    I am impressed. Very few reactors get the message behind the fun lines and back and forth that makes you laugh. The message is still serious - don't let your hormones make your life long decisions. This is one of my favorites songs from him. He has a bunch which I am sure others will recommend.

    • @darkprose
      @darkprose 2 года назад +1

      Oh, God, no. It is not serious. At all. It’s one grand joke! It literally has a punchline! Very disappointed with these takes that overinterpret pop music. I can’t think of a song of his that’s less serious. There’s no message. None. It’s Meat Loaf. None of his music is moralizing. Some of his fans are, apparently, but not this music. And the message you think it has is so banal and prosaic and parental and so _not_ Meat Loaf.

    • @Ylyrra
      @Ylyrra Год назад +2

      @@darkprose It's satire. Jokes can still have serious meaning. And absolutely his music has a ton of moralizing, mostly about not throwing your life away on mistakes, get up and live it. That's 100% a moralistic stance.

    • @Icurious14u
      @Icurious14u Год назад +1

      Got to agree with @gary8739 on this one....Its definitely a message song...sure its fun and satire but satire IS a message...It makes fun of our puberty stage and shows just how both our "Wants" and "Needs" (Guy wants to get off, girl wants a long term relationship) can get us into trouble and become regrettable.
      Done in a fun way for sure but man dude, if you all cant see the message in this one....wow!

    • @LeftysLefty
      @LeftysLefty 9 месяцев назад

      C'mon people - don't overthink it! The very important message is if you're barely 17 then you have to be barely dressed.

    Some of Meatloaf's music had comedic elements and satire embedded in the lyrics. His rock opera style reminds me so much of the glam opera rock of Queen and a few others made popular in the 1970's, though Meatloaf often infused 50/60's old school rock beats.

    Music from my teen youth. Meat Loaf and “Bat out of Hell” were regulars at our parties together with a 12-pack of beers.
    Ahhh, those was the days 🤗 “We’re gonna go all the way tonight, and tonights the night” 🥖💦
    By the way, you pretty one, you really should make a reaction to Gerry Rafferty doing “Baker Street”. One of the best songs to get out of the 70’s. A pure classic.

  • @jj.harvey4067
    @jj.harvey4067 2 года назад

    EJ-J…ANOTHER GREAT REACTION…This Song was the ‘70’s version of “Single Ladies” (Put a Ring On It), but with a Twist…Meat Loaf told the story of the typical ‘70’s PROM NIGHT in the US, after the dance going parking & making out at “Lover’s Lane”, in this song down by the Lake… For the “Bat Out of Hell” tour, Meat Loaf always the showman, performed live while dressed in a Pale Blue, Black or Red Velvet Prom Tuxedo…In the video, he’s already stripped off his jacket & is down to his Frilly White Tuxedo Shirt..

    I read something similar to this on another reaction.... consider the style of the music at the beginning... 50/60's early rock.... it was very taboo for a girl to give up her virginity or have a child out of wedlock. But she is feeling like time is ticking (though it's cold and lonely in the deep dark night). He is likely a virgin too.... and is anxious to move beyond it... The play by play is the euphemism of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd base and ultimately going all the way "home run'. She stopped him, and really forced him to either pledge his love to her, or nothing was going to happen. ...teenage hormones, but she was still concerned about her reputation. He relented and pledged his vow to her... they did the deed and got married to fulfill the vow.... now fast forward... last chorus, the music was a different style, more 70's rock... they are now 15 or so years into a loveless marriage.... praying for the end of time... as the song fades... they are both reminiscing about their youth... for him 'It was long ago, and far away, so much better than it is today' and her 'it never felt so good, never felt so right, glowing like the metal on the edge of a knife'.

    This is the beauty of "Rock Opera." Watching the reaction as the lyrics to this song sink in is one of my minor joys in life. I bought the album this is from when I was 12. I didn't understand it at the time, but as my life progressed and as this song kept making its way to my cassettes and CDs and digital downloads, it became a lot clearer. But that was long ago, and it was far away.

    Fun Fact: Featured on 1977's Bat Out Of Hell, “Paradise by the Dashboard Light” showcased the vocal talents of singer Ellen Foley(she co-starred in the sitcom Night Court for one season). ...Ellen Foley, who sang on the album, declined to go on the tour. Karla DeVito assumed live performance responsibilities, so the music video was created by syncing the video of DeVito's performance to the audio of Foley's vocals.

    I was lucky enough to see him twice in concert. The two shows I saw couldn’t have been any more different and I couldn’t have hoped for more. It was the most perfect dichotomy.
    I grew up on this music, born in 1973, my aunt who is 11 years older than me was my regular babysitter while my mom worked 2-3 jobs. My aunt played Meatloaf, Queen, Joan Jett, Stevie Nicks, and Supertramp for me all of the time, and I never got tired of any of them.
    When Bat Out of Hell II came out, I was thrilled to get the chance to see Meatloaf…I think I was 21. Anything For Love was topping the charts, so this tour was huge. The concert was larger than life, it was like a broadway production with costume changes and every song was acted out, not just sung.
    Around 2003, I got to see him again. Meatloaf was no longer topping the charts, but he really never stopped touring, if you watch interviews with him, he needed to perform as much as he needed air and water. Fun fact: he actually had asthma and had to have an oxygen tank waiting as soon as he exited the stage. Anyways, in 2003, it was obviously a smaller production. I saw him at a local tribal casino, small show, small venue, very intimate and beautiful. It was almost like going to an acoustic show. And the cherry on top…singing the part of Ms. Loud was Meatloaf’s daughter, Pearl! I’m so thrilled that I got to see two versions of his concerts that were so opposite, yet both were so perfect.
    Now, I’m hoping that someday I’ll get to see Bat Out of Hell the Musical. Meatloaf was elated and honored that the art that he created with Jim Steinman was made into a musical.

    My then High School girlfriend and I were in my car listening to this IRL. Everything was the same except we didn't get married so didn't have to deal with that.
    We're still FB Friends.
    He has many movie appearances over the years. Including but not limited to Rocky Horry Picture Show and Fight Club.
    Btw they were BOTH regretting their commitment to each other.
    This song was written by the late Jim Steinman (RIP) He also played keyboard on this song.
    I whish I could have seen them in concert but sadly it never happened. 😭 They never played near me/us.

    I don't know if I'm proud of this but I was 17 and my girlfriend was 17 and I had this cassette and we would go to the State Park near her house in my 69 Pontiac Catalina and do you know what. One winter night we got stuck in the snow and I was sure I was dead. Her dad was from Alabama and a Deacon at the local Baptist church. Thank goodness I dug the car out and we made it back to her house. I actually laugh at these reaction videos now. Really good times!

    Salute to you for this review. It's both a humorous song and a deep ballad that makes you think. Passion runs hot as a youth but is shallow and can lead to giant mistakes.
