What to do if the tomato seedlings turn blue and do not grow, or grow poorly, or, do you think, you have bad tomato seedlings at all?
I will share my secret and teach you how even the most seedy, thin, yellow tomatoes, after planting in open ground or an unheated greenhouse, turn into beautiful and healthy plants that will thank you all summer for your care with a large and tasty harvest.
I always do this, do it and you - and you will see how in just a few days the tomatoes will take up their minds - they will begin to gain a juicy green color, increase their leaf mass, thicken at the waist, and grow right before our eyes!
Just do what I’ll tell you about now and I’m sure that in a week or two you will stepchild and tie up, get ready to meet the new crop of tomatoes in your garden!
The fact that tomatoes feel bad at a new planting site is a consequence of stress, the plant's reaction to new growing conditions.
Now they need to be helped to come to their senses, look around and settle down in a new place - only then will they grow.
Step one. Protect your tomatoes from return frosts and cold nighttime temperatures. The temperature of the soil, in which tomato seedlings begin to feel more or less comfortable, starts from 12-14 degrees. If the soil is cold, it makes sense to cover the planted seedlings at night until the air warms up well, or mulch with a layer of humus or compost. The enzymatic processes that take place in organic matter are accompanied by the release of heat, which will warm your tomatoes until the soil warms up completely.
Step two. How to feed tomatoes after planting in open ground?
Relieve tomato stress caused by transplanting outdoors with an anti-stress top dressing specifically for tomatoes.
How to water tomatoes so that they grow? How to feed tomato seedlings for growth? How to feed tomato seedlings so that the trunk is thick?
Make root dressing at the rate of half a liter of solution per 1 tomato plant. Water each plant under the root in the afternoon, on a warm day, after planting, or for a week after planting.
If you have any of the growth stimulants at hand, for example, zircon, or succinic acid, or heteroauxin, also use their capabilities to help tomatoes cope with stress.
Treat tomatoes with stimulants by making a working solution, as indicated in the instructions for the preparation.
Step three. To increase the resistance of tomatoes to diseases that a young plant may encounter in open ground in a new garden bed, treat both the soil where the tomatoes are planted and the plants themselves with a 1% Bordeaux mixture or a 0.1% solution of copper sulphate.
And finally, step four.
Water the tomatoes according to a special schedule. So you will not give any chance to fungal diseases that often parasitize on the leaves, stems and even roots of tomatoes.
