Wow...That frontbumper matched the body so good!!! With a gravelpan in the rear..yepp...Go for it!
When you got it out in the sun I finally saw the Ford logo on the rear bumper. Cool.
love seeing you having the young generation helping /learning in the shop
Wow the bumpers make a huge difference in cleaning up the look of the car. Add to or modify the pan in the rear and you are there. Adding contour to the skirts would also complete the look. This car is starting to look like a Barris' custom from back in the day. You're nailing the look of the car. I'd be proud to drive this one around this summer as it now has a very cool look.
The gravel pan is a great idea Matt. They definitely improved the look, as in a direction you're heading in. Thanks for sharing!
Good choice! I like the Ford script and the over-all look of moving them closer. Definitely sets it off .
Love seeing this one evolve. Your design choices are always perfectly balanced and understated, which is just so hard to do
Didn't mind the original bumpers till you put on the new ones. Looks sharp.
New bumpers look a lot better nice look
Looks great - so neat & tidy. Makes the rest look more shabby!
I'm amazed at how the additional sculpting on the '41 bumpers just make the front and rear jump now! This is turning into a a real classy cruiser for those Sunday drives! The '38 just might be a real keeper. You need a car for double dates!
That car is gonna be so nice! Great job guys!! Looking forward to seeing Mike's car on the road!!!!!
That 38 Ford convertible is a beautiful car, the more work you do to it the more beautiful it is. I enjoy your videos very much. I always say, you guys are living my dream! Thanks guys!
Thanks we’re living ours also!
Bumpers look great. No doubt you'll be on the lookout for a set of ribbed Desoto bumpers.
Getting Steve in the shop was one of the best things you ever did. He's a do'er
Enjoy watching Steve work in your shop. Us old fellows have to stick together. 84 and enjoy
all your vids. Keep on keeping on. 😊😊
Very nice bummer choice and sitting right
Steve will get down and dirty if need be to get any task done...way to go Steve.
I agree 100% .
Try to find a millennial to do what Steve does at his age. Not
Adding a dancing with Steve segment would be the best thing you ever did. He's got the moves.
Dancing with Steve and Moon
Love it. One of my favorite builds
Amazing, I did exactly this in my shop yesterday on my '35 Studebaker.
Absolutely love this car. Fun to watch the progression of the custom touches. Well wishes you Matt, Kate, Mike, Steve, Moon and the kitties.
Thanks Dale!
Definitely has that classic 40s custom look! I'm not a 38 deluxe fan but you've definitly made the right improvements!
Looks much better
The improved front bumper is a very good look! Kind of liked the old style of the rear, however, because those extra big "KNOBS" added some more details to the rear view. Never too late, can add 'bumper knobs' to blend with the tail-light shape.
bumper to body style its a hit and when you add the gravel shield to the rear boss simply "BOSS"
Real chrome on one of your builds. Nice. Very nice.
Ragtop looks perfect. Steve has the best job ever.
He really does!
Custom made Skirts on the front fenders would look kool. Coming along awesomely
This car turns out great! Love the custom look. Nice with something different from all the hotrods.
It's great to see the younger generation having an interest in the hot rod hobby. The bumpers look good on the car but you definitely need the gravel shield on the rear there is too much space there.
Any thoughts for a continental kit ?🤠
Getting to watch Matt & Steve at ITG and Ivan & John at Shed Racing this morning was a double dose of GOOD STUFF! Absolute masters at modifying, adapting, wrangling, twisting, and as Steve mentioned, a lot of heating and bending. Bumpers look great, guys. Speaking of OCD, that loose vise is driving me nuts! How often does it have to be removed that it is left to flop around like that? Please bolt it or clamp it to the table so I can sleep at night!
YOUTH in the shop GOOD to see GREATVIDEO
Yep!
The car's looking -- and sounding -- totally wicked. Those bumpers are perfect. I'm thinking that hood ornament might be better gone. Give it that nice clean nosed look.
That is probably my favorite car you have put together since I've been watching.
Thank you!
Thank you Matt and Steve for the update on the '38 Custom ! It's looking awesome !
Gonna need a before and after on this one when done. Such progress. Looking at Steve, I think we're going to know it's spring when that wild hair and beard get mowed a bit 😜
Great job, great look guys.
Awesome video buddy
Now that really is an awesome mod! I am really warming to this car more and more as you keep making neat little changes that are really giving this car character. Keep up the cool wrenchin!
Those bumpers are the beez neez. 👍👌
Looking more and more a custom..very cool
LOOKS REALLY GOOD, GUYS.
Of all of your cars this one has become my favorite , it's just a cool old ride.
Matt, good choice and it looks great. The fender skirts Not so much, What you did for the hood latch, the Caddy install, and the exhaust, extremely impressive. I just can't get my head around those extra large skirts.
Funny how such a minor change really enhances the look of the car. It would be a major undertaking, but that car deserves nice paint and bodywork.
always liked the 38/39 better than 40's, the bumpers make a big difference for sure!
Bumpers look great and it sounds awesome!!!!!!!!
Nice job / Looks and sounds great
Significant improvement.
Well done 🍺
bumper swap changed the look completely.
Looks awesome 👍
Like the bumpers. I think add lake pipe would give it a better look.
Watching since your Eastwood frame jig video, think this is my favourite of all the cars you've done. Beautiful. Cheers :)
Bumpers look great.
Bumpers look great
looking good!
As Custom Driver, the 38 upgrade suggestion.... Floor shift converted early Lincoln Overdrive Trans or a Columbia 2 speed or both... that baby would be a road cruiser!!!
This car is going through some amazing transformations, just keeps getting better and better! Tucked bumpers work perfectly! Carson top in the plan? Go Iron Trap, keep moving forward!
That’s the plan!
The crooked rear bumper may have set off Matt's OCD, for the rest of us it was watching that unsecured vice move every time it was tightened, or the clamped bracket bent. End result for the bumpers are pretty cool. I like the small Ford logos in the centres. This car is starting to look alright.
Guys loving what you do on all the builds love the channel always look foward to what your doing to them must be great to know that when you get up in the morning you get to do this keep the vidoes coming aussie fan👍👍
A bumper that follows the horizontal lines of the rear would look beautiful.
I love towards the end when you took it outside for the outro, " ... With a cloud of smoke and a hearty 'Hi-yo Fordson!' it's ... the Crapster!'
Very nice look with the bumpers. You might wind up keeping this one.
Very nice 😊
Hey Matt,
It looks like a real East coast taildragger.
Hope that is what you are aiming for.
Bumpers look great, can't wait to see it with the gravel pan complete.
That car is so freaking cool I just love it the size of those fenders it just looks so freaking awesome
Thanks Gary!
Yes sir, definitely shows a custom touch. A work in progress and it shows that people can work within their skill sets and equipment and have a car that they can enjoy and drive. We have a tendency to blow these cars apart and then we get attention deficit disorder and wind up with a disassembled vehicle that just takes up a bunch of space. I think that your approach to this project shows that these vehicles are indeed a work in progress.🥸👍👍👍👍👍
I think the bumpers look great They look much better on that car
Also in my era late 50's early 60's a 49 Plymouth bumper(s) where popular ,like the bumpers you put on but it had a center rib across
A pan for the rear will finish that off real nice. I totally agree with putting the original front bumper back on. WTG!
I didn't think the 38 was worth anything especially with the 39 deluxe you also purchased. You guys are making that 38 something really special! Good lesson!
Wow! Beautiful car!!!
Oh i dig it..lumpy had a 40 allways loved that car..on leave it to beaver..
Bumper upgrade looks good. Those style lines in the bumper really make a difference.
Looks night & day difference!
Huge improvement, love it.
AMAZING ❤
Love the look of the car, the bumpers were a great improvement. I would be looking forward to a nice paint job, I know you fellas like the rough look but this car deserves pretty!
Rich
Looks like spring already. Not yet here in Finland. Cheers.
I almost see a tire mounted on the trunk all custom. Great job as usual guys❤❤❤❤❤❤
Wow ! That does the trick . Less is sometimes more , as they say . The arc really fits the car too . I love the throaty sound of that Caddy engine in this one . The first drive is going to be nice , & I bet you will get more than the usual looks with it . Looking better all the time .
The 38 vert is gonna be badass, Matt!
Those bumpers make a huge difference for sure!
Those bumpers really tie this car together. Great all. Like you say, the skirts need a bit of a
bubble put on to go with the fender contour..great call, you have that great eye for detail. 😊
LOVE the 38 and as I'm headed to my 84th birthday you're right on for what the car would have looked like back in the day. Please fix the holes in the trunk lid. Great job fellas.
Thanks Gary. We plan to fill the trunk lid and add a popper
This car just keeps getting better with every modification you guys do to it.
Thanks!
looks nice
'Too low?' Never heard of such a thing.
Hey Daddy-O how about a quick little Rustoleum 2x1 Metallic Blue / red primer faux matching patina on those Skirts ? Love the Ayala Bros-era bumpers....Looks Cool
A continental kit would be awesome and you probably wouldn't need the gravel shield.
Sweet
I hope you finish this car- love to see good paint job and interior
Dude!! Great video!!! Heat and fire!!! Make junk into Hot Rods!!! Every time you do a mod that thing looks more bitching!!!✌️
Thats one ford i wouldnt mind owning great work. .......George the old 😊chevyoligist
good job man 👍💪
NICE
👌👍👍 look great.
That car would look so good in the color Huntington blue buy Chip Foose you could maybe put a little bit of darkening in that paint gorgeous color for that car I love what you guys are doing it's looking really good man
Thanks for watching!
Dont go too crazy with the mods, the car looks good as it is right now, even
Should give that a bath and some shine juice
they look much better
Nice bumper, but is too close in the back corners. With that big gap in the middle, at least on the video, looks no harmonic for me. But this is the cool thing about the customs, you’ll never found one like the other. Good job.
The skirts need work, and either lower the front or raise the real, possibly both. Would love to see this car repainted, perhaps blue with red flames to reflect her current condition.
