  • How much power does a pellet heater use and how long does the fire take to start? The video shows the power usage during start-up on a pellet heater and how many minutes it takes for a fire to get going and the pellet heater enter heating mode.
Load of 300 watts during the first 7 minutes and 33 seconds as the ignitor gets the fire started.
About 40 to 70 watts pulled once the fire is going.
Very easy to run a pellet heater on a battery setup.
    0:02 Ignition begins
    5:52 Fire starting
    7:33 Heating mode

Thanks for info. Is 5:52 the time from when you first pressed the start button to first flame or is that from after the pot is already filled ? Hard to tell until we see the first glow.

Button is pressed at about 0:02 seconds into the video. Pellets automatically feeding into the burn pot and then they catch fire. At the very start the wattage drawn is around 2 watts then a few seconds later it jumps to about 300 watts. Ignitor is starting to warm up and pellets are being slowly fed into burn pot. Fire is starting around the five minute mark but it isn't fully established and burning until the 7:33 mark. That's why the watts being drawn drops from around 300 watts down to 40 - 70 watts because the ignitor switches off.
