EXCELLENT TOP PHOTO, S !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
When I was a kid and the travelling fair came around, I would spend more time walking around the rear of the rides just to look at the vehicles. Many years later I would stop at "The Teapot Cafe" on the A30 at Egham, a funfair`s winter quarters was at the back, I would spend time chatting to the old lads repairing the vehicles and equipment. Proper engineers!.
As an ex gaff lad for Rose's Fun Fair of London in the 1980's and 1990's i can relate to alot of these old lorries. Enjoyed the video 👍
We all love the fair coming to town and seeing the lovely lorrys ,my favourite was the ex military matadors and s20/s21 Fodens all painted up fantastic and a real credit to the owners and the smells of hot diesel candyfloss and hotdogs lovely
I have been taking photos of fairground trucks since 1983 and have thousands of them, these were the proper fair lorries, British trucks, now all you see is Volvos!
Great set of old wagons .Just imagine the graft these lorries have done prior to going into Fair ground service? I would say 80% of these are now gone forever so thanks for keeping the flame lit 👍🎥🥇👌
Glad you injoyed watching my friend 👌 😉
Love old school Wagons todays stuff are usually square and painted white 😬
So true my friend 👌 😉
Remember seeing some of them coming to Hull in the 70s and 80s and talking of Hull fair iits on now larger than ever and packed crowds on the 2nd night. On your photos there's a ex artic scammell crusader which pulls a gallopers which still does it now at steam fairs. Thanks for the memories and some I haven't seen before my friend
More to come paul glad you injoyed watching my friend
If it wasn't for the show men a lot of vunrable trucks wouldn't be a round ERF fodens Volvo etc some classic trucks
Where I live in Chipping Sodbury, there used to be a travelling fair yard just down the road from where I live... They were called Rogers (or Rodgers) and they had some absolutely beautiful trucks... Bullnose scammels, AECs, Fodens etc.... I'm talking about the late sixties and seventies... The artwork on the cabs were all handpainted with some wonderful designs.... I can still picture a particular lorry, I'm sure it was an AEC, but what the model was I'm afraid I don't know. But it was an absolute beast of a thing which I'm sure was previously owned by the army...... Thank you so much for posting such an excellent assortment of vehicles..... With the most kindest regards....
Your welcome my friend 👌 😉
@@truckinghistorymydiecastco5274 I think I know what the truck was.... An AEC Matador as I've just been looking at some photos on Google.... On the front was bloomin big leaf springs with chains.... It was the power generator for the dodgems..... Top speed was probably about 28mph..... Love to know how the heck it got to Minchinhampton Common, where the fair used to be on a Summer Bank Holiday..... Minchinhampton Common is at the top of a steep hill, next to Roborough Common near Stroud...
Proper lorries
