There's this guy who pretty much always comments on your posts.. saying over and over again that YOU ARE one of the Smoothest and Classiest guitarists who has ever picked up the instrument (that guy is me!)! You provide great instruction, as well! Thanks Jack, and TC!!!
I've been watching Jack and Guthrie Trapp. Great videos! I'm still struggling with playing the changes but I totally get CAGED.
@@jeffreywinsor350 Guthrie is like Jack, but on amphetamines
Thanks. Always on point.
Another incredibly helpful lesson, thanks so much.
Real nice Jack, thanks for all the names of the notes too.
Great teaching jack
Thank you Jack!
Great lesson!
Awesome lesson Ty
Thanks!
Love your playing and your channel set up/teaching approach Jack. I had a small question about that gorgeous Collings; what kind of humbuckers are in them? Throbaks? If so do you know which model? Thanks Jack, forever subscriber here.
I'll bet you dream in cord tones. And your nightmares are lines that won't resolve.
Is that a fender bassman head you're playing through?
hello! graet lesson!! in the examples that you play you finish the notes of the turnaround diferrntly, the progrtion is always the same ? because when you do the five lickss after the examples you always end on the e note
The progression is always B A E, in 5 different positions on the neck
I’m more confused now than I was Jack.. The shapes that you’re showing sure don’t look like the traditional shapes I’m used to seeing.. I already understand CAGED.. but.. Idk..
Same here. I saw the initial B and A shapes but what was the funky E shape?
I paused and saw the notes. I get it, it's an E chord but what shape is it? @1:20
I'm guessing it is a variant of the D shape.
An inversion with the 3rd on bottom.
@@jimmpanik3402higher strings its part of D shape chord and the root on the second fret 4th string and a G# on the low E string. All those notes make a E chord. Its unusual but still an E chord.
I believe he meant A shaped B chord, then G shaped A chord and then D shaped E chord. Hope that helps.
@@WestonPreisingGuitarat 1:20 he plays a D shape, E chord, but instead of playing the G# on the high E string at 4th fret, he plays it on the low E string

I hate that it's called a system. It's not a system. Shapes/positions are an accurate description.
Great channel, though!!!
I call it a framework because I visual hang scales chords licks, etc, on it like it was scaffolding.
A system can be defined as a manner of classifying or organizing. Seems to fit quite well.
ok you are ending at the 5 note of e on the 2 first exemples you are finishing at the 5 of e
1) B - 5th, 2) B - 5th, 3) E - R, 4) G - minor 3rd with slight bend up toward major 3rd 5) B - 5th. They mostly land on notes other than E because it’s the end of the sequence and the start of the next sequence will be based around a long E section
Love your talent……but I don’t get the whole cage/chord shape thing for busting out of the pentatonic. It’s not just YOUR lesson, it’s ALL of them. I don’t get the transition from using these shapes to improvising a solo that sounds non-sterile. I don’t know, maybe I’m too old.
I think that's where people go wrong. It's a visual framework. You'll never be melodic unless it's in your ear. Your eyes get you to the start. CAGED is mostly for eyes. It transformed my playing. I improv 90% of what I play (backing weekly open mic). I practice it daily to reinforce it.
More confusion than clarity 😮
Another inspiring and insightful lesson. The Tabs and Backing Track are not on your Patreon yet. Looking forward to practicing this. THANK YOU!!!
