Soo glad you shared this on Eventing Nation or I would have never seen it. I was browsing around, jonesing for tomorrow! Best eventing video I've ever seen!
why people need to criticize? You did a fabulous job making this video. It is hard to put together a good cross country video that is not the same thing over and over. I commend you on a fabulous video that I am sure has and will be enjoyed by many.
Lumix GH1 for HD video here. Any recent video editor will do for this stuff, but for super slo-mo you need Adobe After Affects or Twixtor or a nice high speed vid cam like the Phantom.
I one day aim to get this high in skill... just watching these professionals makes my jaw drop! I am just learning to canter, how would I go about helping my horse learning to jump?
But don't forget, it's you behind the camera that makes the video. The camera is a tool and use any tool well, even with its limitations and you can do great work. You're vids are fun to watch.
lol today I was trying to walk my horse over a small trench to drain water from the arena and she started flipping out. I was like "Yup she's cross country all the way" XD
Mary King's form seemed a bit off on her jumps... I don't ride English, though. It doesn't seem practical to pull the reins all the way to your hips on a jump. I thought you were suppose to give them their head for a brief bit??
I think she was a bit off balance on her part and panicked. Her equitation in this part was off as well, her hips should always be in align with her ankle, even when "driving" or pushing her horse to go faster. When she initially landed on the jump she came off balance when she couldn't catch/hang on to the horse with her knees. I'm no means a professional but that's just what I observed from this.
starfire2727- Thank you for that in depth analysis. You said you are not a professional, but that was very detailed and it helped me understand. Thank you :D
thought i would add on (I ride eventing) a lot of the times especially jumping into the water you have to slip your reins to allow the horse to stretch its neck then you might not always have time to shorten them before the jump and you need some contact so the horse knows what to do/where to go (so they don't run out) also yes she did get unbalanced, cross country isn't about being pretty it's about getting around safely :)
Put your video as my Wednesday music video on my blog today. Have included a list of all the riders / horses with some links out to info about them, such as their websites if could find. Thanks for a great video. I've watched it several times in entirety. lifeloveandhorses dot com

Gorgeous. The slowmo- It's sheer lunacy!

Cracking good rider! One of my favorite shots.
Thanks. Lumix GH1, often held over my head in crowds - so not always smooth.
Thanks again for a great video!
Nice video! Love the editing!
If I could like this again, I would. The U.S. Olympic equestrian team rocks.
You can tell Canadian horses are fearless :3

This videos are amazing! :O May I use the clips? I'll give you full credit! ;)
I am not a fan of English riding but jumping horses are just something amazing
The GH2 is much better, especially with the hacked firmware. I used the 14-140 mm that came with my camera for most of these - fast autofocus.
lol my horse would freak by just STANDING next to them
There was a grand total of one horse in this that was not bay, chestnut or black. xD
Wow
What app?😍
Sorry, though I hardly ride, but I think Rolex's crossing country is very difficult.
i love horse riding some day i want to do crosscountry im doing hunters
haha great video i was so into it i was all like "gah you can do it!" hehe go USA
my horse can't jump :(
I love Sam
Nope you're right !! From what I have seen of her she tends to get left behind a lot too.
the guy from europe on that black horse was scary to watch
screw the winter Olympics im watching summer
Sweden! :D

Why do you have to play such awful music?!
