beautiful! We didn’t actually. Is that worth a visit?
@@Pelohun yeh, definitely, it's a fab ride along Chesil beach, then a climb up to the island and down to the lighthouse x

Cheers, my uk north west accent often benefits from pronunciation help.
You do have a giant lion chalk figure not far from you at the zoo....
We doooo but no naked fella 😂
The cerne Abbas giant
Used for fertility
If couples have struggled to get pregnant they would sit on it and fall pregnant very soon after
Yesss! We learnt that 🙌🏼
