I'm a collector. I'm almost 70 years old. My collection is 99 percent played and displayed. I can't believe keeping toys in a acrylic box to never be played with is desirable. It's nice to see you cleaning the toys and that if I sold my collection I would be 100 thousand dollars richer 😊

Hey Wade! I can only imagine how awesome your collection is! I guess the thing I love about collecting is that there are so many vast tastes out there, from collecting to display and play with them, to collecting mint in box to be protected and preserved - I love all the variety. Thanks for watching my friend!

You didn't make a mistake getting that Rebel Command Center buddy. That was a pretty good example you found. You cleaned 🪥 it up real nicely👌. The backdrop picture is priceless to display. Here and there you can find those 3 figures in the Kenner baggies fairly easy, then you'll be all set🙌.. and if you don't want it, trade it to me 😂 take care bro😎✌️

I understand why you were disappointed at the condition. However, once you cleaned it, wow does it look sharp! I really find enjoyment by bringing an old vehicle or playset back to life after years in a bin. It helps connect us to our youth and it is fun that you share the cleanup process. Thanks for doing that!

Brother, I see that you have done amazing work cleaning everything up!
It was a cheap production play set but it's a piece of Kenner vintage toy history, and now you have your story to add to this one!
(Can wait to see the Cloud City toy set!!)

Great video. It's hard not to buy things sometimes, especially when you're doing a run. I guess that playset is more rare because it was a Sears exclusive only available for that one year.

Thanks Joey. I was waiting for the real issues of the purchase to surface as the video went along, but I reckon you got a pretty good version in the end (assuming the seller had shown you all this in the listing). Pluses: Seller packaged it well. Getting the figure baggie box was a BIG plus. The box actually looks pretty sharp, and the acrylic case always lifts those colours. All in all I think you did really well. If anything the dirty base probably saved you a few dollars in the end. And if you have to 'eat' the $225 down the road and get a better one, I think you'll come out all right in the end.
Look forward to the Cloud City playlet. I'll admit it was the only one I ever really thought about getting when I was collecting. Seeing these 3 playlets (LotJ / HIP / RCC) gives me some FOMO !! I should have at least got those Hoth ones :)

Man, you just gave me a FLASHBACK. I almost forgot We had the Land Of The Jawas playset. I don't know if I remember the Rebel Command Center, though. I know We never got it. Christmas 1981 was Han Solo's ship, for me and my Sister. Regarding your find: Trial and error, my Friend. MTFBWY...

@@thepadawancollectorofficial My parents actually have a picture of me holding The Millennium Falcon in my young, 7-year-old hands, in my PJs, with a gleeful smile on my face. We also have accompanying pictures of my Dad assembling it. It is a good memory.

Glad ya got this playset. Sorry it wasn’t as clean as you hoped. That is one thing about eBay that bothers me as well. Some things arrive and they are not exactly what you expected -even when there are 50 pictures with the listing, you can still be surprised cause of lighting or hidden shadows or whatever.
Looking forward to the next one!

I always liked the Rebel Command Center. Yeah, they cheaped out on this particular playset like you explained in the video, but the backdrop is pretty nice with a great action scene that's super colorful - even if it is just a static picture.
I was happy to see you got a pretty good looking version, & one that included the figure box. As you were well aware, that little item by itself is typically pretty expensive. But boy, was that base grimy!! Took a lot of elbow grease to get that one "white-ish" again. 😎
You mentioned that if you were to do it again, you might not have purchased this particular one - I'm curious to know what the main one or two reasons were that made you feel that way.
I'm constantly browsing eBay for vintage stuff. You made a lot of great points about what's out there, and the varying degrees of seller knowledge and shipping/packing capability. I often find that eBay prices run a little bit more than everywhere else, but that's likely due to all the fees that sellers incur. Still, I often find examples of things on eBay that I am not seeing in the same volume elsewhere.
If you picked this thing up in the last 6 months, there was a good chance I was looking at it as well. As this playset has been on my radar for the last year too. Just happy we didn't have to bid against each other. 😅
Far too often I've been in a situation buying from eBay where I receive something that has been underpacked, or the box has been battered in shipping, or worse yet they used a battered box when they shipped it. 🤦. Looks like this one arrived in pretty good shape overall though. 👍
I'm going to have to rewatch this video, because I didn't recall you showing the different sides of the box (not there's much to show off, but it's always nice to see). You likely did, I just didn't remember. But what's another view, right? 😂
    [EDIT] - nope. 😘
I'm really looking forward to your Bespin Cloud City Playset review. This one is also on my list, but like you said, it has been a challenging one to find in the condition I am after at a price that I feel is reasonable. This one fetches a pretty penny, especially if you can find one with the figures in baggies. Oof!!!
Onward to your next video! Thanks again for such detailed information, background history, and for going the extra mile to show us how to set up these play sets and all the bits that are included with them. ❤️

Thanks Mopar! Haha glad we didnt bid against each other, I would have let you win though. Thanks for watching early and being a channel supporter, my friend. If I was to get this over again, I would have gotten a better box, a better condition base, and figures in the baggies, the original cardboard insert, as well as the catalog. I will at least get the catalog separately

      @@thepadawancollectorofficial hahaha - thanks Joey.
I appreciate your response to my inquiries. I've been guilty of an itchy eBay trigger finger before as well. But that's likely due to missing out on certain auctions that I, in hindsight, regret not pulling the trigger on more quickly.
The ones that include baggie figures are always the most costly & challenging to find in just the right condition for the money (Palitoy Death Star playset is the exception).

I am watching three Cloud City Playsets on UK eBay just now and they are not for the faint hearted. I am a while off pulling the trigger myself as they are Graded by AFA. The Cloud City Playset is the only playset I would buy graded but I also want a set to put in my cabinet with the figures on it.

I have the Rebel Command Center and I didn’t mind the slightly annoying second reuse of the Land of the Jawas mold. What really annoyed me was that the Hoth Luke had a stupid rifle instead of the lightsaber. How could he fight the Wampa that came out at the same time?

Maybe you should leave the less desirable items for those with shallower pockets. Your obviously a serious collector but buying everything you see spoils it for the less financially flush collector. Just my opinion.
