Never mind the "just bodge it with what you have" mentality, I think that's the best way to be cos you tend to learn more that way. If you have the money and just pay someone to do it, you haven't restored the car, the way you have done it you can honestly say you have totally restored the car yourself and its an awesome job. I just hope I do as good a job as you when I find and restore my Spit. Thanks for the inspiration.
Really enjoying your restoration series on the Spitfire, and I decided to jump ahead of where I am in your series (part VI) out of curiosity. Wow! Hopefully one year I'll follow in your footsteps. Keep going, mate. It's a brilliant series.
Do what you can with what you've got is the way I roll too. Thanks for the 90°sewing tip. I need to get back on my diy carpets and I've been wondering how to do that exact piece. You're done, but here's a tip. Hot poker of some sort, soldering iron or whatnot, up through the captive nuts in the floor. Melt through the carpet, properly located holes. Bob's your uncle 😉
I did mine different. I saved and bought a bound edge wool set. Top end. I also bought carpet padding at the big box store and used my carpeting as a pattern and even cut a piece to put be hind the back panel. This helped a lot in quieting the insides.
Hi me again Kev Devon 100% agree with you I restored my spitfire did all the work myself including respray floor panels wings etc mine cost me 800 back in 1998. Some jobs were harder than others but a break and a cuppa makes the difference to solve a problem. Still got car but have put a GT6 engine in it now but not had it running yet so like you more work to do. Steve in Tavistock is good for parts not sure if you know him take care 🇬🇧👍👍
Nice job,if you could get hold of a bond equipe bonnet they are fiberglass and you could put your own front on it.hope you don't mind me saying am a bit concerned about the bolts sticking up from the horn? But I don't know if you wanted the mad max look ?
Thanks. I'll probably change the center steering wheel cap. I put some rivets in so i can pull the thing out without prying it. Does look like a deathtrap though!
@@BritSpit ---- i know jjust messing with you.... chargers are highly prized here too. dodges and chryslers imo had the best muscle car look. from the superbird all the way down to the dart.

Massive improvement and considering you got it done with what you had laying around I'd consider that a massive win. Subscribed

I see it this way - you have improved the carpets and thats what count to me.
Keep the videos comming, and i'll be watching them.

take care 🇬🇧👍👍
Thanks Kev. Luckily I've got all the parts i need for now (minus a hardtop). Knowing when to walk away is key!

@@BritSpit thought about it after the horn in the stalk on the spitfire, unlike the bond my bad
ha ha. If I ever need to sew my hand to my head, I'm hoping you'll have a video for me 👍 Love it.😅
A black Sharpie felt tip marker will get rid of that white stitching.
The bonnet could be epic, have you seen the Vincent hurricane? A kit based on the spitfire 👍
No. But i'll look it up :)
what's a british guy lusting over an american car
I have a soft spot for muscle cars :) We never really had big engine cars in the UK due to the cost of fuel
