Singing and performing like he did is like playing sports on the highest level. Most people can’t even sing one single Bon Jovi song proper, he did it night after night for fourty years. Lots of respect for this man and his music.

I'm 52 and grew up loving these guys. My 10 year old daughter asked to go for a drive the other night so we could listen to Living on a Prayer at max volume, so she could roll down the windows and sing at the top of he lungs. Say what you want, but he, his band (with Richie), and this song are timeless.

Everyone changes as they age. I've always loved this song and I still do. Bon Jovi is such a big part of my youth it'll never go away. And to top it all he showed what a showman he is. 2011, Helsinki, it was raining and he slipped and tore a ligament in his knee. A sane person would've stopped there and seeked medical aid. What did Jon do? He did the rest of the concert hopping on one leg - and he didn't just stand still, he was PERFORMING. I had lots of respect for him before that, but after that he's truly among the gods of rock for me. He didn't even stop singing, we didn't realize what happened until we began wondering why he looked so pained and hobbled along mostly with one leg.
Funny enough, I remembered it was a beautiful, perfect, sunny day. That's what Bon Jovi does to you. :D

I’m just amazed Jon was able to belt out that chorus for as long as he did even if his voice did change over the years. Imagine screaming that for as many shows as he did throughout his career.
I remember probably it had to be around 15 years ago now I went to an Eddie Money concert. It wasn’t really a concert I guess. It was an outdoor festival with food and and beer and stuff and also music. He was one of the main acts. The bands would only sing a few songs. When he sang “Take Me Home Tonight” as soon as he got to the chorus he just stopped singing and told us (the crowd) “Sing it for me.” Now that’s all well and good. I’ve seen tons of singers involve the crowd, but they actually sing along with the crowd. I just know that Eddie couldn’t muster up that chorus. His voice was shot.

i reckon over the years , all the records, tapes and some CD's , all the shirts, jackets, and concerts, I reckon a few grand on my part, Certainly not in the millions
      Do i regret that........
      NOT.............FOR A FUCKING SECOND !!!!!!!!!
A Few grand for him giving us a childhood, giving us beautiful memories
MATE.. I'D PAY THAT PRICE ANY DAY
Why did i leave that out
hmmm i don't know... maybe because i didn't give him $410 Million, and i'm guessing neither did you
and ... do i blame him or persecute any of the boys for collectively getting together $410 Million
      NO.... GOOD ON EM
I'll tell you something as a fact, I grew up very poor
i listened to jon as i was growing up, I listened to the words to livin on a prayer , We gotta hold on to what we got
at certain interviews he said "if you really want something , you'll have it"
anyway ... I listened and today i am successful and i run a successful business and i'm no longer poor, Haven't been for quite some time now, a few decades in fact
a lot of that was attributed to learning lessons from Jon, ok
Am i pissed... NO, I'M THANKFUL
and if i was ever to meet jon i would give him money to say thank you (at least that'd be my first reaction) then my logic kicks in and tells me, he doesn't need the money (I mean, honestly ... If a person borrows a few thousand dollars from me and can't pay it back, i really don't need it either , i can do without it and it won't hurt me) so if that's the case, i imagine jon is fine.
In the end, i'd probably give him a big hug and say thank you
      DOES THAT ANSWER YOUR QUESTION
Now.... Why have you got the poops ???
Would you like a big Bon Jovi fan hug
Tell Uncle Martin everything.... it's ok mate don't be afraid, Just take a breath and let it all out :P

RE "You seem to be missing the point. Celebrity worship is stupid and you clearly have a severe case of celebrity worship."
      LMFAO...... Celebrity WORSHIP LOL
Mate, Let me enlighten you to a little fact, ok
      1. No it's not worship , it's Being thankful
      2. I have met more celebrities in my life than i can count at this stage, I have met, Talent, Crew, (spot ops, Cam operators, Stunt people, Audio and video Engineers, directors, Producers) I'm 49, I got over celebrity worship when i was like, maybe 22 or something
No mate, ... You are SEVERLY MISTAKEN I also actually have 2 close friends that are also celebrities and if i mentioned their name you'd know them.
the names are not the point, the point is I AM BEYOND CELEBRITY WORSHIP,
Normal people have either not met any celebrities or maybe 1 or 2 and they suffer the condition that you refer to, I have met over 100 and worked with them and i know perhaps 30 of them pretty well..... YOU'VE CHOSEN THE WRONG PERSON TO PICK FOR CELEBRITY WORSHIP LOL
      Now that being said
      3. I am THANKFUL to Bands like Metallica, Bon Jovi, Kiss, ACDC,Led Zep for assisting me in growing up when times were tough
it's not a worship, it's just simply someone saying the right thing at the right time to help you through something
      4. Now further to point 3, I simply expressed my thoughts in my original comment, You then took a big right hand turn and brought money into it ,
SO HOW ABOUT WE DISCUSS THAT, because that seems to be your biggest concern.
You say i'm missing the point........... NO MATE I DON'T THINK I AM
5 "But you seem to be ignoring that its a business for him"
NOT AT ALL, I'm a business owner myself, I FULLY !!!! Understand that it's a business and i understand how it's run
let me give you a scenario (Regarding my business)
      Let's assume ...... I build i computers (which i do ) and let's assume that i normal sell them for $1500 (which i don't, but let's assume)
now let's assume that you are a pensioner and you can't afford more than $100 for a computer...
I have a business and i need to make money and i need to capitalize on you, SO I DO THIS....
I build you a computer for free, i install it for free and i say nothing
(but , i know deep inside that you will tell others)
Now when you tell others i end up getting say 10 more clients off the back of you telling them i was a great bloke
CAN WE NOT ARGUE THAT I DID WHAT I DID PURELY FROM A BUSINESS POINT OF VIEW ?
      of course we can
DOES THAT MEAN THAT YOU DIDN'T GET A BENEFIT OUT OF IT ?
      No it doesn't
DOES THAT MEAN THAT I DON'T FEEL GOOD FOR WHAT YOU EXPERIENCED ?
      No it doesn't
I understand it, don't you worry about that
      6. RE " I can promise you that he doesn't give a damn about you beyond being glad he has fans."
Are you trying to make me feel bad ?
      Mate, ...
      1. I understand that
      2. he still appreciates his fans
In the industry the talk is the talk and we all know who is a prick and who is a good guy and who is not liked to work with and who we do like to work with, Jon is on the Nice List in the industry
and regardless of it being a business, and regardless that he doesn't know me, HE HAS HELPED ME
      I'll put it another way
I have had customers over the years, Turned out to be Schitzophrenic, Junkies, Alcoholics, Broke
TRUTH BE TOLD, i do not want to associate with them, However in my travels i have helped them all in various ways
they also appreciate the help, that doesn't mean i want to be their friend, i made money on them, that doesn't mean i'm an arsehole, and it also doesn't mean that i didn't enjoy helping them
Jon doesn't know me personally nor do i him, so why would he do anything other than just appreciate me as a fan ?
I AM FULLY AWARE OF THIS FACT
      7. RE "He wrote his songs for money"
No, i disagree, I'm a musican, You write your songs (at least your good one's) because they were cool and you enjoyed them , IF AFTER THAT you can profit on them, why not ? i agree
but it doesn't start to be about money.
there is of course a fact that when you work out a formula for making songs you can leech off that, sure ....
but it doesn't start that way
and even if... he purely did it for money
DOESN'T CHANGE THE FACT THAT IT DID IN FACT HELP ME WHEN I NEEDED HELP
sometimes in life we do things and we don't realize how much it means to someone else
it's irrelevant why he wrote his songs
what is relevant is..... When i was young (and let's even argue, that i didn't know any better and i was star struck) in a time when life was hard and i needed help, HIS MUSIC WAS THERE (Regardless of his intent of when he wrote it) IT HELPED.. tha'ts all that matters
      LASTLY
RE "I met Jon once, Im from Jersey, he use to come into the place I worked. He was a nice guy. But at the end of the day, the worship stuff is ridiculous.
      "
      1. Ok, you met him ONCE... lol
I mean, congratulations, I haven't , but it's not like you worked with him or you see him regularly and have coffee with him every morning
      2. Exactly .. he's a nice guy, which concurs with what i've heard
      3. it's cool that your'e from Jersey and i can understand how you would have seen him , that's fine
      4. as for the worship stuff, I DON'T WORSHIP HIM , this is the impression you have formed
Worship and Being Thankful are 2 different things
      Jon has a charity house,
Now, the homeless people that he helps, I'm sure THEY ARE THANKFUL, Now, not all of them can be Bon Jovi Fans
but (and if i can add this) 100,000,000 Homeless people can't be wrong
      LMFAO... (sorry couldn't help myself)
but my point was... they don't have to worship him either, BUT THEY CAN BE THANKFUL FOR HIM GIVING THEM FOOD
Now is the charity a business.. of course it fucking is....
but yeah mate, You've got me pegged wrong
      I'm beyond celebrity worship
but i also respect who helped me when i was young and a lot of them don't even know it
DOES THAT CHANGE THAT IT HELPED ME ?
      No it doesn't
I'm just thankful mate, and i appreciate what he gave to the world
(even though it was ultimately for business and profit purposes)
Profit doesn't make someone an arsehole
I profit very well every single day , I'm not an arsehole
i got out every day (except Sunday) and i genuinely do my best to help who i can
if i told my clients how much i made, i assure you their jaw would drop,
but .. IT DOESN'T MAKE ME AN ARSEHOLE if i figured out how to be successful, ok
      I get what you're saying
but.. You're incorrect unfortunately ... ok

Having been a professional (gigging) musician for over 40 years, I feel for him. While I still have about 90% of the range I had then, there are a lot of "staple" songs that either have to be pitched down (like JBJ did in concert, as evidenced in ALL these clips), or done away with completely. I'm not particularly a fan of his or his music, but kudos to him for still going out and quite obviously give the audience a hellacious show.

Now try singing these exact vocals for 30 plus years, on top of numerous other songs, jumping around on stage, and belting it out every single time.

Jon has been singing for over 35 years. His voice is wiped out. Anyone's would be if you sang as much over the years as Jon. Richie is backup vocals. They're phenomenal in concert!! I have followed the band since the beginning. I might be biased as Jon and his family are personal friends of mine. Keep the negative comments to yourselves. If you don't like the band or Jon's voice now, there's a simple solution - don't listen to them. If you had been screaming for over 30+ years your voice would be shot too.

    • @lizettejohnstone3672

I was even called names on Facebook by a "Bon Jovi" fan who called me an idiot and tone deaf after I said as much and that, yes Jon's voice has changed but to me he still sounds good and he really gives his all. I'd go see Jon even if all he did was read the newspaper to me.
