thanks for the this great tips.. i was on on way to throw my home theater after the dvd player is damaged and it won't fixed... i have 5 speakers and 1 subwoofer i will see which better cheap amplifier that will work with it

??? Are the hdmi ports on my new tv for output or input?? In need HDMI out from tv to old receiver with a hdmi IN port..but i think tvs hdmi are only for input ??
if it's a "new" TV made within last 7 years. one of the HDMI ports will be labelled ARC; you can use that to pass audio from TV to receiver. Check audio settings in TV menu if it doesn't play straightaway.
@Tony A god... the 80s equipment was so much simpler and cheaper, wish we could go back, hate all this new crap , just give me simple old red white n yellow plugs that never fail
