The Soviet Union were one of the best international teams of the 1980s, runners up at Euro 88, unlucky to lose against Belgium in 1986 QF...their group match here against Brazil was one of the very best group WC matches i have watched...agree with what you said about Scotland..but losing against Costa Rica in 1990 was bloody hilarious..

Willie Miller should hv let Alan Hansen handle the situation...rather than barging like that...many people blamed Hansen, which was perplexing. Its totally Miller fault...
nah. the opposite - Hansen was running back towards the Scotland goal; it was much easier for Miller to win the ball and batter it out than for Hansen to do something with it.
@@killingjon Agreed. What on earth was Hansen thinking of ? Was it a rush of blood to the head ? As you say, Miller had the situation perfectly under control. For a player of Hansen's quality, this was an incredible error and was probably the reason why Ferguson did not select him for Mexico 86, even though he was a superb reader of the game. I believe that these videos concentrate what is worst in youtube football: change of camera angle in the middle of the actions, actions themselves very short which follow one another at full speed, and this horrifying mania of putting the slow motion after the goal and then the celebrations of the players. it's not a "nervous" edit, it's a bad edit.

The strongest team in Scotland by name. Almost all the players are from strong clubs - Liverpool, Ipswich, Spurs, Forest, Aston Villa, Aberdeen. In the first half of the 80s, they all won European cups and Scottish players were at the forefront of them. The Soviets were not able to do much in attack, but they were lucky to realize the moments.
