Frankly, as an Israeli, I am beginning to be wary of the US's seemingly wavering support for us. They first say their support for us is "rock-solid", but shortly afterwards start to renege on their claim. Since Oct. 7, there have been _several_ examples of this. Yes, it is good for diplomatic relations that Yoav Gallant affirmed the "solid" US-Israeli alliance, but as it says in the Talmud (regarding business partners) "Respect him and suspect him".
Really ? We’ve given Israel billions !!! When Iran was bombing we were there !!! Never hear a thank you…. Just complaints ….. American people are mad about our Economy and the homeless !!!

Britain in Palestine 1917-1948 investigates the contradictory promises and actions which defined British Mandatory rule in Palestine and laid the groundwork for the Nakba (the catastrophe) and the creation of the state of Israel in 1948. The roots of the contemporary social, political, economic, and environmental landscape of Palestine and Israel can be traced back to this period, making it essential viewing for understanding Britain’s legacy in the region and the situation on the ground today.
It's indeed necessary to know the primary British records - but they do not provide justification of the delusionary narrative of "Nakba (the catastrophe)", which, for those who have studied history records, was to a considerable degree self-made and not inevitable. But what makes that narrative not only delusionary, but toxic is dwelling on a single side of the late 1940s population displacement - leaving out the fact of ethnic cleansing of many hundreds of thousands of Jews from the Arab countries. In late 1940s-early 1950s Israel accepted, sheltered and integrated more Jews from the Arab nations than the number of Palestinian Arabs, who left their homes in 1948. Following WWII there were much more massive population shifts in Europe and in the Far East, with not a single of the shifted claiming refugee status. Within the post-WWII framework (look at least at the Yalta and post-Yalta agreements), the case of 700,000-750,000 Palestinian Arabs vs 800,000-850,000 Middle Eastern Jews should've been closed at the time when Israel accepted the final wave of the Middle Eastern Jewish refugees. As a professional historian, I keep wondering why the question had not been closed at the time, with the Palestinian Arabs resettled and integrated into the Arab welcoming states. I know the answer - but it's beyond scholarship, rationality and fairness.
The Mandate for Palestine was basically granted to the Brits to split a large portion of land into a Jewish state and an Arabic state. The Brits split the area along the river Jordan, and gave the eastern chunk of the land to the Arabs to make a state there. They even anointed a Saudi as king of that state: Jordan.
If the land is to be divided into a Jewish and an Arabic states, and it was divided and an Arabic state was formed, it'd make sense for the remaining portion of the land to be the Jewish state, not to be split further.

Tactics and plans change. Sieges are a well known tactic, to cut the resources of the enemy until it gives up. There was a naive thinking that Hamas cares for the population, or an underestimation of the stockpiling of resources Hamas started the war with. When it was proven ineffective, the tactic changed.

No they didn't "slaughter" anyone. Firstly, that number is _way_ exaggerated. Secondly, Hamas purposely puts its children in harm's way. They put their rocket launchers in schoolyards and playgrounds. They shoot at the IDF from kindergartens. So when the IDF shoots back, of course children get harmed, but that is not Israel's intention.

Gaza is receiving lo-ots of humanitarian aid: ca 4,000 calories per person per day - much above the average need. Gaza's street markets are full of food, likely the result of Hamas stealing of part of the aid and then selling at its profit. Don't spread Hamas's fakes: even the UN had to recognize that there is no hunger in Gaza - by any definition. In fact, gaza gets much more foos than was the case before Oct. 8. Do at least some reading of verifiable sources - or shut up!
