- This tutorial is an easy project even for complete beginners and you get a big piece for your wall in a very short time! List of all the supplies and measurements below.
My finished macrame wall hanging piece is about 90 cm (35,4 in) wide, the longest section is about 80 cm (31,5 in) and the shortest about 50 cm (19,7 in).
I’ve used in total about 72 m (236 ft.) of a 5 mm 3ply (3 strand) cord in the color Sunset and about 60 m (197 ft.) of a 5 mm single twist cord in the color Sand. And here is how long I’ve cut the cords:
36 Sunset cords at 2 m (79 in)
12 Beige cords at 5 m (197 in)
Both of the measurements above have worked for me to create the longest sections (80 cm). If you know already which sections you would like to be longer/shorter you can adjust your cords accordingly.

This was so helpful, thank you! I followed your ideas as a complete beginner and it worked so well.
Glad it helped!
Wow, thats beautiful anna, i just love that !!!!
thank you 😊
I LOVE the way this looks and I'm thinking I can probably do this as I've never done macrame, but your instructions are pretty clear! Very beautiful!
This one is really easy so definitely a good start for a beginner 😉
So I am off to find a nice piece of driftwood now :) xoxo
How did the hunt go? 🙂
@@uzliky I have found a massive piece :D I will try and get a hold of a smaller one to even dare to start with the project. You make it look so easy.... I have an opportunity to find driftwood around the islands and naturebeaches around where I live. I have to keep an eye for them when we go out bathing with the boat.
Absolutely love this ! Would this work with 3mm cord ?
It has an ethnic look ❤
Right, definitely has that vibe 😌
Really love this!!
thank you!
Beautiful! 🥰
Thank you! 😊
Lindo seu trabalho artesnal .
Thank you 😊
Supar 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 very very nice 🙂🙂🙂🙂 from india
😊😊😊
I would like to make a macrame rug with simple square knots... I've never done macrame before!! It's not so easy to get the thick cord in the UK . Will you consider making a video to help with that? Especially things like how to start with enough to make a fringe either end. I love your videos. Thank you. Xx
Hmmm, I haven’t done a rug before, I will think about it 🤔🙂 On the length I would say definitely at least 4 times the desired length because the rugs are usually full of knots so you will need a lot of cord. And then multiply by two because you will be using the larks headknot in the beginning.
De knoop die jij deed is toch de cobra knoop
Oh that's interesting, I didn't know that's what it was called in Dutch, thanks for the comment 😉
Me encantaría que nos ayudaras proponiendo el precio de venta de tus hermosos trabajos por favor, seria de gran ayuda.!!! ❤
that is a very good question but to be honest I don't dedicate much time to selling my pieces so I am not much of an expert on setting prices....maybe when I get a bit more experience I will share with you guys 😉
