  • "M6 version of Cyber Knife is one of the first in Kerala and India. With cyber knife, we can treat various conditions which were treated as outpatient process, and needs only very short time and with precision. Mostly, brain tumours, liver tumours, lung tumours and etc are treated with cyber knife. Dr Debnarayan Dutta, Senior Consultant and Head, Department of Radiation Oncology, Amrita Hospitals, Kochi is talking about Cyber knife and Tomo therapy radiation techniques.
Cyber knife has two components, one is linear accelerator from where the radiation goes and the other is robot, which actually push the machine in proper place, so that the radiation goes in proper place and direction. These radio therapy can complete the treatment comparatively in short period of time. It is a completely painless treatment and quality of treatment is extremely accurate. The movement of patient during the treatment can be tracked while using this technique. While doing treatment in brain, we can more precisely do it without damaging the normal cells around."

Usually we don’t treat Glioblastoma with Cyberknife. But in recurrent setting, meaning tumour coming back after radiation therapy Cyberknife is an option in fit patients
