Thanks for talking about showing in galleries, it was very helpful! Do you have any art contests that you'd recommend? Contests that happen yearly for example.
the one I mention in the video is the "Beautiful Bizarre" one, they have one every day per type of art. It's quite selective, I didn't win it, only was a finalist, but that was enough exposure already. However that might not suit everyone's style.
Do your work! As an artist, YOU must do the work to find your best fit! Expand your world by thinking for yourself, outside the box! If you have been given a gift, you have to be the one to find it- that’s what Stephanie was saying!
Oil studies are super inspiring! 😉 I love your channel by the way… you are a wonderful artist and extremely inspiring! I also love that you care so much for our dear mother Earth! May I ask what you do with YOUR acrylic paint water? I actually recently learned you should NEVER dump your acrylic paint water (or any for that matter) down the drain… it is so bad for the pipes and our waterways so I’ve been trying to figure out the best way to get rid of it. As of now I’ve been pouring it into a bucket with cat litter but that is not working as there is too much and I would go through cat litter way too fast so I’m going to try the next method but I have to do some research and how to do it properly. Anyways my apologies that wasn’t supposed to be so long but I wondered if you had a method to dispose of your paint water since you too care about our earth. 😊
oh yeah, acrylics... ^^' well I have been working to get away from acrylics as a medium, at least partially. I don't think acrylics are very eco friendly to be honest. One of the reason I am trying to implement more and more watercolors on paper in my sculptural work and also the reason I am getting into oils. As for dirty paint water, it's not great to dump it into your drains, of course, but remember the drains normally go to a water treatment facility. One thing you can stop using are cadmiums and cobalts, those pigments are the most dangerous. You can also brush off most of your paint onto a towel (fabric or paper) before rinsing your brush, so less paint goes into the water. That being said you usually don't throw away a whole tube worth of paint but only a few residues, so you have to relativize a bit about your own impact. Repainting your walls and cleaning those tools is much more problematic than what you create during a painting session. That being said, you can't do it all. I learned that the hard way. You are a human living in 21st century, your whole existence is probably not eco friendly, so the key is rather to try your best and maybe focus on certain aspects that are easier than others. It's much more efficient to reduce your meat consumption or buy less stuff in general for than to stop using acrylics. Unless you do acrylic pouring, as there's so much paint used in that with disputable results. Another option would be to stop using paint altogether and just go for dry materials. But that might make you miserable as a human being and trying to care about Earth doesn't equate to stop caring about yourself. Sorry I don't have a great solution for this :/
I can't decide that for you. You have to learn to take an objective look at your work and ask yourself if it needs improvement or not (usually it always does) and if it's as good as others who do compete. Smaller competitions can be good for beginners. 15 months is actually quite a lot if you've been doing art full time. If it's just in the evening or on the week-ends, then your work is likely not ready. Some competitions are free so maybe try with those. It's a good exercice to prepare art statement, bio and pick your best work in any case. Also you need competitions at the beginning of your journey, later on not so much.

I quite enjoyed this vlog, it gives good insight how art world works. Will you share class about caterpillars on Skillshare too? 🤗
Yes, once the ceramic congress is over I can do with the class whatever I want, so will put it on Skillshare. Won't be before June however.

Did you mean enter competitions at the beginning of your art journey? I'm very much a beginner (15 months) and no way I'm ready to compete.
I can't decide that for you. You have to learn to take an objective look at your work and ask yourself if it needs improvement or not (usually it always does) and if it's as good as others who do compete. Smaller competitions can be good for beginners.
