can you help me. What is the "quotation" of Socrates "what is virtue?" question
Thanks for the review
what is the geometric diagram explanation?...
Socrates asks a slave about how to double the area of a square and he is just as puzzled as Meno. Then Socrates points out the diagonal and they understand. He goes on to conclude that our souls are immortal, hence, knowledge is recollected, NOT taught.
He would agree that the fertility of the soil is an external gift . Like the feri!it of the mind it is something we are born with. Just as some soil is more fertile for growing plants than other soil, some minds are better than others for growing virtue. Sand is a completely infertile type of soil. I have been told that ignorance of what is good is the root of vice. It is the root of "sin". If it is true as Socrates says that no one has a clear understanding of what IS " virtue". Can the same be said of what IS vice? We can teach the four pagan cardinal virtues, courage, temperance, and wisdom. But they are different from the cardinal virtues of Christianity. Can Christians or even Muslims be taught to what IS virtue? 🤔😉
please turn your volume up can't hear you!!!!!!!!!!
Same problem here
Might "knowledge" be taught? Whose "knowledge" is it? Ever heard of the "Tree of Knowledge, of Good and of Evil"? Here the "sorrows" of the world develop.
