Those cups are definitely 70s. If you look at the bottom, it says "Made by Zayre". Zayre Dept Stores was bought out by Ames in the 80s. By then, they had changed their logo twice.
I vote yes for boiling down the vintage sodas. I had forgotten about those plastic ring things until I saw them. Glad you reminded people to cut those before throwing them away. Good to see more of you on camera too. I don’t know if you usually stayed off camera on purpose like, to add to the mystery kinda thing, or if you weren’t comfortable being on camera; I know some folks aren’t. Either way is cool. Your channel and you should do whatever you want, however you want, but just my 2 cents worth, again, glad you were on camera this time.
I agree. I liked seeing a face with a voice. His videos rock!✌🏻💜 oh and I agree, ALWAYS cut the plastic holders once at a lake we saw a poor goose( and I don't like geese, they are mean) it had a whole 6 pack plastic holder around its neck, we could not get it to come to us with food, I went and found a ranger, he sent two park docents out in a boat with a net .... we videoed the whole thing, they DID catch it and remove plastic. I sent the video to local tv station and they used it as a public service . I'm a mind my own business kind of person but would have been sad if I saw a dead goose.
As always. Very interesting stuff man! I mean, so many RUclipsr's got intro's, skill editing on the highest shelf. But your videos are like. It is just simple and straight to the point. I really like that, as said keep the good work. Soon 40k!
I enjoyed watching this and being able to see the face that goes with the voice. Also, good PSA about cutting the bottle rings so that critters or what have you can't get stuck in them. I always cut mine before throwing it into the trash.
I think the Ovaltine now taste terrible! I used it in My milk, and I loved the flavor, in the 1990's, and I then, tried it again a few years back, and it's a totally different, more bitter tasting flavor now.
Light Fawn agreed! At some place like Ocean State Job Lot I bought metal cans of foreign Ovaltine a couple of years ago. Big red #10 cans. It was the closest to the old stuff that I’ve had in years...still not as good as the real vintage formula!
Me again, in 1989 my father and I stopped in a small village, at a small old looking store for refreshments. Inside I saw an old milkshake that I remembered from when I was a young child, because it was my favorite. Anyway, we bought the snacks and drinks and returned to the car and I started drinking the milk. The flavor was just as I remembered from my childhood but the consistency was a little different than I remembered, but I thought nothing of it. At home in the kitchen I put the almost empty carton on the counter top near the window and noticed something, the date. The reason the milkshake had bought back so many memories was that the expiry date was from my childhood. It read 16/03/1984
We finally see a face that goes with the voice!! Awesome!! I say go for it, make the video of boiling vintage soda! I have a suggestion for a vintage soda you should try. When I was a kid, they used to have Hubba Bubba soda. It came in pink cans and tasted like bubble gum. It was awesome!! This was back in the mid 80's. If you can ever get your hands on a can of it, please make a video and taste it!!! I would love to see that! If I can ever get one, I'll most definitely be doing it too!
I'm Canadian, I have heard people abroad say that Canada is known for it's Ginger Ale. I always forget Canada Dry is a thing. The comment always confused me
I like the idea of boiling them down. I also like your tip about cutting those plastic rings to prevent animals from getting caught in them. That is a decent thing to do. Once again, this was an interesting video. Yay for Canada 🇨🇦. 😂 Only because that’s where I am from.

This was a great video, Canada Dry is one of my absolute favorite drinks. I would bet that the old version tastes much better because they used a little bit of real sugar, instead of the new version today where they use most likely only high fructose corn syrup. Yes, I think you should do the experiment with old and new versions of the same soda and boil them down to see what happens. Thanks for sharing this video with us, love the channel, can't wait to see what video is next
I do the same with the plastic tabs and even cut up plastic bags I had food in because I don't want anything living to get hurt. It's amazing that the plastic bottles had metal screw tops. maybe they had them left over from the 60s and didn't want to waste them. Thank you for the taste test.
Hi, love watching your videos and often feel jealous of you tasing some of those old things. (Some I don't!) Anyway, you mentioned about them putting nutritional facts on products in the 1990's, well the reason was because companies often lied about the contents and amounts of ingredients in those products. Nowadays product labels are read downwards, the first ingredient is the ingredient most common in that product, ie: water, sugar, coloring...... water would be the main ingredient. But before the new rules came in they stated the ingredients but often put sugar much lower on the list to fool people into buying it. ;-)
Awesome video friend. I remember those old metal twist caps on the 80s soda bottles. Yeah, I would like to see a video where you boil down vintage soda. Take care. ✌
This is great. You are very nice looking. I remember those old bottles, early to mid eighties. You mentioned the old soda was sweeter. I wonder how much sugar and carbs were in those!!
It is good for upset stomach, in Chinese medicine ginger is given for morning sickness as well as stomach problems. Here in the US too,I'm a nurse, we tell pregnant moms it is ok to drink ginger ale for nausea.
The 80's one is going to be a whole lot more flavorful, Drank this quite a bit and mixed with Vodka, Haha! Thank you for sharing some wonderful memories of my youth...😁♥️
I wouldn't be surprised if that bottle was close to 1980. Maybe 82ish? That style of font on the label was popular in advertising throughout the 70s, it was used on everything, even the cup packaging you have. It was phased out by the early 80s but could still be found on some packaging. I noticed the bar code, barcodes were in use in the mid- late 70s and was quickly moving into the early 1980s. By the 80s, every type of packaging had them. Glass bottles were still common in the 80s. I can remember in 1990-91 still getting glass Coke/Pepsi bottles but by 1991-92 everything switched over to plastic.

When you show your face like this it makes your videos SO much more enjoyable! So thank you for that!

My grandmother swore Ginger Ale was good for an upset stomach👍
Yep. My mom always had me drink ginger ale when I had an upset stomach.
Yes it is 💯 it's most likely the ginger 👍
Hot lemon drinks for a cough/congestion was prescribed too.
I still have Ginger Ale when my belly is upset. Sometimes it's too sweet though.
My grandmother lied and said Orange Crush would help my upset stomach. The line of orange puke from the couch to the bathroom said otherwise.
This channel is the most wholesome channel I've seen.

I’m curious what it would taste like if you recarbonated it with a Sodastream or something like that!
Good idea 👍.
I was thinking of that
but you can't carbonate sugary beverages. your sodastream will be ruined afterwards
@@Kamika_C_1980 No, it won't be ruined. All a soda stream does is inject CO2 into the liquid in the bottle. That's it.

Probably because today's version uses HFCS. That from the mid 80s and prior used cane sugar.
