This, combined with Abby's comment that she didn't want any "little tootsies" (extremely racist) on her team, and also Abby's disgusting and ignorant approach to Nia's braids, suggests that there was definitely a racial bias on the show. When Asia was on the show, she had Nia and Asia do duets to push Nia to be "sassy" when she wanted clean, lyrical style dancing from the rest of the team. Abby typecast every dancer of colour on the show (except for Paris because she was in like 2 episodes.) Think about how Jade's ALDC solo was an "oriental" piece where she wore a dance costume based on traditional Chinese garb. Jade is Vietnamese-American. The cultures are very different. That's not to point out all of the uses of slurs on the show like "esk*mo" and "g*psy." And all of the blatant cultural appropriation (like the multiple "Bollywood" dances and the "tribal" dance where Nia was type cast into yet another "ethnic" role as the chief, and put in an Indigenous American head dress
