  • Michael Lewis, author of the new book "Boomerang," says the United States and many European nations suffered a moral failure that led to economic collapse. Lewis insists that the U.S. economic situation will get much worse before it gets better.

I'm also from Europe and I remember being so shocked when I visited NY/Philly/AC... I feel bad for you guys ...the health care/ the way the waiters depend on tips/ the fear of a mass shooting/ how neglected every thing looks/ the dependency you have on cars... When I flew home I could have kissed my airports squeeky clean/ harmoniously run floor ...it was at that moment I realized how good we have it in the EU.

America can get back on track asa powerful country if they do the following 1) Cut unnecessary expenses like spending money on wars, policing world . 2) Create Tax benefits to Corporations that outsource jobs to india and china so that they can create jobs in USA. 3) Create saving awareness among public instead of using credit cards ,loans to buy home, car etc 4) It takes another 10 years to get back on track and reduce 14 trillion dollars debt .

Dollar would lose all its worth immediately if they stop spending money on wars. Do you really think América is great (or was) because its people are hard workers or more intelligent than people of other nations? If we compare nations to people, america is the gangster, the one that steals, kills and intimidate others to keep its supremacy.

I don't think the US is a third world county in the typical sense, but it looks like a first world country that adopted a lot of third world aspects. Unless you are very rich, you better avoid living there, and that's my (European) opinion.

What he says everybody knows (at least who monitors current events thoughtfully). We are way beyond these bland apocalyptic forecasts. What we need now and would worth its weight (or whatever) in gold is CONCRETE TIME-FRAME for the things to unfold, plus/minus a year. Thats where the game is now.

The U.S. might not fall into becoming a third-world country, but the U.S. will look like a third-world country in comparison to other countries as other nations continue to grow. It’s just a matter of the U.S. keeping up.
Now in 2023, the federal and state governments are providing poor services to people. Reminiscent to a third-world country. Not everyone in the country has access to public transportation. Only those who are fortunate enough be living in a few select cities. Quality of healthcare services vary depending on what state you’re living in. Public education is a mixed bag, if you can’t afford to live in a good neighborhood with a good school, you’re stuck with a poor performing school. Finding affordable housing is near impossible. Living in a city provides greater job opportunities, but also expensive to live in. Live in the middle of nowhere, and you might be able to afford a place.

Of course the U.S is becoming a Third World Nation. I live in one of the richest states in the U.S.A, and if I go to one of the cities, any city in this state, I will so much poverty. In fact, even lot of the sub-urban areas are so poor. And the reason we are becoming a Third World nation is because we are getting mass amount people from Third World Latin America.
