  • In this Rigs, Jigs & Lures episode, I go over step-by-step how to rig trolling lures, more specifically the Billy Bait Mini Turbo Slammer. A very commonly used and considered to be one of the best fishing lure makers throughout the world. I also show you how to take it up a notch, by adding a trailing lure, thus giving it a larger profile to entice the impulse to feed. Used for deep sea fishing, charter fishing and offshore fishing, this lure can't be beat. If you are into offshore saltwater trolling, this episode will provide some insight on how to properly rig a lure to increase your hook-up ratio and give you some ideas on how to expand your tackle selection from what you take straight out of the box... So here's some advice and tips on how to rig up and put them to use.
    Enjoy,
    Tight lines & good vibes.

Great video! Thanks for the instructions aspect of all your videos! Is there any reason you attach the hooks in the same direction instead of one hook facing each direction? Thanks in advance and keep up the great videos!

Thanks for watching and asking a great question. Honestly, it's personal preference. I've lost too many fish and had far too many false positive strikes with the hooks being set in tandem 180° out of phase, that's why I prefer them both facing the same way. However, some people won't have it any other way... So it's kind of a pick your own poison situation. Hope this helps. Tight lines & take care :)

    Hey Heath
I see when you tie your hooks on to your leader your hooks always face you when you thred your leader line threw the eye of the hook then tie the basic clinch knot. Does it make a difference if you tie it facing away from you? I tie both ways and to me I don't see a difference. Just wondering if that's just the way your use to or is there a purpose.
Lol just before I watched this video I watch one from about 3 yrs ago that you did from a different area of the garage. You made a big difference now from then. Like your videos a lot. Keep up the good work.
    Tight lines.....

Thanks a million for watching and asking a great question. It makes no difference. It's just how ever you are more comfortable doing it. Yes, I've been doing this quite a while, had some major life changes along the way... Had to actually take a year off from the channel because of financial burdens... But when I decided to return to filming, I wanted to have a fresh and unique approach
.. wanted to to be more like a TV show than a RUclips video. So, thanks for noticing, I really appreciate it. Thanks again for your support and taking out time to watch and chat with me. Tight lines & take care ;)

Thanks a million for watching and asking some great questions. Personally I go without bait almost all of the time. I add fresh bait only when the fish aren't biting and I've run out of ideas. Hope this helps. Thanks again for the support. Tight lines & take care ;)

Thanks for watching. It's a great pleasure to hear from you... and a great question. Leader should always be clear. If you are referencing the bright neon green line, that's called high visibility line used for trolling or kite fishing so you can track where you line is in the distance. FYI the best leader is fluorocarbon. Hope this helps. Tight lines & take care :)

Thanks a million for watching and asking a great question.
      Mustad 5/0 O'SHAUGHNESSY HOOKS
      Reference number 3407 DT
Be sure to order Duratin, not stainless steel.
      here's the link:
      bit.ly/3yd8yZA
There are other O'Shaughnessy hooks, but yes they have the larger eye. The 3407 DT have the smaller eyes for making tandem setups.
      Hope this helps.

The Billy Bait mini turbo slammer I just received seems smaller than the one in your videos. Are yours the 5/8 oz. 5.5 in.?

Hi. Thanks for watching and asking a great question... I literally just busted out my tape measure... To answer your question... Yes... That's the one. Sometimes video can amplify what seems to be the size of objects you see. Rest assured you got the right one. Good luck & tight lines... You got a beast mode lure :)

Hi heath, how strong is your main line for this rig?

    • @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
      @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing  3 года назад +1

Thanks a million for watching and asking a great question. My main line on my reel is either 20 or 30 pound test mono. Most of the time my leader is either 40 or 60 pound test mono.... It's strong enough to handle big game fish like sailfish and Marlin... Hope this helps. Great to hear from you. Tight lines & take care ;)

Hi Mickey, If it was up to me, everyone would have a boat. I'm sorry your impromptu beach trolling didn't work out, that's why it's called fishing, not catching, I guess. LOL... better luck next time. Hopefully you are able to start getting out to be able to wet a line or two. Thanks for always watching and keeping in contact. Take care :)

Oh man... I love flounder... Stuffed flounder.... Yummy... I have to travel 2 and a half hours north to go for those babies... Glad you were able to get out have some fun and bring home dinner. Take care :)

Hi Heath, We have a lot of bays and grass islands in South Jersey. The flounder love to come into the bay and creeks to feed on minnows. Spring and fall for Striper and Blue Fish and the summer for flounder, are the two big migrations for us. They are the most popular in-shore fish. They can be caught from shore or small boats. Take care, Mickey
