    Remote access was not working after reboot until you login under current user. How to enable it just after reboot without logining?

    Same as Alexander. I'm using Ubuntu 18.04. Everything is working fine with your set up procedure. However, after rebooting, the VNC won't start itself. Still, this is a very helpful and simple way without installing many things
    Secondly, when I go to Setting to set something like Power management, I can still see the desktop, but trash can becomes 2 and I cannot click anything or type anything.

    Looks like its the 'sudo apt install -y vino' step that adds 'Screen Sharing' option to ones win/cmd+s | sharing options UI correct?
    Appears that realvnc.com/connect/download/vnc option [ | linux | generic x64 script | download | extract .tar.gz | sudo ./vncinstall && systemctl enable/start vncserver-virtuald && win+s x11vncserver | ok | properties | accept connections | apply ] requires a license if you want the "Service Mode" support that allows connections without a current user login on the console.

      You can connect to vnc in a different network using site to site VPN or if in a secure environment port forward to the internal IP using public IP. A little risky

    it is possible to have vino start before login? Currently I have to login to ubuntu before VNC is available. This defeats having a headless system.
    I searched the web and cannot find an answer.

      There's X11 forwarding via SSH too.
      However, it's not as responsive as VNC.

      @@ShopperPlug for Ubuntu server you’ll first need some sort of window manager installed. If you need a GUI maybe better idea to install workstation version of Ubuntu ?

    • @ShopperPlug
      @ShopperPlug 3 года назад

      @@TechCoreDuo “window manager” if you’re implying a window GUI server, it is not required. Ubuntu has a built in window server. The only problem is the Ubuntu developers failed to make it easy to let 3rd party VNC apps to utilize effortlessly. They finally came up with a half arsed solution called “vino”. You use vino so that you can utilize the Ubuntu’s built in desktop window server. The same concept goes to windows 10 and Mac OS, people only needs to install a VNC server only and does not need to install an extra window GUI server to allow VNC working properly. So there are ways to install and use vino without needing to install an extra desktop window manager like how you did it in your RUclips video but everything done in terminal via ssh.
