    Great demonstration… I am going to take the same approach with my cape.
    Any suggestions as to where to purchase SilverGlo?

    Install looks straightforward when the roof is made with rafters. Do you have a video showing a roof with trusses?

    • @fogartyshomeservices
      @fogartyshomeservices  2 месяца назад

      Thank you for your interest! If you have a truss system in your attic we recommend Air Sealing the attic floor and insulating with our Blown In - TruSoft Cellulose. TruSoft Cellulose works great if you have trusses, AC equipment and ducting. ruclips.net/video/PBSYNd65gfc/видео.html The Super Attic with SilverGlo can also be installed with trusses if necessary, we recommend having your attic evaluated first however. If you live in Connecticut or Massachusetts give us a call at 860-219-0499 otherwise go to www.drenergysaver.com to find a local dealer in your area.

    Great video! What is the comparison cost of this verses blown in fiberglass? Or provide info as to why this is a better option? Thanks

    Do you have any recommendations for insulating a cape cod ceiling. I’ve been thinking about removing all the drywall from floor to ridge vent and spray everything inside knee walls to ridge vent because it’s so hot upstsirs

    • @fogartyshomeservices
      @fogartyshomeservices  2 месяца назад

      Thank you for your comments we do appreciate them! For finished knee walls, we recommend dense packing the rafters with Cellulose. The reason why you want to dense pack with Cellulose instead of spray foaming is to move the thermal boundary from the attic floor to the slope of the roof instead. This will create a conditioned space that the attic room occupies. We can dense pack your rafters without the need to remove any existing drywall. Here is a video of one of our recent jobs that explains the process: ruclips.net/video/sGAHEoV7X94/видео.html

      @@fogartyshomeservicesi think after watching videos im going with insulation rather than spray foam. Im concerned about roof leaks and not being able to tell if we have a problem

    I'm curious if you smoke test for air leakage.

    • @fogartyshomeservices
      @fogartyshomeservices  2 месяца назад

      Thank you for your comments and interest! Typically we find that a smoke test is not necessary after a thorough inspection of your attic and basement or crawlspace. Because of the conditions that cause the "Stack Effect" to occur in a building we can readily identify where the trouble spots are. how can something like that know the difference between summer and winter . I have R30 insulation in my attic and I just added R 30 ontop of that . I airsealed everything before I put the new R 30 across the joists and then airsealed what might have been missed by the builder of my modular home (2x6walls ) How would that not cook your roof shingles . I have a neighbor who had the whole house spray foamed insulated . Then 4 years later they are having to replace the only 5 year old roof because it is cooked the roof shingles and now found out some of the plywood on the roof is delaymenated from the heat . I know they had a nightmare a couple of months ago from a plumbing leak and paid alot of money because the leak had traveled farther that where it was showing up at . . Took them 6 plumbers because no one wanted to deal with the sprayfoam insulation . Sure they saved money on heat and cooling but it costs them alot in repairs . The roofer now is not happy because of it being so hard to remove the plywood because of the sprayfoam insulation . They have to keep tarping the roof because of the time it takes and now the owners are having to shell out more money than they ever thought they would have too . I just put a new roof on my ranch house and it cost 10 thousand dollars but that was with ice and watershield and all new 6 inch gutters and downspouts and my house is 100 ft long and 48 wide . So far their 1500sq. ft house for their roof is at 25 thousand and that is without ice an watershield and maybe higher as they find more damaged plywood . My roof took one day for tear off and replacement and theirs is now going on week 2 and more rain and wind is coming . Seems like new is not always great and can cost you more in the long run

      Thank you for your comment. Those are all very good points when talking about spray foam. It can be a great material if used for the right reasons in the right climates. Our cape cod construction solutions are installed with cellulose and EPS foam board.
      Great job on making sure you air sealed your attic assembly. That is the most important thing to do in any home.

      @@fogartyshomeservices every light fixture every marring wall and it is always helpful if you have the lighting pan for your house . My modular home came with all the plans for plumbing , electrical . and duct work . My first 2 homes I remodeled were really hard to figure it all out . Then did maps as i redid them so next home owners would not have that probem . My first house was a speakeasy shotgun ouse and i was lucky that i found all the old gas lights nice and safe in the attic and my local hardware store showed me how to wire them so i could put them back where they belonged . It was a real learning curve but worth it . I was lucky i grew up around this stuff because my dad did alot of work for Kaplan builders in Nj . I am now 70 and still doing this stuff for my home and both my sisters homes.They got new bathrooms and kitchens after i moved to VA in 2004 all done by me and them . They learned what I already knew
