Great to see you back. That horn will earth through the body so test it by clamping a big jump lead from -ve on battery to the horn clamp and touch the spade connector to the +ve of your battery. I have swapped the stalks on a viva in the past (long long time ago) but I cannot remember it coming apart in bits like that! I think there was a connector under there that you could hook a hazard switch too. Did that back in the day when every scrapyard had a handful of Vivas in with parts to upgrade my old base model. That purple wire may have gone there.
Hi Steve - Good to see you again. I went to my first meeting of the East Antrim Old Vehicles Club last week. You came up in conversation and we were wondering where you’d gone. Your popularity grows!
Awesome to see you back mate! And great to see the old girl made the drive to the new house. Funny, I had my Viva steering wheel off this year too and ended up taking the whole dash off to fit a new heater matrix radiator. Bit of a job but needed doing as the old one was leaking slightly causing the windscreen to always mist up unless the windows were down. Thanks to a post on the old viva owners forum it turns out a heater matrix from a Land Rover Freelander 1 (1997-2000) is an almost perfect fit which can be bought brand new from eBay for £35. It just needed a bit of foam around the edges and the pipes modifying with a bit of flexible hose. So nice to have a working heater again. Love your videos mate!
Glad to see you back! After your first round of videos, I drove a 1972 Vauxhall Viva at "Drive your dad's car" , (time flies, I drove them new!) along with a Rolls Royce, Rover P4, Ford Granada and Morris Marina. Worth a nostalgia visit if anyone's interested. The Viva seemed to drive very much like the Chevette. Strangely enough though, although the Rolls was by far the smoothest, and so it should be, the car I would have taken away for an everyday drive would of been........the Morris Marina. Easy to drive, easy to work on, (the parts just fall off), easy bodywork, gives you access to all areas through a generous use of access holes. What's not to like?
Great to see you back Steve, I was in town this morning and see some Knoppers bars on the shelfs, and i immediately thought of you !!! Sundays are now back to fun days !!!
Yeah, Retro Rebuild is back, my normal Sunday morning viewing has been restored. It's great to see you back again Steve. Glad to hear all's good in your world and that you've still got and are continuing with the yellow Viva rebuild.
OMG, HOW WE HAVE ALL MISSED YOU,you may not realise it but you are an absolute legend and inspiration to me and many others, the voice of, Have a go and see what happens 😅
Good idea 💡 would to apply fine emery paper between contacts to prevent overheating prior to the reassembly of wiper stalk.😮 Seem to remember the purple wire aftermarket got soldered to the down / reverse side as a quickfix ❤😊
The second horn terminal would have been for the optional twin horn. What you have in your hand was the standard fitment "low" note horn. The high note horn was probably optionally fitted to the passenger's side.. Those indicator module "switch" was originally rivetted. The replacement would come back with nut & bolt(s) in the kitset.😮 Thanks for sharing your yellow Viva and your time ❤
Woohoo you’re back…so good to see you are well and the car is still running…really thought something bad had happened… especially when you said something about your health just before you disappeared.. love the new house and garage keep posting
Great to see you back! Looking forward to seeing how things progress. I know what you mean when you talk about losing your mind. Sometimes we need to take stock of everything going on in life. And, congrats on the house move. Best of luck with everything!
Echoing Everyone else....a Big Welcome 🎉 👍😁 back !! Have missed the channel and the constant struggles to fix the Viva. Loving the new location And the new haircut, of course. I'm sure you will make to your own liking in no time.
Good to see you back the car looked like it been sat for 20 years and not a year 🤣😂 sort that clutch out i couldn't live where there is a bissy main road working on a car with everyone driving past so you going to catch up on the work on it now after being bissy with the house move you need a negative wire on that horn as well if the horn bracket might on been the earth on to the body and its got rusty and don't work but good to see your happy and a little 🤪😵💫 but ent we all
Back in Black I hit the sack I've been too long , I'm glad to be back Yes I'm let loose from the noose that kept me hanging around !! Great to see your back!!
PS - Just remembered, the HC production run included the wiper switch being in one of three locations. Early models were the two position rocker switch next to the three position rocker switch for lights. After 1974, only two locations exist. The 9 O'clock position either rivetted or bolted 🔩 to the indicator switch. Or in the case of 🇬🇧 UK console models, next to the handbrake 😮 with optional light switch, depending on which dash binnacle you have. ( rectangular, twin round, or seven round ) in RHD territories. 😮❤
It's good to see you back, i love your style. The horn you have is a Lucas horn similar to what i have on my Norton and you may find that the earth is through contact with the body..
Welcome back Steve, thought I’d never see the old viva on here again.. glad you’re still tinkering with it , it’s a true survivor.! What I found strange though was there was not one single reference to a Knopper bar 😂 looking forward to the next un mate , (John with the snot green viva) 😊
Welcome back 🎉... nice driveway & new house 👍... If I were you, Id knock through the wall into the front room: double garage space (who needs a living room anyway? 😂)👍
Great to have you back, I look forward to more videos. You are one of the reasons I bought a classic car last year. I stopped working on cars about 10 years ago and looking at your videos gave me a hankering to get back on the spanners !
From woodgate lane to Mill Lane. Big move lol. I thought I recognised the car as I passed the other day. Good to see your back to your channel. But drafty up top but without I recon.
Twin horn fitment was probably your Magnum / Firenza 2300 Sport SL or export Chevrolet Firenza Can-Am, neither of the above made landfall as we say to my native New Zealand 🇳🇿 🙄 ❤
wasn't a subscriber before, but think seen some of your other vids in the past. Definitely a subscriber now, and looking forward to more videos. Personally how you looked at start of video with hair, but that's just my opinion.

So happy - something to look forward to on a Sunday - an Ex Viva owner.
Welcome back Steve. The horn might be a loop connection for twin horns with the earth through the horn itself and the bracket back to the body.
Glad you’re back👍👍👍
